How to Change a Gasket on a Big Green Egg Without Removing The Lid

- When it comes to maintenance, making sure the gasket on your Big Green Egg is intact is important. If you don't have a clean seal you can run the risk of inconsistent temperature swings or less efficient air flow.

Be sure the Egg is cool before you start this process. We recommend letting the adhesive gasket sit for 24 hours before using to let the adhesive set.
Tools needed:
- Putty knife or similar scraper
- New gasket
- Razor blade
- Cotton ball
- Rubbing alcohol

I noticed no time was spent on how to place the new gasket (and clean) on the lid around the back hinges, which looks difficult to do at best.
It's really no more different or more difficult than the bottom one. It was more of an editing decision to not film that part since it was repetitive. The key is to just not start and end at the same place as the bottom one.
Replacing the upper portion around the hinges is more difficult, as the working space is much tighter and it’s harder to see what you’re doing. If it’s the same as the bottom and simply an editing decision, show the top gasket replacement then.
