    Elizabeth Gilbert and Oprah have become such inspirations to me! I am in the process of writing a novel, and I pray that one day I will have the honor of meeting them. I have quotes from both of them in my very first book, and yes, I DO BELIEVE IN MIRACLES! You have both provided me with the courage to complete my novel. Thank you both for being there for me during my process of overcoming "fear" and envisioning my book to be a Bestseller that, prayerfully, will impact and inspire on a global level. Blessings to both of you!

    Seeing 5 elephants in mid-town traffic and knowing how they lived in captivity would certainly have had me break down in tears . . . possibly the "sign from God" was CRY! THEN find TRUE beauty . . . riding an elephant isn't beautiful or spiritual . . . what is beautiful and spiritual is seeing elephants free in the wild . . . I hope the quest for all would not be so self-focused but more "what can I do to make the world a better place doing what I love?

      Elephants are my favorite animal, and I believe in respecting them and allowing them to be in their natural habitats. With that in mind, I understand your hurt and frustration at hearing her story. Maybe this might help. Liz didn't put those elephants there. She didn't sign the contracts or book their appearance. For some reason, the Universe called her to open her eyes to wonder, and in that moment, the elephant was that wonder. Like she said, they were going to be there regardless of her. Perhaps Liz doesn't know the facts you know. How many of us knew the reality of orca captivity before Black Fish, for instance? The point is, beauty can be found in the most crazy of places, and her wonder at that sight set her off on a journey that inspires many. For some, maybe her wonder inspired them to the wonders of things even Liz didn't experience--like elephants, for instance. And now, by following that bliss and wonder, they are on a path that could help end their suffering. Liz, like us all, cannot fix all the ills of the world, but maybe, at that exact moment in her life, with all that she knew and its limitations, that was what she could do, and by following her bliss, others are more open now to doing the same. By following bliss, people can have the courage to do what's important to them, even rehabilitating elephants and returning them to the wild. Whatever happened to Liz that day created a lot of good, and maybe, just maybe, those same elephants are now free because someone else was inspired to do some good. And if not, by Liz giving her speech, you were inspired to share that elephants should be free. So you see, we all work off of each other and inspire each other to be better. That is no small thing. Liz was not called to save elephants, and that's okay. We are called for different things. Maybe that's your calling. But what she is called to do does help quite a few, maybe not you, but it does help others. I hope you follow your calling and embody compassion. If you are truly open to the beauty of the world and feel so strongly, you just might be exactly what they need. Wishing you well.

    What she saw with elephants was bonafide animal abuse. Elephants walking through midtown Manhattan, cloaked, showgirls on top? I can’t believe she saw it as a sign of beauty and not for the cruelty that it was. By mid 2000’s everyone already knew that wild animals don’t belong in circuses, cities, and entertainment. How strange it is to think that the suffering of others is your sign to awakening to the beauty of the world.

    You know Oprah, I woke up one day and caught myself thinking, "At least I don't hit her." That stopped me short, I tell you Oprah. At least I don't hit her. Is that what it has come down to Oprah? Is that the proper measurement of a man's life? Is that the most I can say about myself? Is that most I can say about her? At least I don't hit her? I tell you Oprah, that was a sad, sad, day, Oprah. I knew I had to get out. So I did. At least I did not hit her.
    Cool first story, by the way.

    The circus? Seriously? These animals are stolen from their mother's breast and kept in cages and beaten from youth and... well, it's ANIMAL ABUSE! I would've been across the street picketing the frickin' circus. Those animals belong in sanctuary. Have you no EMPATHY FOR ANIMALS? Come on. I'd worry about exactly who that voice belongs to. That voice you're hearing. We are ALL worthy of love and protection.

      +Luna Tec I have to say, that part surprised me too...she seems like a very perceptive person, but perhaps her talent exceeds her consciousness. Many have a blind spot to the horrendous things that happen to animals for our entertainment (rides in India included) and consumption but I feel like things are slowly changing!

    • @lunatec6858
      @lunatec6858 Před 8 lety

      Me too. Ya know, come to think of it, Gilbert showed her huge disconnect in her book. Who eats bunny rabbits and then goes vegan in an ashram months later then goes and eats cows after that. She just doesn't get it. But she does a good job convincing others that she does so hey, I guess credit is due. SO many tricksters today. That's fine just leave the frickin' animals ALONE! :D Right? if you can't love 'em, just leave 'em alone. That's all.

    • @fritzidler3480
      @fritzidler3480 Před 8 lety

      +Luna Tec -Gandhi did not even protect his own wife. He let her die from pneumonia instead of allow a shot of penicillin, which would have saved her life. Because he thought western medicine was an obscenity. He was a virulent racist too. His biggest areas of expertise were bowl movements, and enemas.

    • @lunatec6858
      @lunatec6858 Před 8 lety

      He also slept with 3 teenage girls every night. He said he wanted to test his strength. He was an ordinary chauvinist who did extraordinary things for his people. But I do agree with him regarding Western medicine. It's evil. His wife died of a broken heart. She had a lot to get off her chest but she was too repressed by the chauvinism in her day, home, bed. Gandhi said his only regret was the way he treated his wife.

    Look, it all sounds nice but this new age crap can destroy your life. Go within and follow your on heart. I remember Elizabeth saying she didn't want to be a guru. I remember Elizabeth eating the carcasses of poor sweet tortured and murdered animals. Killing a brother or sister does not make you worthy of leading a spiritual following. She has blood on her hands. Entrails dangling from her lips. Can you not SEE that people?! Do not follow one who is still fumbling around in the dark. She knows it. She's still seeking approval. She is not a free and enlightened being.

    • @fritzidler3480
      @fritzidler3480 Před 8 lety +1

      +Luna Tec -I thought enlightened beings do not judge others. It seems you are still seeking ego approval. By the way, if the French agreed with you, and they all went vegan, that would be the end of gourmet cooking. Something the French are rightly proud of. The end of world class food? Bad idea.

    • @lunatec6858
      @lunatec6858 Před 8 lety +1

      You speak of an antiquated version of "world class" food. Do you know why the French sauce their carcasses? Because the old dead animal was already beginning to rot and no one would eat it if they could see and taste it. That's "world class" for ya. Roadkill covered in mucous. Yum. REAL "world class" food would reflect the fragility of life on Earth. Methane gas from raising animals for their carcasses is killing our environment. An enlightened palate would prefer life giving, life affirming foods that do not create destruction in its path. As far as "enlightened people don't judge". The brain judges. ALL brains judge. It's what brains do. Discernment is a good thing. To observe your environment, learn from past mistakes, yours and others, and to practice discernment is a good thing. A sign the lights are on. Never be afraid to voice your take on a matter. Your judging me has no effect on me for I can discern that you are confused. Following pseudo-celebrities is not the way out of confusion. Follow your own heart. I bet your heart would never harm an innocent animal so why pay someone else to do it?
