    WHAT IS BOLTARON?
Kydex is more well known but both of them have their loyal fans. Boltaron is somewhat stronger and can take the heat and cold better, which is nice when winter is coming and you need to operate in far north. The downside is a bit higher material cost.

Check Printables in a couple of days if you want a dangler instead of the belt lock. I'll be releasing a 3D printable dangler for this sheath. The dangler is done but I have not finished writing the instructions. First I'll release a dangler for the Sacki 3.0 knife then for the Jääkäripuukko.

I was just thinking about something that could be used to mount the dangler. ✌️

My 110 is supposed to arrive today, which is pretty remarkable since I only ordered it five days ago and it's coming from Finland to the state of Washington. I think the leather sheath will suit me fine, as I don't plan to jump out of any airplanes and I hope I don't fall down a cliff. Lol. Thanks for the information on the boltaron sheath. Updated delivery now set for tomorrow. Still amazing service.

@@MarkYoungBushcraftThe knife arrived yesterday and it's just as advertised. Not pretty, but solid and sharp. Should be a fun knife to use.

When i emailed them about their sheaths they also sent me details of custom makers who make kydex sheaths for it. I cant ever remember any company endorsing other products that were not made by them.

Truly strange. I expect the military is their primary market for these sheaths. Thanks for commenting

Thanks Mark, for the look-see. It's actually in my shopping cart right now for my next order, whenever I have the extra cash.
I have the 110 and the skrama 200 but have been wanting to add to the family - I like those knives that much.
I often pair down my modest little bag o' knives, and the 110 makes the cut every time. And we're talking, by this point in my life, some very nice knives I think...

They are nice but I would prefer a taco style version over the pancake. The last thing I want is bigger sheaths , I find that almost all kydex designs seem to always ad more material than whats needed. BUT for military purposes it makes sense to have the options.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  Před 7 měsíci

Fair enough. This style does make it easier for mounting on a pack, etc. Thanks for commenting

Glad you made this video comparison on the sheaths. Im leaning towards the 110 with the Boltaron for attaching to my pack. With your review on the Skrama I did purchase the 200....oh I like that tool for sure. So Im needing the little brother. Do you have any videos of the belt clip you attached to the Boltaron and how it wears on th belt? Happy trails Mark

You can tell that sheath was made for the Finnish army (isn't that what jaakari means? Like infantry, or something to that effect? I can imagine why kydex wouldn't be ideal when patrolling the Finland/Russia border.

Thanks Mark, I always look forward to your honest reviews. Especially when it comes to the Terävä line-up. I got the Jääkäripuukko 140 based on your review of the 110 last year. Asking Santa for the 140 Boltaron, the Jääk 85, and the FerroFire set-up this year. I gotta get my hands on a Skrama sometime soon, still can't decide which one though...

Glad my videos have been helpful. If I was to add a Skrama to what you have I think I would go with the 240. The 200 is great but not a whole lot bigger than your 140. Thanks for commenting

I know some people don't like Mora's plastic sheaths and prefer a leather one, but I like the fact that I never have to worry about it being affected by the weather and basicly have no maintenance. I can even use it to dig with. So sheaths like this one or a Kydex, definitely have their advantages, even if they may not have that cool look to them. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft

    • @Darrenski

It's also slimmer and lighter and in places like here (uk) it is frowned on to have a knife on your belt and the slim plastic sheath fits into your pack a lot easier than the leather one. It won't need maintenance either and won't need forever to dry out for your nice carbon knife to rust away in. but on a plus side, it is more expensive?! No, I've never seen the point in getting the leather sheath either, although it is a good one from what I've seen. But I'm purely practically minded and don't really care about posh or traditional materials, only the most practical and durable.

G'day Mark, nice option, so good when companies cover the bases. Mind you, better for the customer if offered as a choice with the knife purchase, rather than only as an extra after sale item.
Anyhoo, with its solid retention, I reckon it would be ideal for those that do tip up packstrap carry.
I have seen some tech lock style buckles that have quick release of the sheath, does this one ?
    Cheers Duke.

As can buy the knife without a sheath then buy this on top. Save a tiny bit of money that way. Thanks for commenting Duke

@@MarkYoungBushcraft No worries mate, I did forget this company does blade only, with only the leather sheath insert. It was certainly that way with the Skrama since you get both, but don't remember that being the case with the Puukko, anyway all good in the wood. Cheers Duke.

Nearly the price of the knife. No thumb push ramp for extraction. ❤

It is pricey but high quality for sure. Doesn't really need a formed thumb ramp like a taco design sheath. Thanks for commenting
