MIND MGMT is #10! Awesome! So amazing that you dig it so much Devon (and Alex having it at 14!) - so happy!
It’s so good!
I just purchased it and I’m dying to play. Looks awesome!
@@jstuart1980 I hope you love it!
My Top 10 are:
1. Puerto Rico
2. Viticulture with Tuscany
3. Dinogenics with Chaos
4. Terraforming Mars
5. Spirit Island
6. Robinson Crusoe
7. BattleTech/CityTech
8. Ticket to Ride Europe
9. Dungeons and Dragons
10. Azul
Devon’s tea sipping bit during Inis just wrecked me. Talk about committing to a bit.
Hahahhahahaha I’m glad it worked for you 😂
This was a lot of fun. I'm so pleased to see that Meg put Clank Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated where she did. I love that game so much. I'm thinking of buying another copy and running through it again. :D H00t!
Forbidden Stars is one of my absolute favorites. I'm so happy to see a content creator giving it the same credit :-)
Yep :)
Woot woot!
I think Alex spent half the year sitting on the Arnak expansion without actually playing it. Glad it added to your fun!
Love when I’m able to table our copy of Dwellings. Fantastic game!
Now I'm itching to play it
I like the Dune Imperium screenshot when Devon is talking about Alien RPG... LOL
Whoops
He's trying to force me back to talking about board games!
Also, Arnak has the most torturous setup of any game I have ever played.
No one ive played it with ever wants to play it again.
The beginning of this video was EPIC, i loved it. Lol.
Thanks for all the videos, so much fun to watch you all. Happy New Year!!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@DevonTalksTabletop My 5 year old daughter loves that tune... so your perfect harmony made me giggle. You are all very entertaining to watch... you have a great fun, fresh and laid back dynamic that is easy for me to relate to and makes for great videos. Looking forward to all you put out this year.
Twilight Imperium IV is the greatest choice. We play with Expansion, newest Codex and 7-8 people the whole weekend. you definitely have to write down every deal you make.
Hahaha so chaotic and so amazing
Devon, my group is currently in a year and a half old DnD campaign.
We are doing Waterdeep Dragon Heist. It's been a blast!
Nice! Sounds like a blast 😊
Thank you for putting out this huge list! It was a lot of fun to go through the whole series, your banter and interactions are truly what kept me coming back. It made me do my own list and realize I need to get some of my favourites out to play again. Now I feel I need to dust off Forbidden stars and give it another go. Oh and Devon you really need to check out Level Up Advanced 5th edition for D&D, it completely revamped the game I already loved. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the recommendation! And I hope you enjoy Forbidden Stars 😊
@ProfessorMeg - DUKE IS THE BEST BOY. He is the actual win condition of the game. If you don't have Duke, why are you even playing?!
Duke is best boy!!!!
Duke & Sparky are goodest bois!
My friend Victor made us sacrifice Duke for the sanity bump one game and I seriously still haven't recovered from it.
Jeez, so many games I agree with... Dwellings, Blood Rage, Alien, Arnak, Cyclades, Rurik, but for me Anachrony is my number 1.
I need to play Anachrony
Love this top 100 series so much!
Appreciate it :)
Lots of fun :)
Great video. Seeing Dwellings on here is great. Still sitting in my #1 spot
Such a fun one
Coop Lost Ruins of Arnak! Exciting!
best intro ever !!! love it
Hahahahaha glad it didn’t break your ears
Cool that you got into Gloomhaven, Alex! I remember you wanted to get rid of it in the past years. ^^ glad u had fun with it.
I haven't played it since I concluded it back in 2020-2021 NYE.
This year I finished Oathsworn and I was debating which one I like best. I'm inclined to think Oathsworn, bc I'm way into narrative and theme. While the cooldown mechanics are awesome too.
For 2023, another humongous game might dethrone them all, Aeon's Trespass: Odyssey. It is very early to say, but it has A LOT going on for it, the narrative is great so far, the encounters, the secrecy, the challenge, the exploration. It is ticking many many boxes. The only negative atm is that I prefer card to dice, but so far it isn't bothering me nearly as much as I thought it could. It's actually exciting to crit and be rewarded xD plus there's lots of mitigation.
Great energy from you guys. Well done Alex for getting these two on the payroll.
Huzzah!
Challenge: Get Alex and Professor Meg to play TI4. See if Professor Meg can fit entirely in the box with the lid on! Up to 1" lid lift allowed. Great list. Love TM, Dune Imperium, and Inis. Would really like to have a chance to play Forbidden Stars. I've come close to buying a copy several times but just don't have the right group to get it played...
I’d love to schedule a Twilight Imperium game!
I will never stop recommending the "Tinkering paws" organizer + characters dashboards for Gloomhaven. It has its cost, but it speeds up the setup tremendously and allows you to keep all progress saved very easily (max 15 minutes from the box).
For me spirit island is the best game of all time. Such a unique and challenging experience
Amazing Intro, love it
Great lists!!! really fun top 100 this year… unsettled, encylopedia and fall of the mountain king were my biggest surprises
Those are good ones!
Unsettled is fantastic
Haven’t played Dune but totally agree with Devon that I games where every single point is a big deal
It makes a game awesome!
I have three Top 10 crossovers with Devon (Moonrakers, Dune Imperium, and SW: Rebellion), and I've been super eager to play Forbidden Stars. Did we just become best friends???
There’s so much room for activities!!!
I loved this! Pretty sure I've watched all of these videos even if I had to do it in chunks. Thanks for the great recommendations! Now I'm wondering, what are your top 10 favorite solo playing games of all time?
I do wanna do a solo list!
@Alex - Was very interesting to see the placement of Endless Winter, Arnak and Dune then rewatch your video comparing all of them from 2 years ago and how you felt about them then but also now we have expansions to look at for Arnak and Dune that can change the game
thanks for the list
Dune is so good. The others are solid as well :)
After finishing this series this year, I'd be curious in hearing a discussion (if there's an interesting one to be had) about the games that are on the top 50 of BGGs popularity list, but not on any one of your top 100 lists. I'm going based off memory (so I might include games that were on lists), but games like Gaia Project / Terra Mystic, Eclipse 2nd Dawn, Twilight Struggle, Great Western Trail, Puerto Rico, Pax Pamir, Wingspan, Orleans, Barrage, Agricola, Underwater Cities, Maracaibo, On Mars.
A lot of those I haven’t played so it’s not necessarily preference (though it still might be once played) but more lack of opportunity to play them 🙂
I´ve got Arkham Horror the 3rd Ed at Christmas, I am sure I will love it! btw awesome top 100, the most exiting top100 out there!
Hahahah I’m happy to bring a smile 😀
Oooh that intro
Well I watched 10-1 and then 20-11 then went to 100-91 and went through them all again so I guess I am another level of weird? Anyway thanks for the videos. Really enjoyed the content and the style which was relaxed and the 3 of you worked well together so embrace the chaos I think. I get bored of top 100 things as it is hours of content but happily watched all these. Great part of the channel Alex.
You guys rarely show much love for Arkham Horror the Living Card Game , it's so good!
Great list guys. Really enjoyed watching your interactions together. Think it'd be really fun to play a game with three.
Woooo! What a ride fwends. The final stats tracking my games I played (P), games I own (O), and games I want to play (W) compared to the games mentioned by the hosts. Overall connections had Devon and Prof. Meg tied for the lead at 29, Alex just behind at 24. For the illustrious top 10 segment, Devon comes out on top with 4 connections, Prof. Meg and Alex both with 3. For the categories Prof. Meg takes (W)7, Devon lands (O)8, and Devon and Alex share (P)20. Totals break down as such:
Devon (P)20, (O)8, (W)5 = 33
Prof. Meg (P)19, (O)6, (W)7 = 32
Alex (P)20, (O)3, (W)4 = 27
So we will meet at Devon's place, Prof. Meg will bring the (W), followed by a Devon (O), and lastly finish with an Alex (P).
Other interesting bits:
Devon: Top section 100-91, 60-51 (5) each; Lowest 80-71 (1); Of note 90-81, 40-31, 10-1 (4) each; Visually like a sound wave (?).
Prof. Meg: Top section 90-81 (5); Lowest 80-71, 70-61, 60-51 (2) each; Of note 50-41, 30-21, 20-11 (4) each; Visually a high early peak, low valley, middle plateau.
Alex: Top section 30-21 (5); Lowest 90-81 (1); Of note 40-31 and 20-11 (4) each, 50-41 and 10-1 (3) each creating a typical upward bell curve from 50-1.
Of my top 10, Devon has 4 (Catan, TM, Everdell, Santorini), Prof. Meg and Alex 2 (Everdell, TM).
On my list of games to play with you if we ever meet will be:
Devon: Catan Cities & Knights, Santorini (w/god powers), Star Wars Rebellion
Prof. Meg: Betrayal at House On The Hill, Merchants of The Dark Road, Stardew Valley
Alex: Castles of Burgundy, Everdell, TM
Thanks for the list. What a fun ride. Can't wait to see what's next....AFTER THIS! HaHa Bye!
So close! I almost caught up :)
@@BoardGameCo Yeah, Devon landed a sleeper with D&D, I don't play hardly ever, I have played a couple one shots so technically I've played. Plus having SW Rebellion, Dwellings as unique to his list helped. Come to think of it I should have totaled games unique to each list and see where the gains actually came from. TM and Everdell are a wash if everyone has them. I'll look into it.
In a shocking twist, Prof. Meg had the most unique games on her list with 17, Devon 16, Alex, 15.
In another bit of interesting analysis I looked at this unique games and marked them green to say "I'll always play it", and red to say "I don't ever want to play this again/I don't need to play this again", blue to say "they're from the I want to play category and won't know till then", and white to say "I'll play it if its what gets tabled". Of these Alex, 2 green, 4 red, 6 blue, 4 white; Devon 5 green, 7 red, 3 blue, 1 white; Prof. Meg 2 green, 8 red, 4 blue, 3 white. So this to me says, take those games out and Alex clearly wins by having more quality picks. But these were just the unique to you games. Inis for example, Alex and Prof. Meg, never want to play that again; Viticulture, same. So numbers could keep dropping. There you go, maybe a more quality controlled list, not many misses. Devon has some of my all time favorites. Meg has more wider range of connections, but could be one and dones easily.
And to be honest Alex you talked up Tak, an abstract I haven't seen before. I dig abstracts, Santorini being one. Curious if you have played any of the GIPF series? I own 5 of the series and they rock. If you haven't played, maybe they go on my short list to play with you sometime. That will score you points for 2023 haha
Yeah Devon is my people!!! Epic game is epic!
Devon is pretty ok
Woot woot! We shall play games together 😃
My Hot takes for this list:
1. Sentinels of the multiverse is only good if you control more than 1 character (so 2 player or solo)
2. Forbidden Stars is just poor man's Starcraft the board game
Fight me!
😛
Sounds like I need to try StarCraft!
@@DevonTalksTabletop It's my favourite competitive game (and the only war simulation game I like) :)
Awesome lists everyone! Really no content creator fits my gaming tastes perfectly and Alex has been close often - but I don't get to play much area control due to my gaming groups so obviously this list felt a lot less that way. Glad to still see TfM and CDMD. Also, Devon wins for me with putting Dune Imperium about where I place it. Arnak so far is a fantastic solo game to me and I'd probably have sold it if not for that - so I'm very excited for the expansion. Also, Dwellings is really fantastic.
Glad you’ve connected with each person’s tastes!
23:38 Yes, I ❤ Dwellings! I have everything for the game - including the wooden treasure tokens! I am looking forward to Andromeda’s Edge (AE), to see the advanced strategy. I think I like the theme of Dwellings better, but we’ll see!
I’m jealous of your upgrades for Dwellings!
Around 56:00 there was a random Dune imperium image
Yep, messed up in editing
Alex, I have tracked down and purchased the KS version Rurik Dawn of Kiev and plan to have it on the table next week for my board game group (4 players) to try out. It has been your enthusiasm and detailed description of the game play that motivated me to purchase this board game. I would like your opinion on which 1 or 2 expansion modules to add in and play to give the best game play experience. I remember you bringing up the modules and I can’t remember which one you preferred in a past video. Please advise and much appreciated.
Hey Alex, which one do you think will be higher ranked for you next year: Cthulhu: Death May Die or Marvel Zombies?
Out of those two, it will be C:DMD for me, but I know Alex has a much longer history with Zombicide.
1:05 Can you imagine opening up a tab for each video and playing them all simultaneously? Wow.
Lol
24:15 Well, I am a Euro person and I really enjoy it. That’s one game in which I don’t really mind the dice combat - because it is quick, simple and fun - and also because most of the factions incentivize you to go into battle, by rewarding you with some benefit for losing your battle. Therefore, you either win your battle and get to go up the glory track and gain 3 victory points, etc… Or you lose your battle but you get your unit back into your ready area immediately instead of having that unit have to stay in the Underworld, etc.
Once you hear that squeaky chair... You can't unhear it. Love the lists though :)
lol, it's the table :)
Be watching the 100 countdown over the last week and i need you three to just keep counting down board games for me.
Got to admit, I think both Talisman and Mansions of Madness (2nd Edition) would be in my top 10, just because of the many amazing experiences and in game stories we create. This is helped by the groups I play them with and they are the games I've played most over the years. I do get Talisman is an older game, but totally cant understand Devon and Alex's lack of love for Mansions (2nd edition).
For me the one game that is missing from the 300 chances of being on these countdowns, is Fog of Love.
How did alex rate endless winter higher than lost ruins of arnak but now it's not even in his top ten when lost ruins is 4??
I think the expansions changed things for him with those three games
Expansions :) we will be talking more about it.
I kinda could see the table get raised a bit on Devon's side when Alex gave praise to Forbidden Stars...
Hahahaha oh dear!
Great finale! I’m curious what game Devon was thinking of when Alex brought up his top 2, it seems like he thought there was a game missing
I completed blanked on Castles of Burgundy. Apparently he'd already listed it!
YES! Sentinels of the Multiverse! It is so underrated--I'm glad to see it here.
Professor, you _have_ to play Terraforming Mars, three players, with drafting. It's unbelievable!
I'll get her too :)
Terraforming Mars Alex! I am so glad that you put this at the no1 spot. Swedish quality game😁
Yep!
If you really enjoy Crokinole I'd suggest Carrom. It's like an in-between of of Crokinole and pool.
Suggest what?
@@BoardGameCo How did a word just disappear form my post? The game is called Carrom.
I’ve wanted to try it 🙂
Interesting how there's some overlap****** , yet no game that made all 3's top 10?!

I got Gloomhaven Early Access on Steam and just like with Alex, it reignited my love for the game. Our group had about 10 sessions with the tabletop and enjoyed it, but eventually stopped playing because of the setup, teardown and game management. I've been championing the Steam version anytime I can since and now it seems to be very popular.
Sanity & Mythos made the Call of Cthulhu RPG, much the same with Elric/Stormbringer having order/chaos mechanism, same with WHFRP (1s ed), Kult, Vampire, Unknown Armies, Alien.. and other titles. Having a metaphysic and psychological system mechanism tied into the paradigm of the setting and its theme really accentuates the system mechanical roleplaying game experience (any other rpg mechanisms comes across as pointless in comparison). Mechanisms like these are so inspirational for ones roleplaying.
20:45 I'm kind of baffled by Devon's space management. I have the expansion boxed in with TI4 and room enough on that same shelf for Eclipse and Queen's Gambit
I'll pass it on :)
Pitty I missed the 'premiere', but will watch this over dessert!
And did Forbidden Stars hit the table after this showdown?
Enjoy :)
Awesome lists. Many hits and also many misses for me but just glad there are so many great games. I didn't think it was possible but Dune Imperium is even better with Immortality expansion. Still waiting for Cthulhu: DMD Marvel re-theme.
is there a way you can post the 3 list somewhere? There is some I would definitely like to put in my wishlist, but it's a bit difficult to go back and rewatch all the episodes.
Done! In the timeatamps
Loved your lists! Thank you for all the entertainment
59:11 Well… Similarities: They both have “Imperium” in their names! :-
I see that you have a Membership for the channel. Do you get a better cut from Patreon or CZcams? I'm thinking Patreon would be better? H00t!
Patreon, thank you!
I am so jealous that you have a consistent D&D group here in Texas
Yes, some love for Arkham Horror (2e)! One of my all-time favorites.
Would love to play games on Devon’s list but don’t have the bank roll 😳 dwellings, forbidden stars, crokinole 💵💵💵 but now he has me thinking I can eat just ramen for a few weeks 😊
Ramen is plenty of nutrition
They’re all worth it. And sometimes they each take long enough you’ll need the ramen.
@@DevonTalksTabletopok I bit the bullet and picked up forbidden stars 😬 how did you get the expansions?? Did you also get or print the new miniatures or can you just use the factions you are not playing with 🤨
28:45 I'm still waiting for someone to develop Grohl Player Adventures, where you start out as a drummer in a garage band, and upgrade your way to forming your own band, and ultimately, becoming a household name.
You should do it!
My current favorite is the HEXplore It system, with Sentinels of the Multiverse as a close second.
Nice!
devon at inis part ... 😅🧡 u guys r so great
Great to see sustained love for TM. I still can’t find a game that can match the fun level of this game. I don’t play with drafting for time and AP sakes, but I love playing with colonies.
So good to see the love for Forbidden Stars 😍
My favorite game as well! (The mechanics of orders is soo good, it creates so much tension: I have to stand up throughout entre game - hours pass I dont know how. its so mentally exhausting in a good way! :)
💪
Love Clank Legacy
I need to try it again
@Alex You might want to try to get a copy of Legends of Void. It's inspired by Terraforming Mars and a really solid game. Have been enjoying that one quite a bit and certainly would recommend it if you enjoy TM.
Great list, enjoyed watching the entire top 100, thanks!
DnD / ttrpgs should be allowed on boardgame lists, I mean you are basically doing the same things as a board game or something like gloomhaven
I won't personally but then but I don't begrudge Devon
Huzzah!
TM is my comfort zone ... even if all players hord on me im always having great time ... its great
I can’t wait for the 16 hour livestream of Twilight Inscription… 2 games back to back?
I wasn't sure if Ark Nova would be on Alex's top 10 or not be on his list because the video was recorded earlier, but now I know. Betting that it will sneak - at least - into his top 20 next year :)
I had to look to see if #5 was divided into 75 timestamps.
Eastern Empires R U L E S ! ! ! ! ! !
Do we count terraforming mars: ares expedition with terraforming mars? Or how does that hold up in your guys eyes?
I think the base game of Cyclades is good (I'd give it a 7/10) despite a few minor issues, mostly around the game's end. However, it becomes amazing when you add the Titans expansion. In fact, the expansion livens up the game so much that I just don't want to play the game without it.
Gloomhaven with great mechanics can be so much better if it was 1/3 the length.
I much prefer each scenario bring a new mechanic and meaningful reward. The mentality to plan and set aside 2 hours and possibly get a team together and go through the setup just to have a repetitive mission is quite a mood killer.
There should be zero grind for boardgames.
I keep comparing this to video games which is “fine” to have some grind since sometimes you get home from a long day and just want some mindless gaming. You just turn on the console and mash the buttons.
Freakin Devon ❤
Hey!
You are all sooooo funny.
Lol thanks
Will you publish a list of top 100 at some point for you three? Fun times with you three, Alex keeps things on the rails but is laid back enough to let Devon and Meg derail everything just enough it doesn't become annoying and is entertaining.
They're all in the time stamps, I'll prob do a recap video and publish a list there or something.
@@BoardGameCo Nice! I saw a bunch of "?" and thought you might be making us watch for the time being 🤘.
Awww thank you!
I'm surprised Encyclopedia was not on Alex top 100 list.
💯 I remember the vids from Alex and Quackalope hyping Encyclopedia. I'm trying to figure out if Alex's opinion changed OR he has so many 5/5 games it just didn't make the list.
I'd guess he hasn't played it enough to make it on the list. Remember Alex is more conservative to so his opinion carries more weight and doesn't come off whimsical.
It would 100% be there, but it hadn't arrived yet when I made the top 100 this year. Next year :)
1:21:30 sorry, Devon, my favorite game is actual StarCraft, not Replacement StarCraft Junior.
207hrs into Gloomhaven as BG stats tells me.. :-O (played through the base game and halfway through Forgotten Circles) by far my most played game of all.. it's got to be my number one right now, probably will be dethroned by Frosthaven soon.. ^^ almost played another 45 hours of jaws of the lion.. ^^ (a lot of GH plays were on TTS, though, as covid did quite interrupt our live meetings..)
Moonrakers is a fantastic game, easily in my top 10 too!
24:33 Well, ask Amy & Maggie (from ThinkerThemer) about it! They liked it - and they aren’t big on the fantasy theme… “A Euro in monster’s clothing”.
That's probably the coolest hair I've seen on a woman lol. Good list, I'm glad you guys mentioned Dune Imperium. Just picked it up.
She's pretty boss
Inis took over blood rage for Alex? I'm interested to hear why
It actually took over last year already
@@BoardGameCo I just checked, Inis was 4th and Blood rage 3rd. Pretty even anyway.
@@BoardGameCo Not according to your 2021 10-1 video :P
I get the impression that Blood Rage is more about the minis and big badass card effects while Inis feels more strategic.
2/30: Crockinole, CDMD
:)
Great series!
Thanks :)
Just to let you guys know, I started here but took the advice to go back to the beginning. Over a day later, I’ve made it through!
Great content guys! Look forward to next years top 💯!
Hahaha nice! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Great Team work!!! What happened between you and Jesse :( ?
Alex, wasn't Castles of Burgundy your #1 last year?
In fact, I'm shocked Castles of Burgundy didn't even appear in the top ten, since it has consistently been there all the years I've watched your channel.
I really need to get Dune Imperium. Endless Winter was a huge disappointment, but I think Dune will not be so.
Yep, I still adore it, but it has dropped a bit for me
All the love for Dune Imperium but I love for the best Dune game... Imperius!!!
