that "clutch" is actually just another brake, so you can left foot brake if you want. the button on your tilt lever will auto tilt the forks to level. that last lever is supposed to move your forks closer and farther apart, some trucks have it, some don't. forklifts are fun things to drive, but some people don't understand that they are heavy machinery, very easy to hurt or kill with them
The extra lever lever can also be for a attachment such as a clamp. Not many basic forklifts have the self spacing forks. You usually find that on larger lifts.
I wish our forklifts had forks that were controlled that way. I have to do that trick were you leave one fork unlocked and the other locked and then you slam the forks on the ground and then shift the mast to move the other fork over.
The clutch disengages drive and applies brake for faster fork movement with the gas pedal. That button is to be pressed while tilting foreward to stop them at a level position rather than tilting all the way down. Good info, happy you said you didn’t know what they did rather than make something up.
The second brake pedal is what is called an "inching brake" it acts as a brake and disengages the transmission so you can slow down the forklift while increasing or decreasing the engine RPM's to raise or lower the forks. : )
I bought my first forklift and watched this video on my way back to my warehouse (almost mostly listen to it) neither me or tow truck driver knew how to operate a forklift, in this 5 min video I learned enough to jump on the back of forklift and lift the fork and unload with it no issue like I really know what I am doing :)) , Thank you
I've only been on a forklift for around 3 months. The company that hired me didn't mind that I had no experience and expected me to learn from the people already there which made my first few days very daunting. My first day working they had me on the forklift just to practice, I work at a block yard so my whole job is based around using the forklift to load customers. My tip to new drivers is not to be very nervous and understand it will take some time to be comfortable with the forklift. Don't be shy to the forklift like I was, my first week I tried my best to avoid having to use it. (That means walking around the whole six-acre yard to stack heavy ass bricks / pavers / flagstone for orders and such) This made my job at first a living hell as everyday I was doing a lot of manual labor that could be made a lot easier if I was on a forklift. The clutch can be used or be completely avoided, I tend to use it more than not. I use it when I need to lift my forks as fast as possible, just hit the clutch and the gas and up it goes. If you do this while you are in forward or reverse make sure you let off the GAS first then the clutch, otherwise if you do the opposite once you let off the clutch you will shoot off in the direction the forklift is set. This video is great as it shows that everyone is not instantly a pro at using the forklift and everyone starts from somewhere. Just give it your all, be safe, and make sure to ask questions if needed.
Lagx. Good comment. 👍 I'm planning to apply at a job doing the same thing. Stacking blocks and operating a forklift. Any advice or is the job pretty straight forward??
Yoooo i had the same job and everyone would get mad at me if i didnt get stuff correct there with the forklift or got in someones way who was faster and more experienced than me.
Thank you so much for this video man. It was my dream to learn to drive a forklift, and your easy instructions made it possible. You helped me realize my dream.
That clutch is used to neutralize the transmission of the forklift jhus incase your lifting something heavy" u step on the clutch so the machine goes to neutral and u accelerate to lift" this helps the machine not to move because once you step on it it's on neutral
The button on the levers if it works properly its soo just incase the forks are leaning forward or backwards that button centers it perfectly verticality!!
Nice video definitely a lot of info there. At work I use the Toyota single/double pallet lift. It’s a little intimidating at first. But the more you practice with it. The more it becomes easier to handle and use.
The button on the 2nd lever is for "self leveling" the forks. If you push the button while tilting the forks they will automatically stop once the forks are level with the ground.
I’ve used that exact model and never had to step on the brake to start it up. For the “clutch” I’ve always used it for when I’m approaching where I have to give it gas to lift a load quickly without completely stopping, the left pedal just makes it so you don’t go forward if you step on the gas
Regarding the 4 levers. As "standard" equipment a forklift only have 2 levers - 1 to raise the forks up and down and 1 to tilt the forks up or down. The others are "optional". The third is normally to move the forks left or right and then the 4th could be used for any number of attachments i.e. rotator, push-pull unit, clamp etc.
The 3ed petale is called the "pilot" it has a neutral/brake effect. It ment to move the forks up and down on the move while controlling the speed of the forklift
I don't understand why a seatbelt would make you safer on a forklift. You are not going fast on a forklift. Might be even safer if you don't have it on so that you can hop out fast if you need to.
The button on your tilt lever makes the forks level out. So if you are tilted all the way back you press that button and press the lever forward and it will stop tilting forward once it reaches level. The last lever spreads the forks.
Don’t use that stupid tilt level button that’s a bad habit to get in to. Only Toyota lifts have these level buttons, I tell people never rely on them because the next lift you drive may not have it! If you can’t eyeball the forks flat keep practicing lol
Been a couple years since I’ve drove a lift but I have an offer and have to go get tested in about 2 hrs. Pretty sure I can still get on one and go but a quick refresher with the levers never hurt 😁
That 'clutch' isnt just another brake. Its a pedal that disengages the transmission, while applying brakes. Keeps the transmission cool, while allowing you to creep forward while under acceleration.
that clutch is the actual brake for the fork. the middle pedal is the hill brake. so if you're on a hill it wont move when its in gear. they are more driven like a manual (stick shift). you will get a lot more control from it by learning how to use that pedal.
Currently in P.I.E. Training for PMUSA...The button on the 2nd lever is an automatic lever whereas if you hold it and pull either back or forward (not quite sure of which) it will automatically level the forks.
lowering the forks doesn't go faster if you rev it, it's gravity operated. It only uses pressure to go up, all over functions (tilt/sideshift/other) can usually be sped up by using the accelerator. I use all 3 pedals all the time, I use the inching pedal mainly like a clutch, to keep it in gear and use the hydraulics without lurching forwards. I use the brake if i want to slow down and don't need to operate the hydraulics
The 4th lever on the Nissan forklifts at my work opens and closes the forks. Like what you did manually with those pins in front, but seems like that lift doesn't have the option.
It's a tool not a toy. A guy at a warehouse I was at made the same mistake of thinking a fork lift is a toy and would race around and do sharp turns. He completely disregarded a fork lift as heavy machinery with two forks. In the end, he took out a co workers leg that it had to be amputated. The young man was in his early 20s, and was made an amputee by someone who referred to a forklift as a toy. Food for thought.
A friend of mine had his foot crushed when an operator tipped over and lost the load. Even though my friend wasn't the operator he got injured. Had to amputate his foot.
ALWAYS use the proper PPE when changing tanks, face shield, heavy gloves, and an apron. One minute taken to don the proper equipment can prevent a life time of regret. A forklift is not a "toy" It weighs more than some cars do. Roughly 100 people per year die in forklift accidents
@@Blankplayerboo so you are saying they don’t matter then? Their families feel differently. It’s like someone whoops been accidentally killed by a gun. It was unnecessary, caused by carelessness.
Just be careful it can be a fun toy but it can be deadly machine also.. the clutch brake (inching brake) allows you to operate the forklift under rev especially when lifting a load and doing minimal forward or backward movement smoothly ... I think the 4th lever is an optional lever if rotating fork blades are fitted... good video..
Thank you for your comment and added insight. Heavy machinery is absolutely something that should be respected and run in a safe controlled manner. It is way to easy to damage something or injure your self or others if your not safely operating the equipment.
Fourth lever is if you run a lift that has quadro/four lift. Only will ever see them at Pallet Yards for the most part. The fourth lever allows all four forks to extend out allowing you to carry 2 stacks side by side.
No, you're not a pro. The loading/unloading of different pallets and merchandise on different terrain without damage or injury, that what makes you a pro. Trust me, it will test the shit out of you. In logistic there are never two days that lool alike. Stay safe
The left pedal ,they call it inching pedal. You only use that pedal when you need to deposit or withdraw cargo. You are not suppose to use that pedal as brake. The button on the tilting lever is to level your fork straight flat when you take cargo. You need to press and hold the button the tilt forward and the fork automatically stop straight flat.

LPG is a blanket term for propane and butane. When the gas is used, the gas pressure in the can decreases so the temperature decreases. It has nothing to do with what type of gas it contains.
