  • As you leave a roundabout and you can't change to left lane because of a car - in that case what should you do? Many learners gets confused on this and I also get many comments on this matter - what to do if there's a car as I'm about to change lane to leave the roundabout. Hopefully this video will help with what to do in these situations.

    This is exactly what I experienced this evening when I indicated to leave the roundabout there was a van came from nowhere behind me. Now I know where it came from. My instructor told me to speed up and use the right lane to leave.

    • @user-qj5pc4pj9k
      @user-qj5pc4pj9k Pƙed rokem

      Exactly. Why take the wrong lane, when you can leave on the right side of correct exit? I did not get this video.

    • @kpopfan674
      @kpopfan674 Pƙed rokem +1

      @@user-qj5pc4pj9k Some exits only have one lane so you have to merge over. In a real situation - not worried about test scores - just ease off, let the moron go ahead, or, if safer (depends where moron is), speed up. If you can't do either safely, there is absolutely nothing wrong with carrying on around the roundabout again, rather than taking a random wrong exit. I've done that when I was in the right lane and realised I should have been in the left one.

    This has confused me, my driving instructor told me if the round about has 2 lanes at the exit and I can't safely move into the left lane because another car I should exit on the right lane and move over to the left lane as soon as possible!

    • @DrivingTV
      @DrivingTV  Pƙed 3 lety +4

      That's fine Cally, but if there is a car then the danger is WHAT IF THE CAR CARRIES ON TO THE NEXT EXIT? So you have to be extra careful even if you exit on the right-lane. The reason you need to get back to the left lane is because everyone knows you are leaving. You are making it clear to everyone. Staying on the right lane gives an impression that you will or might go to the next exit and that is the problem.
      So what your instructor said Cally is correct, but the danger remains.
      Can you see my point Cally? Sorry you're confuse Cally, I'm trying to help and not trying to confuse anyone.
      I hope I made it clear for you and for everyone who are reading this. If it's not clear please do make a comment and I will try my best to answer.

      @@DrivingTV very true. In my situation I had signalled left after the second exit to go off at the 3rd right 0but the car behind me was going too fast to allow me in the left lane and also had there indicator on to go left too. If this was to cause a crash would they be in the wrong for not allowing me (the car infront) to exit safely when getting on the roundabout they would of had to give way to me?
      Either way its great to know where cars are joining and what to watch out for 👍

    • @AceC20
      @AceC20 Pƙed 2 lety

      It’s risky if you’re taking the wrong direction on your test. You won’t fail for taking the wrong route as long as you do it safely but it could irritate the examiner and they might be more inclined to judge you more harshly for your driving faults. It’s not ideal to take the wrong direction for that reason.

    Can I still leave from the 3rd exit right lane ? If the car on my left came from my 1st exit and was on its left lane, it should go to its left or staright ahead... if it goes to its left(my 2nd), I can do the mirror, signal, spiral out to my left and leave from my 3rd exit in the left lane... if it continues to its straight ahead (my 3rd), it should be on the left lane... so can I leave from the right lane ??? (Since both of us are taking the same exit)

    Where I am from people don't know how to use a round a bout, if you could please verify. There is a 4 way yield, one lane round about with one side having the larger amount of traffic into the subdivision. Those entering, follow the leader with no yielding. The 3 other sides are waiting for the traffic to clear. My question is are they suppose to yield before entering the round about so the other 3 sides have a chance to enter?

    Your explanation is very clear. Thank you! May I know if I enter to the right lane of 3rd exit in this case? Please confirm

      Good question. I want to know why we have right lane if we’re supposed to enter left lane at exiting roundabout. It seems safer and less dangerous to enter right lane. But it can mean fail. I don’t get it.

    Sir what if I am in the wrong lane and want to go first exit but I am in the right hand lane should I signal left and wait for someone to let me go pass or carry on and come over?

    Why? Why I cannot use the right line to get off the roundabout? Its safer than speeding up or slowing down and changing lines. My instructor told me if there are separate lines drawn on the road I just should keep my line to the end. I don't get this video. ( the car on the left can come from the top entrance when turning left BTW)

    Just simply go round the roundabout in the right lane and exit the roundabout using the right lane. Then when onto the new road indicate left and pull over to the left lane. Why are you using the right lane then crossing lanes on the roundabout. This is how accidents happen. Stick to your lane and not cut across to the left.

      Hi David
      That's the rule in the UK, and we can't make our own rules.
      These rules has reasons and safety. The one you're saying can be on some roundabouts on multi-lane or because of road works, but on most it's more dangerous.
      Hope this helps!
