- Interstitial lung disease or ILD is an autoimmune condition of the lung. In some people, the body will attack itself and when it happens in the lung, it is a problem. Once the body begins to attack the lung, you become more short of breath. This video will tell you why.

Thank you this was a great presentation. I have pulmonary fibroisis on the bases of both lungs mild copd and empezima scattered in my lungs but I am doing good I am very blessed that yearly ct scans show no progression. I have had Drs that have suggested RA and connective tissue disease but no actual diagnoisis of them. There are times bloodwork RA factor high and other times not. I also am pre diabetic A1C 6.6 and have 3 stents in my heart from CAD right main left main and the LAD as well as thyroid levels sometimes high sometimes not and high blood pressure even on meds still runs high before the end of the day and my knees are. I dont have much faith in Drs I have seen including specailists that keep me on medications and dont care to explore what is causing all these issues refill prescriptions and see you back in 6 months next... Recently I went to a local event which I came across a vendor and purchased 100% Cold pressed Extra virgin CBD oil 0% thc for health benefits. I have had a chronic cough for years. From the first dose my cough got better! My voice didnt sound hoarsh I dont feel out of breathe I can walk up and down steps without feeling I can hardly breathe and all my energy drainned my blood pressure has been pretty normal and even low. This has felt like magic! I have been using this about a week. I am feeling better than I have in a very long time . My focus is better.and no fatigue is gone not as much pain in my hands and legs. Thank you so much for this clear and concise description of ILD. I was recently hospitalized and was able to review my radiology reports in our patient portal and saw this diagnosis of my lungs. There was no mention of it in the hospital and I haven't had my follow up with my pulmonologist yet, but it's good to have this info when I have the conversation with him. That was the best explanation ever! My husband has had this over 30 years. We did not know what had happened when he was 21, but felt confident it had something to do with a chemical inhalation and an autoimmune reaction. The inflammation went on too long and it caused scaring. We found a good Pulmonogist and he put him on Prednisone 20mg every other day. Inflammation reduced and he was able to function almost normaly. He never could run a marathon, but otherwise fine. Until 2018, he started taking heart meds, developed a cough, kidney cancer, put on Tamsulosin. Chemotherapy, lots of steroids reduced inflammation. Kidney out cancer gone. CT showed blood clots or infiltrates in lungs. Still on heart meds, Tamsulosin. Out of breath, back and forth to doctors, put on antibiotics. Feb. 2019 went into ARDs. Two months in hospital. Almost died. Ventilator, induced coma. Plasmafloresis and high dose steroids pulled him out of ARDS. Came home on 10L of O2. Took a year, but was almost off O2, then lung collapsed in April of this year. Placed in covid ward based on his imagining. Test negative. Two more lung collapses. He was off all heart meds by this time and off Tamsulosin. But prostate problem put back on Tamsulosin. Lung function decreased O2 sats bad. Tamsulosin caused problems as observation by visiting nurse. Increased Prednisone. Problems resolved, but lung collapsed again. Lung surgery to correct, put on prostate med in same family as Tamsulosin. Went into ARDs again. Back in covid ward. On high O2, treated with high dose steroids just like the covid patients there. Improved. Total covid tests 6 negative. This is drug induced sensitivity pneumoniatis leading to ILD. What is going on? And why are covid patients having the same complications? Are their medications causing the complications?

May I know how was the ild cured
@@sravanik6220 removing medications that cause lung issues. There were several on recall. We are considering immunizations given to him in the military as the initial flare. He is now on 15 mg of Prednisone daily. Until 2019, he was on 20mg Prednisone daily to keep inflammation at bay. He was on Prednisone since 1996. In early 2000 another doctor noted "whatever it was ran it's course". But the Prednisone seemed to have caused adrenal glad issues. Needed to stay on Prednisone. He was fine until flare in 2019. He is now dealing with permanent damage to lungs caused from repeated flares and injury from intubation. In his file is a scientific paper discussing the necessity of genetic knowledge when considering a medication regime. We are not all genetically the same. I will post article if I can access online.

Per a CT Scan, it has been determined that I have ILD. Thias coming Monday I will be seeing a pulmonologist to further diagnose. Your explanation was excellent.

Thank you for the presentation. I have a ILD (not fibrosis thank God) and taking steroids right now, 20 mg prednisone/day. The max dose I had was 100 mg for week and reduced it back to 5mg per day after 10-11 months. Unfortunately, at that amount I had symptoms again and was hospitalized for 3 days. But, I m good now. I walked the other day 10 km. For what I was told, many people have a recurrence during tapering of the dose. I also did BAL bronchoscopy and all the other tests.

Can I please ask you a question. Yesterday I had a chest X-ray and the findings said :Mild interstitial prominence is chronic. (I cannot reach my asthma doctor or my primary dr and am worried). Does this mean I have scarring and does it mean I have mild ILD?

This was very helpful. I just got diagnosed with ILD. Although I have had my symptoms for 2yrs now. They thought it was sarcoidosis but after several biopsies its not. I have gotton so bad I can't do ANTHING. I feel I'm a candidate for lung transplant but my Dr hasn't really mention it. They just want to put me on steroids which won't help my breathing just the coughing. They is so overwhelming. Once again very informative.

Hello that was the best explanation I ever heard , I have had IPF sense 2015 I,m on oxygen ,but would like to try the new medication to slow down the fibrous . I,m also afraid to go out because of covid-19, but I have too , go to my doctors soon. God be with me and protect me Amen

This was such a good explanation. I feel so frustrated about my diagnosis and treatment. I do have IPF, but all that is being done is supplemental 02. One doctor (pulmonologist) thinks we should just wait and see. Another doctor (rheumatologist is unsure if it is caused by Sjogren's Syndrome. I am 70 and not ready to give up on my health. I am in Montana with limited IPF doctors (I think the closest specialist is over 300 miles away.

Omg this was the greatest explanation I’ve come across in the last 4 years ! I’ve been taking care of my mom who’s been diagnosed with ILD. It’s crazy because she’s in her early 50’s and the coughing has gotten persistent. Dr, are there any meds that you recommend to slow down the scarring of the lungs other than Prednisone ?

I was disgnosed in march 2022 with basilar ILD and minimal obstructive airways disease after covid pneumonia and hospitalization for hypoxia,tachychardia and so on. The pulminologist was very rude and did not provide a clear diagnosis I had to read my paperwork and do dresearch...so far only treatment is inhaler and nasal spray. I wasnt even told its a lung disease and that its permanent. I still have pain when i take deep breathes and feel stiffness ...the doctor has listened to my lungs the other day and hears crackling. I wish I was treated by a good pulminoglost like you who cares about patient.

Could you talk about the significance of PFTs? I have a chronic cough of 2 yrs (post flu), was diagnosed with mild ILD based on CTs, but my PFT scores were apparently very high and I wonder about the significance.

I just had a CT scan in the ER for something unrelated, but I do have a cough. My CT came back with results that said “Mild interstitial thickening is seen in both lung bases posteriorly.” Is this the same thing that was discussed in this video? Is this like the beginning stages?

I enjoyed this vvideo. Just a quick question. I had covid 19 pneumonia with sepsis in 2020. I show ILD on my medical history. I just seen this recently and my question is if I this diagnosis from covid, will that stay as a diagnosis?? I know its supposed to be no cure and usually progresses but in all cases?? I have been diagnosed with ILD caused by GPA severe type of vasculitis.Now I'm waiting for Rituximab therapy.Hopefully I feel better after treatment.Becausr now I'm in very bad shape 😢

It's genetically spread out in my maternal aunts and uncle..My Mom , 2 of my aunts already died because of this. Rest 3 are suffering from the same ILD. disease.

I have just been diagnosed with ILD but my specialist does not seem to be treating it as an urgent issue. I have had no treatment because she wants to take my case to a team of lung specialists that meets monthly. That means I have to wait for two months to see her again. In the mean time my breathing is getting worse and my cough is sounding different. It is worrying me that no treatment has been suggested.
