SonoFlash Acoustic Buoy: launch and deployment tests from the ATL2 - Thales

The launch and deployment tests of Thales’ SonoFlash sonobuoy from the #ATL2 maritime patrol aircraft were carried out successfully!
Responding to the evolving underwater environment 🌊, #Thales developed SonoFlash, a new-generation #sonobuoy that builds on decades of expertise in #sonars and acoustic sensors to offer an ambitious new solution to navies ⚓.
SonoFlash combines a powerful, optimised low-frequency transmitter with a high-directivity passive receiver. With the combination of these two capabilities, and the added advantage of long endurance, SonoFlash buoy is suitable for a wide array of deployment scenarios.
The French Navy will be the first operational user of SonoFlash, which will be deployed by the modernised Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft and NH90 Caiman tactical transport helicopters. It will be delivered to the French Navy from 2025.
