Maggie's a veteran in this game.Congratulations sister.
70k? Last I checked you were at 30. deserved, easily one of the best movie review channels on youtube
Not an avid commenter in your channel, I've been following for like a year or so, and damn! Happy for you! Wish you all the best
Someone should write a book on all the major film roles Harvey Keitel was up for and then lost for a variety of reasons.
Harvey's gonna be okayyayay
Suggestion for next milestone video: Can you go through the books on that shelf and why each is there? I can’t be the only one who is darn curious.
She's done that in the past. It's dug deep in the videos she's made, but I saw it a while back
@YoShImUrA53
Aww man, I missed it.
Or why her video are all mirrored.
I could smell the world of Blade Runner.
Yep. Fried rice and Chinese food. A little of that stenchy stale wet old city sewer stink. Dried semen.
Love her answer to what "What turns you off?" Very on point.
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Have you ever given a town an enema?
On what turns you off: There was a line from the play/movie Eques where Dr. Drystone states," The norm is the laughter in a child's eyes...
it is also the dead stare in a million adults'. "
Thank you for staying authentic and honest in all your videos. It’s a breath of fresh air on an already crowded platform to be able to watch and listen to someone who isn’t afraid of what people may think of them or their opinions! Keep doing what you’re doing! 😊
Swans - To Be Kind is such a great answer. I’ve been really digging cinematic music lately s as well
Congrats Maggie! We appreciate your simple, no muss no fuss approach to movies (jn the age of overdone, overstuffed content)
Congratulations, Maggie. I've been watching you for years, and I'm happy to see someone as thoughtful, artistic, and sophisticated as you grow in popularity. Keep it up, and best of luck with everything.
Maggie I just have nothing but love for you, you are so articulate and authentic. Every time I hear you talk I feel smarter and healed.
Mozarts 40th in Gminor aaaand Mozarts Requiem. Mozarts greatest works are glimpses of Heaven.
Michael Gira, i believe the writer of Swans music, also wrote a song for his other band, Angels of Light, entitled “Untitled Love Song” which is perhaps the most devastatingly beautiful song I believe to have ever been written.
It’s no surprise Maggie has such great taste in music too!
Your answer for the "turn-offs" question was nothing short of profound. A+
Great insight into Martin Sheen having a boyishness to him. I think that’s a major part of that character. Love it!
To Be Kind and The Glowing Man are equal for me. Giant music.
Really happy for you. Hopefully 100k this year.
All well deserved and long overdue.
Congratulations on 70K! I am one of the newer subs. I find your reviews intelligent and refreshing. You look at each movie objectively, do not have an ideological bias that influences reviews, and will not blindly fall into line with prevailing critical consensus.
I don’t always agree with you but you’re excellent, you deserve more than 70k (although that’s an amazing number) congratulations !
Your answer on adulthood is just great. Good for you. Bitterness is spiritual death. :)
love that your channel is growing without needing unnecessary added production value, your ideas resonate with a lot of people!
congrats on the 70k!!!
Maggie is so underrated. I would love to see her join some panels at various cons/festivals and show the rest of the world how brilliant and thoughtful she is. She and Cody Leach are the two folks I have such high hopes for as they build their followings! Keep on going!
this concept is so dull but she has insane charisma that makes me want to follow this channel.
I used to think your reviews were pretentious, but now I look forward to them. Keep the well thought out video essays coming. When did you decide you liked to review movies and which movie was your first review for?
Are you on letterboxd?
Maggie would love to hear your thoughts on Bertrand Mandico’s The Wild Boys
Congrats on 70K! Love the content!
Congrats on 70k!! 🎉
Congrats! I find you so inspiring and definitely look up to you as a film critic and as a person
Congrats!
Gratz on 70K
What’s your favorite baseball team?
Favorite Radiohead song?
Wonderwall🎵
Congratulations on 70k
Channel superb. Also this thread.
Been watching you’re videos for several years now. Congratulations on 70K! Always look forward to your reviews.
I’m hoping you get to 100k, congrats!
Followed you since forever! Keep it up, love your authentic videos!
Always insightful. Always
You’re an excellent reviewer!!
Been a lurker/admirer for a long time....just subscribed...your answer to "what turns you off" was so honest and raw and SO IN SYNC with me, I had to hit subscribe. Love your content my friend.
Top draw content, thanks for sharing ❤
Congrats on the 70K.
Questions:
1) Have you ever worked in the film industry?
2) What is the nature of God ?
God is a concept by which we measure our pain
Fantastic
Congrats on the journey, happy weekend Be Well
Do you like James Bond films? Any favorites?
Your adult description sounds like maybe some formative Catcher in the Rye imprinting
Not that that’s a bad thing, I’m an apologist for the novel, and have been teaching it for 25 years
I love hearing you speak ❤️
New subscriber but I’ve been watching your reviews for a while now! I loved your answer at 10:00 I really felt that.
Congrats on the subs. I love your channel mainly for the authenticity and for the passion you bring to it. Christ, couldn't agree with you more about the adult stuff. Im off to climb a tree ;)
Keep on keeping on Maggie. Your channel belongs to my favorites short list. Thank you for your authenticity. Congrats for the 70k. 💯👍
PS: Please Maggie, make a review of "All of us strangers".
Congratulations on another great milestone. For the question about the 'smell/taste in film' I was reminded when rewatching Rear Window at the weekend how evocative that enclosed set feels on a hot Summer's night - you can almost feel the thick Summer air thoughout, you forget you are watching a set and are totally immersed.
I resonated very much with Paul Mescal's character in Aftersun. Not a dad, but similar ages and similar struggles. I really felt seen by that film in a way that rarely happens. (I don't recall you reviewing that film, definitely worth a shot).
Great Beatles picks... I would add I Am the Walrus and Help. Love the channel.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Also, what are your top ten favorite movies? And Congrats on the 70k subs.
I don't know the exact numbers, but when I subbed a few years ago, I'm pretty sure you weren't at 20K yet. It's almost scary, how growth on YT is exponential. Anyway, congratulations on success YOUR way. And yeah, keep sitting on the floor! - if you do a video sitting in a gamer's chair with some big microphone on a desk in front of you, I'd freak the hell out, lol. Thanks for creating a space on CZcams for thoughtful discussion.
I related to Leonard Bast in “Howard’s End”.
Congratulations to you. I really admire your love of films. Your voice is do calming and your insight on films is so impressive. Very lovely girl too..
What is the reason behind this extreme openness of the actors in Inside The Actors studio?
When I want to see a movie, especially one getting a lot of good reviews, I find myself wanting to hear what you say about it because it tends to be different than mainstream opinion. Congrats on 70K!
I recommend Where Does a Body End? Swans doco if you haven't seen it
I love her
I hope you review the movie Femme from last year one day, I would like to hear your opinion on that! Congrats on the 70k!🎉
Classical music? You mean heavy metal? Awesome!
Congrats!
Hello Maggie, good evening! Congratulations for the 70 K subscribers for your channel. I don't know much about you, I only know that you live in Texas (maybe I'm wrong). The first video of yours that you found and watched on CZcams was about one post-review of the movie "The Dark Knight" (2008), by Christopher Nolan. My favorite video of yours, is one about your library of books in cinema ("bookshelf"). I typed this message using English as my second language. Greetings from Sonora, México 🇲🇽, which is a border state with USA.
Trust me, Maggie. This girl is NOT looking rough. 😊
I haven't watched the whole video, but I agree that Martin Sheen was perfect as Willard. While the other actors mentioned would have been decent, Mr. Sheen had something... something about his delivery and mannerisms that really clicked for that particular character. He seemed like a standard-issue good ol' American boy, but with a darkness and an edge that wasn't fully defined.
Did they do a remake of Willard? I sure missed that.
@@kbrewski1 Wut?
@@jimheimerl1637
No speaka Anglish? 🙄
@@kbrewski1 What did you mean by "Did they do a remake of Willard? I sure missed that."? Do *you* "speaka Anglish"?

What you said about adulthood is exactly how I’ve felt about it, even before becoming one. As I kid, meeting friends’ parents, teachers, etc. and hearing over and over how the things I thought I could connect with them on (like music, movies, activities, etc.) were something they weren’t passionate about anymore was frightening to me. I was scared about the reality of growing up and growing numb.
Even though I’ve been able to hold onto my passions and develop new ones along the way, my childhood fear of growing up has only been generally reinforced in adulthood because it seems more normalized and acceptable to be complacent, passive, and dispassionate; the older we get, the more it seems that experiences, energy, responsibilities, stress, anxieties, etc. of adulthood overtake the capacity to look at and explore life with a “childlike” sense of wonder, awe, and passion.
For my part, holding onto and furthering exploring my passions, while (often in vain) trying to connect with others about theirs, has kept me sane as an adult.
Congratulations! Well deserved.
What are your favorite films from different countries? (I'm of course referring to mainly non-American and non-English movies)
What are your favorite video games?
Favorite animated movies?
Do you watch any CZcams film reviewers/critics? If so, who are your favorites?
Ha! I have almost all of the 'Inside the Actors Studio' videos stashed on a hard drive. Even as a Brit, I always found them fascinating. To be honest the Pivot questions seemed to be something of nothing in particular but they were always fun to irritate or entertain the guests with. As far as music is concerned, ever since a young age I have been listening to music that has spanned centuries and looked toward to the future, my faves being Sibelius and Mahler forever as far as classical music is concerned, through to punk, new wave, jazz, rock, rap, techno, drill & bass, all sorts of EDM, ambient and even fantastic Bulgarian throat singing. I still keep my ear out for new sounds and did try to give Swans 'To Be Kind' a listen but found it didn't click with me. Maybe, I'll try again and see if I missed something, after hearing your recommend. And there's me, a fan of Squarepusher's 'Go Plastic'. Go annoy your neighbours with that one friends. Congrats on the 70K+ subs by the way. Well done✨
Your 3 favourite songs by The Beatles are the same as mine. ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ still sounds like the future.
Congratulations. What's the latest movie that really made you want to read the book behind it ?
To Be Kind is fantastic.
Her & Fantano could have a quality conversation about that album
@@HomerSimpsonIsCool Yes, indeed. A solid TEN. Fantano is actually the one who first brought Swans to my attention. Well, actually, he tipped me off to The Seer, their album prior to To Be Kind, first, which is also pretty fantastic.
since you mentioned to be kind, have you listened to black country new road or black midi? they are pretty good, similar and newer
3rd act Scarface 😂 I'm stealing that!!
Hi Maggie, I love your work from Turkey
1) what do you do for a living
2) have you ever considered/tried professional screenwriting
As soon as you read the comment about The Beatles songs, I thought "Tomorrow Never Knows" - crazy coincidence!
Smell the world of a movie? "Heaven's Gate". "Taxi Driver". "Bringing Out the Dead". "The War Zone". "Pusher II". All pretty fucked up...
Just wanted to pop in and say, you and me would be fast friends and I would love to hang out and smoke weed and talk movies and music and climb trees!
"What turns you off? Adults." Is crazy out of context
During the early days of the pandemic I went to see The Hunt in theaters. The subject matter was so dark and the paranoia over covid was building in such a sinister way, I was so disturbed by the movie I left like 10 minutes in. Only time I've ever had to leave because a film was "emotionally difficult". Doubt I would have that reaction if I watched it today
Have you talked about any Bela Tarr films
What do you think about Andrzej Zulawski's films?
Your abs look poppin' this video. You been working out?
Swans! Yes! Children of God and The Great Annihilator.
I remember that person asking about The Florida Project. Why answer a question from someone who couldn’t even finish a fantastic film like that? They don’t deserve a response.
Please review 2023’s The Promised Land with Madds Mikkelsen
Never heard the Swans before. They have a slight Stooges Raw Power vibe.
Which is a better movie 48 Hours or Reservoir Dogs?
I love your answer about what you would say at the Pearly Gates with God, I never would have thought of that, you want all the answers to every mystery.
🐐
Gonna plug in my topic video suggestion again just in case :)
Good actors that pick bad movies/projects
Saw Swans live and I almost had to take a break cause it got so intense
Swans is awesome. The Burning World is also a great album.
Her advice on being real is so real, that I might make that youtube video I've been aching to make 🩶
What’s your favorite book
You're avatar isn't a hommage to Possession??
Missed opportunity for 69K subs video
“I don’t like small talk.” For some reason that rings so true for you. I don’t know you, but I know that’s 100% factual.
