Little House on the Prairie is an American western drama television series, starring Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, and Karen Grassle, about a family living on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the 1870s and 1880s.
The show is an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling series of Little House books. Television producer and NBC executive Ed Friendly became aware of the story in the early 1970s. He asked Michael Landon to direct the pilot movie. Landon agreed on the condition that he could also play Charles Ingalls.
The regular series was preceded by the two-hour pilot movie, which first aired on March 30, 1974. The series premiered on the NBC network on September 11, 1974, and last aired on May 10, 1982. During the 1982?83 television season, with the departure of Landon and Grassle, the series was broadcast with the new title Little House: A New Beginning. In 1997, TV Guide ranked the two-part episode "I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away" at 97 on its 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time list.
"Little House on the Prairie" follows the lives of the simple, farming Ingalls family: Charles, Caroline, Mary, Laura, Carrie and then Grace and the later adopted Albert, James and Cassandra, who settle into a quaint little house on the banks of Plum Creek near the small town of Walnut Grove during the late 1800s.
Often narrated by Laura, the series follows her simple farm upbringing from her childhood until her adulthood with Almanzo Wilder with whom she starts a family of her own. While the series is based upon the Little House books (and thus the real life of author Laura Ingalls Wilder), it is a very loose adaptation, with mostly only key events and elements of fact surviving the transition from book to TV series. - Zábava
It literally brough tears in my eyes. I am from Pakistan. I used to watch it in my childhood. I was 8 years old in 1983. It was played on our national TV channel, the only TV channel in our country those days. Even me and my siblings couldn't understand a single English word that time but still we loved it. I don't know where the thought of that show came into my mind today and when I searched CZcams I found this clip. Beautiful memory of my childhood. Thank you CZcams and thanks to the uploader as well.
Might I suggest something that's far more accurate in its representation of the "good old days." czcams.com/video/Bz7VrgkgMMA/video.html
My pakistani brother!
show based on real people but the stories been changed to add more excitment for tv
Same here ..
I enjoyed the heaps of this show when I was like 4-5 years old when I couldn't understand english ...
Well, your comment brings tears to MY eyes, for whatever reason...Maybe because the same sort of feeling, across the world, happens to me when I see this stuff! I remember having only about 6 or 7 channels back then, in the US! But Little House was a big time favorite show, my best friend was really into the show, and I read all the books, too, as a child. They are worth it, if you have kids, or even GRAND kids, lol get those books! They are awesome, as well
The opening music is so touching, isn't it? Why don't more TV shows have themes like this?
That's a thing of the past. The reason is that theme songs take too long and it gives people a chance to click away and watch something else. On the other hand, going right into the programming keeps people watching. This is why, for example, Seinfeld, didn't have a theme song. They went straight into the show.
@@junodonatus4906 a shame but true, there were many themes I would go to the bathroom or get a snack before the show started!
Also, they're not interested in touching hearts anymore, but just indoctrinating the audience.
@@cacatr4495that’s literally not why but good try lol.. it’s all about ratings and money and keeping people interested in the show and not having as much time to go to another show since everything is streamed now. The only thing that aims to indoctrinate is religions
Those gorgeous first nine notes of music instantly take me back to my younger years!
Excuse me ik this is weird buy you wouldn't have to be jim Hayes from baybrooke would you?
verico my friend
Kathy Rowan I’m sorry. No. I’m from Colorado
So true Mr Hayes Those First Nine Notes are so Timeless.I'm Immediately taken back to my Younger years as well .I well up with so much Happiness. When I hear those Absolutely Gorgeous Nine Notes The Tears I shed are not sad tears but Happy Ones.
Jim Hayes, originally from an episode of Bonanza. David Rose was the music composer of both and Michael Landon who was a regular in Bonanza brought Dave aboard Little House and decided to use that theme which is from an episode of Bonanza. Here you go. czcams.com/video/TfblInpD18E/video.html
I'm still crying watching the theme. This is the shows that family bonds together. This is my childhood where no smartphones, playing traditional games like hide & seek. Life is simplier then. I'm from the Philippines.

True
Back when shows like this, mirrored the average (white, at least) American family. The morals were basically the same, and your parents could let you watch it because they knew the message of the show was similar to what you were being taught at home. How far we have come, to a degraded culture.
I love this show
tv wasnt to corrupt the youth as it is now
Little House on The Prairie was one of the ALL-TIME greats in classic TV, This is truly awesome!
Agreed
Waktu saya kecil tidsk pernah melewatkan nonton film ini sampai akhir,
I am so glad this show was filmed instead of taped. Film makes the show look so much better and gives it a cinimatic quality. I love the new blu-ray releases of this show. This is something to be treasured.
one of the greatest show of all time
Big zeke ooooohhhh yeaaaaahhh !!!!!!!

@Bruno56 Why?
ONE OF THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOWS OF ALL TIME
Brings back so many memories of growing up watching this in the 70s and 80s. Rewatching now during coronavirus quarantine. Very comforting!
On tv in the afternoon in our country in the 70s, me friend and I hurried home from school the 12 kilometers on our bycicles to be in time to watch! Lovely memories!
I'm in Vietnam, I watched this movie when I was a kid, now I'm 35 years old and still watch it again, really this is a classic movie.
Time passes but memory prevails😭😭😭

One of my sweet childhood memories and probably the reason why I always love countryside.
I can side with that. This show plus "Grizzly Adams" growing up in an urban neighborhood made me yearn for nature and the countryside.
This theme moves me deeply, I was a child in the 70s and I watched this entire series on television.
1:20 This is the most beautiful scene I've ever seen in a series💞I discovered this series recently, I was born in 2003 and had never heard of it, just from my grandparents. I'm starting to watch the episodes and she's turning it is one of my favorite series! It's wonderful🤩🥰!! A big hug from Brazil 🌹✨
I watched it every week as a child . That theme music is written deep in my heart. There is also associated books. It's biographical. I loved the book, Little House in the Woods ( set before they moved close to town)
Watching this makes me shudder,,,and wanna cry at the same time ...😢 Remembering my childhood at 80' ( when this series first released i wasn't born yet, i watched again about a decade later ) Remember when I watched this TV series with both of my parents when they were still alive 😥😥
sorry for your loss, hoping you are staying strong
My most favorite TV show for four decades Little House on the Prairie. I still love the music at the beginning & end of every episode. Best series ever. Wish they keep it on TV for ever.
Me too😀😀😀
"Ma! Pa's back! Pa's back!"
Laura in nearly every episode of Season 1😂😂😂
I stood at Michael Landon's crypt and thanked him for the years of wonderful memories.
That’s nice. His soul would LOVE your prayers. Eternal rest grant unto him Oh Lord may perpetual Light shine on him, may he Rest In Peace. Amen✝️🙏
I'm from Malaysia and I grew up with Little House on the Prairie in the 1970's and 80's. Yes they showed this beautiful family programme here too in this part of the world. We had and still have many American programmes even more so with satellite tv. Little House was the in thing those days with the family sitting round the tv set, watching it. Good morals, good values. Very feel good family story I bought all of Laura Ingalls Wider's books when I was 10 years old and gave them away later for someone else's enjoyment. It's so refeshing and nostalgic to see this especially during this pandemic. How I wish the good, old days were here...
This show has always been one of my very favorites. I watched it each week and now I watch it on the internet. This show calms me and brings me a peace which is no longer as attainable as easily at it once was. I 'm addicted to this and the Waltons. I also watch Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver. whenever the World gets you down try sitting calming and losing yourself in one of these wonderful shows. Best shows ever.
Just hearing the musical introduction immediately brings me back to my childhood years and my beautiful memories with dear ones I lost who used to share the same session with me in front of the TV every Saturday night.
My favorite childhood TVshow every day after school rush to go home and watch
Days when your responsibilities ended at homework and some chores.... wow did I take that for granted.
Great show. It gave us all a glimpse of what life was like 100 years earlier. An era long gone. 99% of the people living in today's world would not make it in that time.
I would I'm totally retro
I was toddler when this series airing on my country back in 1983-1986. Didn't know much about this series, but the older guys always mention this series if talking about good old tv show. Now I watch this series on 2019 on cable TV, I understand why so many people love this series. Humble living in pairie, heartwarming moments and many inspirations for daily life and family. Timeless :)
In 1974 I was 7 yrs old boy and watched and loved this series on TV. I’m 56 now and wept tears of joy through hearing the theme tune again. Happy memories.
You’re cute!
In France, this series is still very popular. It is still broadcast on different channels. I thank Michael Landon (RIP) for this very beautiful series which represents beautiful values: love, friendship, work, life's misfortunes.
Personally, I am quite moved every time I hear the music. It represents nostalgia. It represents me, a teenager, coming back from college to eat lunch at my place. My mom was watching the show and from the start I loved it.
Whoever says that this series is boring and silly did not understand anything. This series represents life, the real one.
Keep coming back to this video..
it brings back sweet memories as a young child watching this favorite show with my family at night..i miss the ingalls family & the prairie.
I want to visit this place some day
So I lost my mom last week. I was around 6 when we all watched together as a family. Mom used to call it "Little Cry On The Prairie"..she would always cry at the end of each show thanks to that damned Michael Landon. 😥😁 Miss ya mom, and all your happy tears.
This is the best and wonderful show forever.
When Mary went blind which I saw in reruns when I was little, I just couldn't. It broke my heart! I can't explain it but it was so sad.
I think we all felt that way.
It's so cute! Melissa Gilbert was always running!
The little house on the prairie is the best serie I have ever seen on television.a story and episodes full of faith, love, hope, friendship and high moral values and standards.
Watching the little house often has moved me to tears and the stories have touched my heart in a very profound way.
Thanks to all the members of the cast of the little house on the prairie.
You gave made this world more loving and brigther!
From a dear fan from the Netherlands, Kees.
What a wholesome show
As someone who's young and enjoys a good South Park episode or maybe even some Family Guy, you can't beat a classic. No foulness, sex, or violence just simple things.
Pure and wholesome, how life should be.
NO, KEEP LIFE PURE FOR ANIMALS, WE NEED TO MASTER DARKNESS AT AN EARLY AGE HOWEVER TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM EVIL 👀🌙🤘👍
I'd rather have life be like this. czcams.com/video/Bz7VrgkgMMA/video.html
This show was on TV in Korea from '76 to '83. It was one the greatest shows ever. A true classic from my childhood days. I'm getting dewy eyes watching this video after so many years. Thank you for uploading this.

and suddenly I'm falling in love with this series until now..
what the lovely family..
love this tv series...
I just finished reading those books. Got to know about this TV show. I'll definitely watch it. A 25 years old Bangladeshi guy who really touched by 1800's a American family's struggle and surviving. Really tired of this Quarantine, 2020 just sucks. What an amazing life it was back then ❤️
A series that shows America's healthy mind, a drama that is loved by people all over the world
Im 16 and watched this in my tv a few minutes ago,its really a great show i think the episode is called the Lord is my shepherd.i wished i lived in America at that time where life is simple and full of peace.
I watched this on TV every Sunday mid day when I was a school boy. About 80's in my country Indonesia
Film Cerita Minggu Siang
Film favorit saya tiada duanya. Menonton film saya jadi hanyut seolah terbawa dalam alur cerita. Ingin rasanya lihat lokasi film.
I watched an episode of this on Roku TV the other day. There's a Little House on the Prairie channel. The first time I've seen it in 25 years. You can really go down a LHOTP rabbit hole on CZcams watching the Megan Kelly interviews of some of the stars, the reunion videos, Several of the stars wrote books, their careers, etc. In other words I just spent 3 or 4 hours watching Little House on the Prairie related videos.
Oh, I miss those happy days so much. No technology or smart phone. Families used to spend all the time together.
Times throughout history are never completely simple or wholesome, but there is still some good nomatter what time period you are from.
Yes. Over time, the idea of relaxation and entertaining a family in their own home was properly realised with television. A big screen. But I don't think sweet memories of family shows and the family gathered round the TV will go on in the internet age. The technology has become an end in itself. And it's ridiculous really now. All that technology gives is now is a feast of frivolities and trivialities. Postcards, letters and stamps now seem as if God had intended those objects. But I'm not so sure about the modern technology of small screens today.
Watched this drama when I was 13. Sweet memory..
Boy THIS really got to me today...
I used to go eat at my aunt's apt and this was one of her favorite shows...
I was going through a horrible few years when it came on the air but..so it was so nice to just see something holsum...
When the end music started playing I got anxious..I would be going home soon...WOW..what a rush of memory😭❤️
DUDE, THE MEMORIES. Our parents grew up with Little House on the Prairie, and seven or so years ago they bought the entire collection for us, but DUDE. We used to watch an episode a night, so for the good part of several months all we watched was Little House on the Prairie. I literally can't right now, I feel like crying.
Oh my.... after 36 years l am watching this... I was just 3 or 4 years old when this was telecasted on "rupavahini" the first sri lankan channel in the early 80's... I remember me sitting on my mom's lap and dadda by my side watching this drama... now my dadda is 80 and mom 68.. brings me my childhood memories...couldnt stop cryjng....thank you for uploading this...
I loved the theme music, and was addicted to the show for the first year or two, when I was 10 and 11. But this particular episode had a jump-scare killing near the end, which I was too young for.
The greatest TV drama of my childhood I still remember. In my village there was only one hotel where I used to see this drama the whole characters of that series had done a great job specially Melissa. Memories never dies. Love you all specially M. Gilbert.

The good old days...remind me our old black & white tv
This is so nostalgic. I used to watch this when I got home from school at my grandparents' house. This was 12 years ago. At moment of writing this comment, my grandpa passed away a few years ago and my grandma is very demented...
It's both nostalgic and painful to watch this fragment. It really takes me back to those good old times :'(
It is. ‘🥺
1994 I was a 6 year old boy sitting next to Mom to watch this TV show. I am 31 years old now, a father, and still following the way that the father in the TV show did for his family and friends. Thanks Mr.Landon for being a part of my Childhood
for Allah's sake, i am never happy if my husband and i were not the kids of the 70's! nothing can replace that sweetness. from Malaysia with love!

BRINGS BACK ...MY CHILDHOOD....MEMORIES, OF MOM AND FAMILLY
Miss with the movie ..and now at Hits Channel...❤❤
I've surely wouldn't mind in living at the fields of the little house in the prairie. especially in meeting the family living there.
Childhood memories! My twin sis and I used to watch this.
I’m not crying. Nope. There’s just dust in my eye.
We're missing the programming like this today. What better way to end the episode with a playful young girl with her dog, and not a care in the world.
When this series made 1974-1983, i was not yet born. Greeting from indonesia
saya jg baru nonton 2018 kmarin
mulai suka jg 2018 kmarin
kayanya pantas utk dijadikan versi layar lebar box office Hollywood

Michael Landon, must have been some kind of Angel, must! To create so much good feeling, so there must be some Godly Sent To this serie
I so missed that era
