nimbus cloak doesn't proc on your ult anymore. It procs on summoner spells.

I choose to use waterwalking for roaming as support and rotating to mid it will also fulfill the movement speed boost with celerity for teamfights in river

Nice guide I mainly play thresh and Leona but want to start expanding my champion pool
I think Ardent is pretty good on him when you adc can snowball early on. I prefer to build it especially in situations where im more like a Protective Engager and not a full team fight leading bird.
Edit: Also one tip, if I ever have to play against Poke Supp, I skill Q and try to heal myself and specially bmy adc back up a bit. I think it's makes the landing phase much more comfortable.
I like ardent later but early I feel too squishy.

Nimbus cloak no longer procs off ults, and instead summoner spells, so i think nullifying orb or transcendence might be better on rakan for the survivability or cd.

waterwaling is good when u have a safe adc like vayne, lucian or ezreal since you can roam a lot.
i take NO in situations i know i won't be able to roam as much.
and personally i don't take demolish, i take font of life since it's good sustain early. just w - q - e back. ur teammate will be healed by ur q and font of life to.
maxing w doesn't give you as much cdr on that spell as maxing q would, and by maxing q you'll be able to heal a lot more mid to late game (plus your heal items), Not only does Q E W max order give you 2-3 sec cooldown heals but also some what good dmg.
it depends, if ur ahead i prefer w - e - q because i want to engage as much as i can, if i am even or losing i go q - e - w for sustaining.
most often i go for the second one because it is reliable and effective
@@Drako_RS 4 months later Im sitting here maxing w then q every game I play. When it comes to champions rakan truly is a champ that works around you instead of you working around him. I really forgot about this comment and now that I get to read it again I realise how dumb it sounds, the champ should be played however the person feels comfortable with. But I won't ignore the fact that you inspired me to diffrent maxing paths which I will try Jarno, so thanks!
How should I build Rakan with the new items? I usually start Shurelya's and then go Zeke's and Redemption but idk if thats good.

I personally prefer Font of Life over Demolish. Helps sustain the team during engages especially with Revitalize, plus it procs Ardent Censer. Also I go Transcendence and Gathering Storm if I want to go aggressive since all his abilities scale on AP. Transcendence gives so much extra AP because of the itemization on Rakan capping the CDR roof. This is why I go for Ionian boots, gives reduced summoners plus a good chunk of CDR. Only downside of this is the very snowball reliant playstyle you need to have, plus if your adc can't do their job during laning phase, you're basically useless.
i'm a rakan otp D2 atm and i recommend going precision, tenacity and pressence of mind on second runes cause its more effective then clearity and numbis clock since numbis clock give only ms on Spells not ult and its kinda useless since you can't R then F anymore
Not sure about presence of mind tho, i don't have mana problem once i bought the mana component of zeke, maybe domination could be good ? with the ult cdr or the out of combat ms + zombie ward maybe ?
How I play him I go guardian and inspiration secondary for that CDR to get my abilities up faster
a question, im at a loss between unflinching and revitilize, which one do I go for?

It used to be for ultimates but they changed it to work for summoner spells

I just started playing Rakan but considering his kit, hard engages and heavy cc, wouldnt font of life be better for him? 3 of his abilities cc the enemy in some way, so font of life + revitalize would give slightly better sustain to the adc early game
why do you think demolish is better for him?
i think you should only take demolish if you are sure that you can win lane. If you have a lane dominant matchup then demolish is really good for getting plates and an early first turret. If you have a matchup where you need to be more passive then dont take demolish

The q>e>w by pros is mostly becasue thats the pro scene.
This gives them:
1. Better team comp, which usually already have great engage, thus allowing Rakan to be great followup.
(where i think he is the best)
2. Due to communication, they can make better, more efficient plays.
Early in laning phase, pros dont need 2 w in a fight, cus enemy is usally dead after 1st.
I have played q>e>w and now as i changed to w, it gives a lot of freedom.
Also, celerity is a joke rune, its useless af.
Tanscendence + cdr boots + gathering storm makes are very good late game due to his highest scaling of all enchanters.
If u dont want late, get either precision tree with tenacity and triumph or domination with lethality on dash/eyeballs collection with ult cdr.
Also, KV ks THE joke in Rakan mains.
I think that even for solo queue, Q>E>W has more potential, it's just more punishing, since you can't use your W to get out after a bad engage. Would also like to add that I personally prefer Presence of Mind when going precision second, since I honestly find myself running out of mana at times in games where I actually need to build almost full tank. Also, I think Ghost Poro is a slightly better choice than Sudden Impact, but I guess that's personal preference^^

I'm Rakan main, and I think he's just as good as his player. I am Low elo and I have a 75% winrate on him so I would say yes, he is good in low elo
Usually yes but the current meta is bad for Rakan in all ranks
my personal rule is to never play him unless my adc picks xayah. paired with xayah he can go really aggresive and still return safely
Btw there is a bug with Guardian on rakan. If you use your E2 (E1 doesnt trigger this bug) on an ally that is out of E range and takes dmg Guardian will give him a shield, It works globaly so you can help your toplaner from bot.
I used it few days ago but it might be fixed in current patch.

why does nimbus cloak give mvmt speed after casting an ultimate? I thought summoner spells were just flash, ignite, etc.
They changed the rune. It used to be for ultimates but now it's for summoner spells.
What other ADC are best with Rakan except for Xayah?
Any scaling ADC that relies on peel
xerath and velkoz is pretty easy to lane against if you're a smart player, Morg on the other hand is impossible to beat even if you are a good player.
you just have to be smart and keep track of when morg uses her Q, never try to engage with grand entrance if morg hasn't used her Q or even if you're not sure if she has. also use your shields to get get out of her ult and out of the way of her Qs
@@amaranthine8531 put 2 equal skill for skill players morg always win even if morg is a worse player, you engage as rakan, she spell shields. This match up is even harder with the recent buffs she just got. Its very obvious when rakan wants to engage and most good morg players don't use q unless they have a straight line opening(Standing right in front of ad). I'm a D1/GM Rakan one trick and this is one matchup I struggle with the most. Even pros use morg as a counter to Rakan on stage. The only time i ever win against morg is if they are auto filled or my lane gets hard ganks.
@@towelgreg8916 yea, i struggle with that matchup so much i had to pick another support every time i see a morgana, if she's smart she'll just hold her q and shield to pressure you a lot
This matchup is so hard that I always ban morgana just to not get countered by her.

Only works on summoner spells, I'd only use this rune if you're running ignite due to the cooldown being pretty low. It could work with exhaust (the effect of slowing your enemy and being extra fast is devastating) but it has a slightly higher cooldown than ignite :)

Is there a build that isn't the same boring build every single support has?
I mean, my current fave build is actualy ap. You get your regular support item, then you rush your boots for mobility, ardent + ludens + lich bane in that order and then the last item what you fancy, if you play long enough. Depending on how tanky or not tanky you are, you can easily take a 1/3 of every enemy's health bar if you land a good W. If you know how to play the macro game and know where to position yourself, you can become an absolute monster with AP Rakan. It can be a hit or miss sometimes, but it's really fun because you can bully people once you get to mid and late game
The highest ranked Rakan OTP in the world goes for a build where he builds only enchanter items, but still gets a ton of ap because of runes and one of the passives on Athene's. He runs Sorcery tree first most of the time, with Aery (although he's been experimenting with Phase Rush), then Nimbus Cloak, Transcendence and Gathering Storm. Then for his secondary, he goes Ghost Poro and Ultimate Hunter. He also maxes Q>E>W.
For the actual item build, he rushes CDR boots and Athene's, then Redemption and Ardent. If you really need armor, you can also go for Ninja Tabi instead of CDR boots. As the last item, you could either get a Mikael's or a Locket.
Supports have a huge variety in builds. The only ones who struggle there is mid, who use the exact same items and build every game. Riot should focus there instead.

Nope. Guardian is the way to go now.
Well, i main rakan for 2 years but i think that build what ur showing isnt the Best (cose its old core build) in this meta is better First item ardent or shurelia (if u need mobility to get on enemy carry = shurelia, if u want some heals and dmg to fight = ardent) but i preffer this: buy spellthiefs edge - mobility - ardent - zekes - then u can chose shurelia or knights vow its Just what you Will build First i build knights vow then shurelia, redemption only if i ses my team dont have sustain.
About runes iam little dissappointed, demolish is good but what About font of life ? Get heal for cc enemy is better and u dont need to build redemption, if u play secondary sorcery or inspration is only what u preffer i preffer inspiration for cookie and cosmic insight.
