I have questions: I recall reading that the violent head banging motion with one’s head over long periods of time while playing or reacting to music might be responsible for some instances of CTE among some musicians and/or fans. Could this be the reason the lead singer “twirls” his head rather than the more violent head banging motion? Also, to the fans nearby, do you end up getting sprayed by sweat? Thanks.
So the "whirl" is one way of doing it and results in the cool hair tornado we see Corpsegrinder doing in this clip, but the more traditional "bang" is also a thing, where the head is banged violently upside down and results in a hypnotic jellyfish flow of hair. CTE from either kind of headbanging seems unlikely unless done for extremely long periods but Corpsegrinder is a pretty bad and atypical example because his neck is thicker than most men's waists and his spinal column is made from fused steel and his skull is made from two different skulls and his brain is comprised entirely of the platonic ideal of rock and the jelly his brain floats in is a kind of bose-eisenstein condensate and is refilled from a wellspring in a druid circle in eastern Wales after every show
