China is such a huge manufacturing country with small and large operations, that quality standards are all over the map.
There's a lot of really great high quality products and some really dismal junk and a whole bunch of stuff in between.
When an economy is geared towards manufacturing export it's very difficult to get the kind of quick market feedback that leads to quick quality control. That doesn't say it doesn't happen but it's just set before the QC data comes back 10 more companies can be doing exactly the same thing using the same outdated standards until QC data comes back from offshore sales.
