Paul - what a lovely, sad surprise - thank you so much for posting this. I'm Rod's sister, and it's wonderful - even after 15 years - to be able to see and hear his amazing playing.....

Amazing, the first time I have ever seen my uncle in all his glory on the trumpet. What a great loss.

A Joy to see & almost hear The Rug man what a Bass Player he was. AND I have to mention that awesome Trumpet solo Rob could make Gabriel sit up take notice.

You may not recognize me by my silly CZcams name, but I am Debbie Kennedy. I am crying as I type this, but I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for not only recording this, but also for uploading it.
Seeing this transports me right back to those days, those carefree, happy, music-filled days where I was lucky enough to hear Rod playing/practicing every single day, seeing as we lived together for 5 & 1/2 years. He was the love of my life...
Seeing this makes me miss him more than ever & also makes me wonder what the hell he would sound like if he were alive today, how would his playing have developed, his musical tastes, where would he be, who would he be playing with, & the questions just go on & on, which makes me SO MAD at him for allowing his life to go in such a stupid, STUPID way. If I could, I would slap him upside the head & say "What the HELL were you THINKING???!!!". I guess I'll have to do that when I pass, too.
Thank you, Paul. Seeing him again means more to me than you could ever possibly imagine.
    Much love x o

+27boof Haha. Remember that time when he'd just got back from a cruise and played bad songs (Hawaii-5-0 etc) for what seemed like 2 hours, getting it out of his system? One after another..... Or at Jann's once, he played a ballad unaccompanied on Antony's tenor and sounded great! hehe Hmm There's a lot of stories.. I should make a page for them on my website (adamponting.com) - or maybe this page is a good place. 'upside the head' hehehehe. U so NY. :-)
Thanks Paul. Great to see Joe too. ps man, Bernie swings!!
Oh, one more story, my first Rod story, from when we were 12 or 13, I think. 1984ish. He ('Glen Innes' as he became known) had played at a 5 o'clock concert at a music camp, and his solo consisted entirely of super-high notes on trumpet.. There was fierce debate afterwards as to whether it was amazing, or just technically impressive but musically-meaningless high notes hehe.

      LOL!!! :D
Thanks SO MUCH, Ponno! What a great story (& yes, I remember the Hawaii-5-0, & getting it out of his system :D )
I love the last story, too! I wish I'd heard it. Sounds like the kind of thing I would have liked, at that age, hee, hee :D
Lots of love to you x o
