    There are n scale trains - then there’s Scaletrains. It’s a league of its own. No one comes close to the level of detail, ease of upgrade from DC to DCC and sound and reliability as these guys. ❤

    Jimmy, I work in Cleveland where there is a CSX intermodal yard, and between that and the port authority, around here it’s more rare to see an exclusively CSX powered train. MOST I see have a mix of CSX and NS. just food for thought. Great review!

    October 2023 I purchased a Scaletrains GE C44-9W DCC&Sound equipped N scale for my NS coal train operations. I was excited to get it and right out if the box I was amazed at the detail. But there was an electrical issue. It would power up but didn't move and within 10 seconds the body started to bulge. Uh oh! So I called Scaletrains and they said mail it to them and they'll send me a replacement. Well 2 days later the replacement was at my hime even before I had the original shipped out. It worked fine. So for Christmas, I purchase 2 sister Dash 9s so I could have a complete group of them. Now I'm going to have to step up my game in layout sculpting and greenery skills. 😊

    So happy that you've hooked up with the ScaleTrains team. I've been loving both their HO and N equipment since the beginning. Oh, and your layout's looking great!

    Most of my locomotives are Scaletrains Rivet Counter. It's about the only thing I buy brand new.
    I also started out wanting to model BN, but quickly added BNSF, and then took off from there to where I have BN. BNSF, NS, CSX, CN, CP, BCR, and a few short rail names. Doesn't hurt to have a few road names, so you can always throw a foreign power loco in the mix.

    How Tomorrow Moves... The music between 2:43 and 4:57 along with the amazing shots of this locomotive makes it seem like I'm watching a promotional video from CSX. This locomotive along with literally every other Scale Trains model does very well in Photos and Videos. Great Work.

    Howdy Jimmy! That is a really sharp engine. Amazing how much detail they can get on an N scale loco.
    I have the same thing in my area... primarily CSX and NS but do see the occasional BNSF, UP, and CP. In fact there is a dual CSX mainline 1/2 mile from my house. I model in HO and ScaleTrains is my go to locos when buying new. People must really like them because I don't see that many on the used market for sale. Nicely done and thanks for sharing 🤠

    • @gregdcross

      I purchased 3 N scale Dash 9s from Scaletrains last Fall for my NS coal train layout. To really appreciate the details they have done, you have to use a magnifying glass or jewlers specks. It's as if they shrunk every detail down from their HO scale and kept everything just as sharp. And slow speed operation is so incredibly smooth.

    Very nice. I enjoy running 'N' scale. But I model in 'HO' because 'N' is just to small for me to work on. But these a re nice looking engines. Thanks for sharing.

    Let’s see, CSX is PPR, NYC, CO, BO, Seaboard Coastline, and Louisville and Nashville. Basically half the United States . Most of the major railroads that made the Easter half of the US. Very pretty model but outside of my modeling years. Still waiting on an SP cab Forward from Intermountain. I know it doesn’t fit what I model, but it is such a cool locomotive. Thanks doing these videos Jimmy.

    I believe detail wise, Scale Trains has made everyone up their game. I have one of their HO SDL39's. The details are incredible. I could see other manufacturers doing a forehead slap & thinking 'OMG', look what we gotta do to keep up, when these first came out.

    “Jimmy - Why do you have CSX on your layout when you model NS?” 🤨🤦‍♀️🙄
    Rule No 1 of model railroading… that’s why.
    When I was a kid, my Dad had a USA HO layout that was strictly Kansas as far as landscape went but his fleet was CSX, CN, CP, SOO, NS, AT&SF (🫠😍😁), BNSF, UP and even a NYC steamie.
    If it was USA, it went on the layout, end of. Loco/rolling stock/passenger cars - didn’t care as long as it was USA. 🤷‍♀️
    Was a sad day when the Santa Fe locos were sold so he could swap to Australian - that’s why my own fleet is a mixture of USA/British & got a few Aussie including the “Queen of Steam”Newcastle Flyer.
    That’s the beauty of freelancing - whatever you like can work, all you do is pretend there’s a huge celebration in town/city on the layout and the “foreign engine” is a “Guest of Honour”.
    Flying Scotsman himself actually came to Australia as part of a big celebration of Steam. The Flying Scotsman is just that - a Scotsman, from the UK so there’s no reason why a loco from a different Railroad still cannot “work” on any layout. 😉

    So this isn’t a Q&A episode, but I’m curious how difficult it would be to make a defect detector for a model railroad.
    I don’t know about the capabilities of arduinos really, and can’t write code, but I have a hunch about how it works and know how to use ChatGPT.
    Can you use a proximity sensor to roll a random number between 1 and 100, and on a 1 or 2, it plays a hotbox recording, on 3 or 4 a dragging equipment, and everything else is normal? I figure you can put the sounds on an SD card and have a simple speaker in a hut.
    Any thoughts?

    Nice looking engine but I'm more of a 70's/80's guy. I've preordered the ScaleTains D&RGW SD40T-2 in N scale. The Intermountains looked good but the snow plow on the pilot could be way better. ScaleTrains will be offering a much better plow.

    • @rwissbaum9849
      @rwissbaum9849 Před 2 měsíci

      On April 18, when Jimmy first said "check out these great suppliers..." I thought he was going to be highlighting little-known hobby suppliers. Instead, it appears that he is just providing paid spots to commercial sponsors. IMO, his videos should include the "Includes Paid Promotions" disclaimer. Of course, this comment (and likely yours as well) will disappear soon!

    • @lonluna721

      I have a bought a few non locomotive items from Trains in The Valley which were used which is great for me. I haven't seen any used locomotives on their site yet and I'm hoping they will start stocking more N-Scale items. The engine Jimmy is showing today looks amazing and also a little steep for my budget but they are always fun to see running!

    • @mikevanderslice6744
      @mikevanderslice6744 Před 2 měsíci

      Dude. What are you talking about? 1. This video's sponsors ARE small suppliers. 2. You have a thousand subs on your own channel, so how do you not understand how sponsorships work? This is the world in which we live. Do you also shake your fist at the TV and growl, "Tarnation! These dadgum commercials!"

    • @lonluna721

      @@mikevanderslice6744 Mike, I think you are - politely - calling me a curmudgeon, and I have to admit, you're right and I'm wrong. Of *course* Jimmy is monetizing his channel, as he has every right to do, and I wish him well. (In fact, I continue to watch his videos, and I presume that makes him a few pennies every time I do so.) What prompted my complaint was the disconnect between my expectations ("Oh, cool. Jimmy's giving a leg up to small businesses who can't afford advertising.") and the reality ("Jimmy's getting pad to promote hobby-related businesses.") I guess I need to thank Jimmy that we are not watching commercials for Ozempic or Cialis! Well done for calling me out and bringing me back to some semblance of reality.
