Semi Trucks & Trailers on Slot Car Track

Big Rig 18 Wheelers Semi Trucks & Trailers (Auto World) on Slot Car Track running on Model Railroad Layout. Having fun fooling around with the Slot Trucks & Amtrak passenger train and Gopro camera; These semi-trucks have trailers too. The guide pins on the trailers were removed so they slip and slide and jackknife sometimes, but that can be fun too. With guide pins they don't swing around. These video clips are not continuous or even in order, but are just various shots during this racing session.

2021 Update: This layout was started in 1995 so it was 25 years old in 2020. So the layout has been a lot of fun especially in this pandemic times. Everything is working good. I have not bought anything since 2014. I plan to keep layout as is and the older diesel engines and roadnames. Even the original oldest slot cars still work, though the bodies are getting ragged because the slot cars have had a lot of rough running. The slot cars and trucks have taken out the RR crossing lights and split the gates at two street crossings, also snapped the power poles. So new crossing signals are needed. Also have a rail and slot track road crossing, but cannot/have not installed it in present setup --- and probably a good thing. The Slot car track was added around the perimeter of the train layout platform, so that a 3" shelf was added to the edge of the layout fascia. It was fun to have this during the Pandemic times when you can't do much, so yes, this layout is getting used a lot more during 2020-21 and started making videos again.

What motors did you use, I've done a few Truck conversions but found the Mabuchi Scalextric motors don't cut it with the partially diecast models and draw loads of amps when they stall which is a shame as I have some sound modules that I got working off the Scalextric digital lane change button, but daren't use them digitally as the chips will just blow when the motors stall. Even got the airhorn recordings done on the sound cards from 'Duel'. The brass space frames fine on their own work, as do the plastic models, just the diecast truck bodies are too heavy. Thanks for putting this up, good heads up about the tail guides as well, I've got a couple of 10 wheeler 6x4 rigs running 4x4 or 2x4 at the rear and they spin off without a trailer, art imitating life lol, so I'II be soldering guide bushes on them now. Great job that. My mistake, but testament to your layout though, I didn't realise you were running HO scale. I'm running 1:32

That is the greatest setup!! Wow I am in awe of your creative talents !! I subscribed awhile back , just recently saw the photo had to check it out ! Are the slots 1:64 scale? They seem huge maybe it’s just the camera angle . Keep up the vids I’m a fan!!!

Thank you very much! The slot cars are 1:64 even though they are called HO, because the gauge is same as HO. I think the trucks may be a little closer to HO scale than the cars.
