  • In this video I visit Holehird Gardens, home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society, to try some garden photography.
    I was recently invited by the LHS to run a course on how to improve your garden photography which included my best garden photography tips to help you to take better garden photographs.
    A couple of days later I returned to film this garden photography tutorial including tips on how to photograph plants and how to photograph flowers.

    Nice 'alternative' video Chris. I spent a very interesting day last week in the gardens at Powys Castle - highly recommended. Unfortunately, I managed a school boy error and formatted the wrong memory card whilst having coffee (and cake) so lost quite a few close in macro shots and a nice wide angle shot too - doh! But it was a great exercise in pushing the lens to its limits and looking for those backgrounds that blur and show off the subject so nicely. I had never thought of doing flower photos until I did a workshop where Sue Bishop was one of the co-leaders. Her work was an inspiration and she was so helpful in the field. I am now always on the look out for wild flowers in the countryside and enjoy NT gardens in a whole new light (pun intended).

      Hi Rob, truth be told I only scouted out this location because I ballsed up the video the first time around. However, good local knowledge is absolutely essential if you are going to get high quality photos on a consistent basis. It's no good rocking up on location 10 mins before sunrise and expecting that to be enough time to find the perfect composition.

    • @RobOutenPhotography
      @RobOutenPhotography Před 5 lety
