  • In the summer of 2014, I left my home in Nong Khai, Thailand and began a 3,000km journey across Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. This is a chronological video about that experience, set to some great music.

Hats off to you! Thanks for making an epic journey and a great video where you didn't put yourself front and centre but instead showed us the countries you went through from your visual perspective.
    Great soundtrack!

Thank you for your comment. I wanted viewers to imagine themselves on the journey so I tried to show myself as little as possible. Thanks again.

I am pretty sure you had an amazing trip. Have myself been biking parts of Laos , Cambodia and Thailand. Most recent longer trip was from Yangon to Mandalay. Fantastic people, not so great roads. But then again, all the people we met when having problems with our bikes :) Thanks for sharing.

Adventures! Travel in SE Asia where the weather is temperate all year long and a lot cheap food and water everywhere, so no need to pack much . There have been a few who use only 1 pannier to carry stuffs . I like to bundle in to plastic bag and use bungee cord to strap securely. to prevent from knocking off from going over pot hole and thieves. Nice video.

You did a great job editing and music selection.... Less than a year I'll be retiring and my goal is to bicycle tour across the U.S.A., then south through Central and South America before heading to S.E. Asia and do a tour similar to yours.... thanks for the great video....

    Hi,
I have seen your CZcams video about cycling trip in VietNam and I have a
    few questions regarding logistics.
Did you fly your bike into VietNam with you?
    which airline?
how much did the extra baggage cost?
was it hard to get a box to fly it back out?
did you find any professional bike shops that were helpful?
were you able to find parts easily?
    tires? CO2 canisters?
what did you use for directions?
    GPS? paper map?
did you have cell service everywhere?
did you rely on satelliete GPS app?
was it safe to have street-vendor food?
were there enough gas stations along the roads in order to get bottled water?
    How did you find accommodations?
Did you stay in local hotels? motels?
was it necessary to book in advance?
was it easy to find one without reservations?
how did you find decent hotels without reservations?
    Google maps?
    average price per night?
did hotels/motels have decent facilities like hot-water showers?
    were the road pretty bad?
did you need mountain-bike tires to survive the roads?
did you have many flat tires?
what season were you there at?
when is the dry season there?
how hot does it get during the day?
does it rain once a day like a typical tropical climate?
did locals speak enough English to help with directions?
    with locating restaurants and hotels?
did you meet many foreign cyclists there?
    Thank you
    Ben

Very nice video. I also did a trip in February-March 2015. Starting in Nong Khai and followed the Mekong river south to Mukdahan. I entered into Laos west of Pakse and continued down south to Cambodia before turning west again to Thailand. I was kind of planning a new ride next year 2016 also in february. How is cycling in North Laos?Is it easy to find places to stay overnight?
