    I wear the Birkenstock Gizeh in size 41 with bare feet. I have had them in black and now tobacco brown. Worn them for more than 10 years. They are great shoes to wear, and really amazing when they mold to the foot and fit like a glove. So nice to wear them all day! I wear them mostly in the summers months.

    Am I the only one who didn’t think they were hard to break in? Granted I wore mine mainly just for walks when i got my first pair. After a few days, I wore them pretty much every day lol. Every time I get a new pair, I can wear them pretty much all day. Unfortunately, the weather in the Midwest doesn’t allow me to wear them all year, otherwise I would lol. Truly the BEST sandals!

I'lI wear those less because I swear by Arizona suede. I have the acid green pair and waiting for the Blau to be delivered. I've worn Birks for years and the Arizona suede or leather are by far the most comfy. They also look really cool, especially in the new modern colours. The original hippy sandal, so darn cool.

    Worth seeing and honest review of Birkenstock sandals! Yes, you have to bite your way through the break in phase at Birkenstock, only then will they become the most comfortable shoes in the world! You actually wonder when you slip into a brand new pair how people can find this comfortable. But they have sandals that have been worn in for months or years, which adapt to their own feet with each wear. It takes some time to get there. If you want to save yourself this phase, you can take the Soft Footbed Birkenstock, recognizable by the blue font color in the footbed, they are soft from the first time you wear them. But they last shorter in my experience. The original Birkenstock footbed is unmatched and very durable. I have Birkenstock older than 10 years. Maybe you will do another update review in a few weeks? Best regards 👣😎🤗

    • @eva.evangelou
      @eva.evangelou  Před 3 lety +2

      Hahah thanks - and it's exactly these reviews of the fact that people have used them for so long and swear by them that convinced me, but let's see:) They're definitely more comfortable now, though I don't know how they'll hold up on a long walk.

    • @tochnitm
      @tochnitm Před 3 lety +1

      @@eva.evangelou Exactly, they are only a few miles ahead of you in Birkenstocks :) Well, for me it is like that if someone said you have to cover a huge distance, choose a pair of shoes, it would be an old pair of Birkis, there presses and does not rub anything. Recently seen a video of two girls who dragged Birkenstock with them on a long hike to switch to when their hiking boots hurt.

    • @kj3d812
      @kj3d812 Před 2 lety +2

      @tochnitm the only problem is that Birkenstock only offers the Gizeh (the style shown in this video) in one color: Faded Aqua. Which isn't my go-to color at all, since pale colors don't look good on my pale-white feet. I did try the soft footbeds in another style a couple years ago but was never really able to break them in, even after repeated wearings. :( Yet for some reason here I am again, considering getting a pair of the Gizehs (which I haven't tried) because my flat feet really need the support to alleviate the severe pronation -- and subsequent ankle and knee pain -- that results when I don't have supportive shoes.

      @tochnitm How do you care for your Birkenstock’s that can last you 10 years? Do you have to regularly moisturize with sealant all around the cork? I found that my soft bed ones from only last year that I’ve worn almost every day ( exchanging them with my 3 yrs. old Mayari style ( both of them are that style), the cork has opened by the big toe and heel ( older ones) and now the 1 yr. old ones, I discovered the left heel is cracked😱 I surely hope it wasn’t my fault when I’m trying to stretch my calves with them on and they flexed too much?😬😔

  • @StellaWaldvogel
    @StellaWaldvogel Před 2 lety +5

    A lot of the break in process depends on your feet. The arch supports don't bother me at all. It's the uppers that give me problems at first. So I always get real leather that will mold and soften up over time. I condition it, too. Birkenstock oiled leather is extremely stiff when it's new. My ideal comfort sandal would be a Birkenstock regular footbed with thick, soft buffalo uppers like my Mephistos, but alas, that doesn't exist.

Two Arizonas(the two strap ones), a rubber clog pair(still comes with the cork insert & are in the professional line), a boot which has the fuzzy lining, a wedge dress shoe, and two "regular" looking shoes. One laces up & the other is kinda like deck shoe.
      But to answer your other question on which is my favorite. I don't think I can answer that since I genuinely like them all. I bought them all in the hopes of getting rid of mainstream shoes even though I still have some.

Birkenstocks are meant to be broken in slowly and then, once comfortable, last for YEARS… sometimes it takes me a few months of solid wearing to break in a pair… just wanted you to be aware and not be disappointed! But once they are broken in (for me, about three months of daily wear) they become super comfortable since they mold to your feet. Hi! Long-time Gizeh wearer here… and I might have a solution to your pain. The thing with Gizeh is that your feet need to fit snug on the footbed and your heel needs to stay in the heel cup AT ALL TIMES. If you’re feeling pain after the break in period (a few months of constant wear) the sandals are TOO LOOSE. To correct, unbuckle them, center your foot on them, then tighten the strap on the hole where they feel snug, but not too tight. Your foot should not be moving when you walk… if your foot is sliding forward, the toe part with cause pain! Once the strap is firmly holding your heel in the cup, you should be good… after the break in period!

  • @kj3d812
    @kj3d812 Před 4 měsíci

    Whether Birkenstocks are "fashionable" or attractive is truly in the eye of the beholder. I personally think 99% of women's sandals (especially high-heel ones) are god-awful ugly (FUGLY, tbh), but I think Birkenstock Gizehs are BEAUTIFUL. I love them for casual wear and if I needed to ever dress up (rare for me), I'd wear them to a wedding or any other "formal" occasion.
    I'm recovering from plantar fasciitis caused by incorrect shoes 8 months ago, and I had the crazy idea to go back to Birkenstocks for the zero drop and support. This meant buying a NEW pair, since I stupidly gave away my previous ones. Now, for eight months I could not wear anything other than Crocs -- my foot was too sensitive. So buying a pair of these "torture instruments" made no sense. BUT...immediately my feet felt better. They still require some breaking in, but my feet have not been this happy in almost a year. I bought a pair of my beloved Gizehs as well as a pair of Bostons (wearing the Bostons as I write this), and I am just in seventh heaven.
    I should mention that I have flexible low arches (almost flat feet) that pronate inward, and the Birks help stabilize that while also supporting my arch/instep, etc. like custom orthotics but in a less rigid way. (Fun fact: Rigid and semi-rigid orthotics do *not* work for those of us who have equinus.) I also have a bunion that doesn't take kindly to the strap across the ball of the foot styles, and to make things even more complicated, I have wide (2E) feet. Birkenstock Gizehs check all the right boxes for my weird female feet.
    Birkenstocks may not be for everyone, but for me, they're currently my new best friends.
    p.s. The break-in period is 1-2 weeks, though some people may need a month or more. If your Birks don't seem to be getting more comfortable, you may have the wrong size, which causes the raised areas of the footbed to hit in the wrong spots. (I had a "pedorthist" fit me in size 38EU, which was WAY too small -- he claimed, "I don't fit people according to Birkenstock's recommendations, I size down." Which is flat-out *wrong*! My toes were bumping painfully against the front of the shoe; when I exchanged them for my correct size 39, they fit perfectly.)

  • @SandraHernandez-mz7um

    I hear if you wear them wet they will mold to your feet faster and if the arch is to high you can tap them with a hammer but not to hard to mold the arch faster.

    So, yeah. Big difference between soft foot bed and standard soles day 1. yes, the shoes have to use the sweat and oils of your skin to mold them. I am a boater. You aren't supposed to do this, but I walk in lake water a lot launching or landing a boat a lot. I mow grass and do chores in these Arazona's I have to wear steel toe boots at work. Ive got multiple pairs of difrent styles. But to get out of a work boot and slip on an old broken in pair of Stocks. Its like heaven on your feet. I live in in them. Jeans or shorts. The most worn out pair I have is the most comfortable. And it takes years of abuse to wear a pair out. Give em a chance.

Oofos are also comfortable. overtime, Birkenstocks get comfortable, but definitely not fit for 10,000 steps walking. You have to be realistic, they aren’t rubber shoes or trainers. Likewise, they aren’t dancing shoes either. They are meant for normal walking activities and not for special purposes. If they still hurt after sometime then the size is the problem.
