Boy, did I think I could understand French before this video!
Someone just bought me a book of short 'easy' stories for beginners in French and this one is the first story in it. My initial happiness was soon deflated. My hopes dashed. I needed the dictionary for every single word! Same thing when everyone recommends Le Petit Prince as a first book. PFT beginners/ easy. My backside!
@@Marie.b I agree it's not beginners at all
Agreed it's very much not beginners
Lmfaooooo right !!!!
Me too. I am better dualingo intermediate French 🥲
One day soon, I’ll be able to understand all of this.
Dont give upヽ( 'ω' )ノ
what's the progress now freddie?
Sure we will. That´s the attitude, gotta have some nuts and discipline to enjoy the process of ever learning. Greetings from México!
How's that going?
Yes! 👏🏾
Story a day keep your language confidence away xD
???? why would you want to keep your language confidence away?😂
Lmao =))
LMAOOOOO xD
That's true. I share stories in French and English translations in my channel. If you interested you can check it out. It will really help you
It takes time. Don’t study make the input Comprehensible
"Easy French Stories" still can't understand most of it by listening.
Try not to dwell on it. It's french. Even the french probably don't understand it.
Hi Jeong-hun Sin, There are a few components to how to talk French quickly . A resource I discovered that successfully combines these is the Magic Language Method (look for it on google) definately the most useful remedy that I've heard of. Check out all the amazing info .
There are a few components to teaching yourself to talk French . One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Magic language method (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most incredible treatment that I have ever found. Look at all the amazing information .
How long have you been studying French?
Jeong-hun Sin, I agree. It’s good if they can do English subtitles as well.
I don't know enough as of yet to even get the gist of what's going on. Having said that however, I still know a lot more than I thought. Real confidence booster.
I had the same thing 😁
Good luck on your learning! Keep up the positive outlook!

Most teachers don't understand the process of language acquisition. Beginners need to understand, not every word, but need to feel that they can understand most of the time what's going on, what's the story is about. If little children don't get the message, their parents will simply say it again in a simple manner. There's interaction so parents get feedback and clues about their children's level of comprehension. With that information they can try better to communicate and adjust the pace and the level of the language so their child gets to understand the meaning of the words and sentences. Parents naturally do what is necessary to facilitate comprehension. By reading comments here I have confirmation that this video is not well adjusted for beginners. Too difficult.
The story is for beginner readers. Big difference. A levels can't do stories yet. Just extremely simple short paragraphs throw them off. A0s know zero words. A1s know about 500. A2s know about 1,000. B1s know about 2,000 give or take. B2s know about 4,000. C1s know at least 8,000. C2s know around 16,000 or the equivalent of the same amount of words as a native college-educated speaker. These are very rough approximations. Now, let's count how many different words are in this story. I would say this story requires knowledge of a minimum of , say, 5, 000 words, closer to 10,000. So we can conclude this story is meant for already bilingual students who are in between B2 and C1, almost a B3, if there were such a category. Have fun learning French. :)
@@ndjubilant8391 that sounds about right. I think I'm a "b3."
You can pause and translate on google translator. I’m at intermediate French so just translated a few words.
I'm learning French by several methods right now & this looked interesting. Having stories read to you as you read them is very good. It gives the rhythm & the correct pronunciation. This story is definitely not for beginners though.
It does show that French people do speak quickly. I recommend people trying to learn French, listen to French music also. Old classics like, "Que reste-t’il de nos amours", or more modern ones like, "Ou va le Monde". You can slow them down.
‘easy’
This is just slightly above my level so its very helpful! Thanks!
the story starts simple and slow but gets faster and more complex at end
Merci beaucoup! Ces histoires sont parfaites pour mon niveau de français, pas trop faciles, pas trop dificiles :)
hUH 😀
« Le ciel est bleu douhors »
Comment les anglais ils peuvent comprendre l’histoire?😭😂
;_;
@@ray-kuzuryuu8200 haha now I get you. Blue sky , english people can't understand. Haha doomed.from the start! That's what threw me. I live in Ireland where the sky is even less blue.
@@Marie.b oh no it was not a joke lmao
The woman said « douhors » instead of « dehors »! (that’s mean « outside » in case you don’t know^^) If she makes mistakes, it’s hard to understand that’s what I mean!
Le français est la plus belle langue - merci!
"French is the most beautiful language. Thank you"?
@@kimosmith4600 yes thats what it means
Knowing latin languages makes understanding this easier even tho I'm a new learner
Ahaha j'étais curieux de savoir comment les étrangers apprennent le français, et je suis tombé sur cette vidéo. Pour les anglais qui apprennent l'anglais et lisent ce commentaire : tenez bon ! J'suis sûr que vous arriverez à assimiler cette langue !!!
i'm proud of myself understanding parts of the story❤❤❤
Je suis mexicaine et je suis en train d’apprendre le français, j’aime la langue.
I’m actually surprised that I understood like 80% of the story while she was narrating it and even tho she is in fact speaking really fast, I truly believe that we all (language learners) need to move on pretty quickly from the slow speaking videos cause there’s this risk of getting used to that and then being discouraged when noticing everybody else speaks extremely fast in comparison.
Merci beaucoup pour la historie, c’est très utile
How I’m just starting to to learn
How have you been studying?
I understood most of it but it was not easy. I had to read along or else I would have been lost. Great story.
How did you learn? Are you fluent now?
I'm not even learning French, yet I listened to this video. I don't know what they were saying, but when I heard the happy birthday theme in that woman's voice, I knew it was birthday related.
Thank you! This is going to be excellent practice. I have a LONG way to go before I understand. Just the practice I need!!!
Bon jour Stephanie, enchante :) Pouvons-nous practique francais en-ligne?
I was just listening to this so I could get some French in my head
Une jolie histoire, bien racontée 💕
Merci :)
Bonjour. Je découvre votre chaîne par hasard. Bien que je sois français, j’apprécie que les étrangers veuille bien parler notre langue. En plus, je suis une personne non-voyante est malentendantes donc très sensible à la beauté, des voix et à leur musicalité et de ce point de vue, Madame, vous êtes génial. Vous arrivez à faire les voix d’homme, et en plus, vous chantez bien ce qui est merveilleux. Merci beaucoup pour cette agréable moment.
Merci Beaucoup!
This is so great, thanks for uploading
Très douce! Merci!
Merci beaucoup pour ces histoires. Sont très intéressantes et très bien pour pratiquer la langue française. Je pense que je suis un débutant (niveau A2 🤔), alors, vous décrivez la histoire rapidement mais très claire.
A bientôt
Juan.
You‘re niveau B1 at least! You‘re very good

I love how the built in translator translates your name, too 😂
Juan, vous êtes au moins un B1 en compréhension. Bravo
This is great! Thanks.
Je l'adore!
There is no way this is for beginners. I've been taking French for six years and there were a ton of words I still didn't understand or had never seen before. I think you need to make it a bit easier as to not discourage people from learning the language.
Hi, I am French and I agree she speaks very fast. Might be hard to understand when you're a non French speaker
It is wonderful keep going
Merci bien!!!😊
Merci beaucoup :)
J'ai tout compris sauf quelques mots.
merci beaucoup! je trouve le story intéressant et engagèr!
Trés bein! J'aime ce!
Bien not bein
Her voice is fantastic and she speaks very fast and that's very good (my opinion)
Very soon I'll understand and speak French.
The story is easy. It is not abstract. It is for beginner READERS of French, not for absolute A0 beginners nor for A1 or A2. The A levels are for aquiring basic vocabulary in order to move to intermediate B levels. These words are commonly used. Think of it as exercise to stretch towards B2 and C1. I am C1 and understand everything without looking at the pages. I recognize by ear every word and not one word's meaning is new to me. For B1s and B2s: without stretching and some difficulty there is no improvement. Just listen and read along. Think in terms of chunking a language and comprehensible input. Do you have a basic grasp of about 70% of the story? Then it's the right level for you. If you understood it right away then you , like me, need a more challenging goal. The goal here is more to match sounds to letters and improve pronunciation. Instead of looking up every single word allow the larger context of each paragraph to help you guess. This is the way you can start to think in French. Expect there to be lots of new words and parts of sentences. Repeat the same story every day for as long as possible until mastered. This may take 3-4 weeks. Or longer. Be patient with yourself. I recommend listening when deeply relaxed, fed and well rested and approaching it like a sport. Think of each story as a puzzle to be mastered. Enjoy spending time in French rather than "studying" it start living it. Bon courage!
For those who think this is too hard:
This is a video and not a person talking to you
That means you can pause, hear again and pause, look up words, hear again... In the end you will understand it all...
Thats what I do
I get the story but not whole of it! I was overconfidence that I'll get through this with an ease, well I get it, but my brain needs quite of pause to finally get the idea. But it just doesn't feel clicked in my brain and I just can't locate the word...
easy to understand
I love this! Please make more videos like this, s’il vous plait!!
Bonjour! That was perfect, just about my level! But this is just one story. Are there more like this? I see an Audiobook to buy, but I'd prefer free, and with the transcript here, like this story. Am I out of luck?

Great study tool, thanks! :)
Oui, merci!
J'ai utilisé cette vidéo pour mon cours de français, c'est un peu difficile pour mon niveau, mais ça donne me une challenge

I think by beginner they don’t mean your first year in French because I’m in level 3 and this is the sort of stuff we’re learning
pleasee im in level 10 still cant understand anything ;-; ig im just byelangual
What is "level 3"?

Merci fantastique!!!👍👍
Wow... this was surprisingly easy... only 1 or 2 words I didn't understand... what would be a good step to take in order to improve from here on?
i dont understand french but you can increase the speed.
like economic news in double speed
Me learning English and French at the same time 👁👄👁 (I understand both of them but I can't express myself)

i understood zero words... this language is faster than spanish
I pretty much didn't understand a single thing from this 'Story for Begginers'
Yeah but thats your own fault, not the videos. I know little french and could understand it all...
C’est sympa mais je trouve la lecture un peu rapide pour des débutants
Please can u make more videos
4:30 Why does it sound like she' saying (phonetically) "du jolon". Is there some kind of interaction between the "du" and "v"?
@cornnflaek I noticed that too. Strange.

Hi
Started learning french about a week ago, helpya boi out, any tips?
Never give up.
@@typingcat thanks for the remonder man, you will be pissed to know that i already gave up and forgot about it. BUt just cuz u reminded me, am getting back on it💪
Tu as continué ? :)
@@_relys_ no😭....i joined law school in October. And now between classes, projects and gym i have no energy left to practice. Its frustrating! i wanna get back to learning it
C'est très bien mais beaucoup trop vite pour mes étudiants qui sont "beginners"
Me changing the speed of the video to 0.75... XD
How far along duolingo do i have to go for this video? lmao i am already around about the first checkpoint so about 11 lessons or something.
pretty far along, i found the duolingo only really showed you the basics and isnt able to get you to this level of french which is the beginner level. some ways to improve and develop in french to this level is if you were to be taught, have tutors or enrol in online or irl classes because the 1-1 learning is a lot more helpful than duolingo is
but we need translation too
Can some1 add english subtitle for the same
How am I supposed to translate this?
But first day of school is premier jour d’cole so is la rentrée des classes is just another way of saying it
rentrée = return so they are referring to going back to school because it’s his first day :)
thats definatly not easy":)
Difficle ;-;
Merci j'adore pour ma petite fille
le débit est rapide je trouve, pour les débutants
Surtout les mots " englouti " ? C'est certes un mot basique pour un français mais pas essentielle. Il vaut mieux mettre des mots courants ( ex : manger ) et des phrases courtes. Les phrases sont trop longues d'après moi.
....this isn't what I meant by beginner 😅
how's that beginner?

That was one quick wedding!
