i have! its a great headset! i used to have a G2 and was a great headset for the price! but the Crystal has the best visuals ive ever seen in any vr headset Ive ever used. (ive used lot of headsets in the past) The Crystal is just on another level of vr. if you have the hardware and the money for it i would say go grab one! This will be my next VR headset, no doubt, actually I owned the HP Reverb G2, I think this will be the best upgrade for my new Intel i9 13900 & TX 4090 system. Thanks for the overview.

Great video, m8! This was an easy sub for me, as I will get my Crystal tomorrow. Will be using it in MSFS. I7-13700k and RTX 4090 SHOULD be enough to get a very good result I think. Or maybe change the CPU to an x3d . Can't wait to check this out after 3 years using the H2 Reverb. The G2 is still a great headset though. Greetings from Norway ♥♥♥

This is not an honest review as there was no mention of the small sweet spot. Half the reviewers on CZcams don't mention it, but the honest ones do.
@@dtz1000 Not dishonest, just the fact that everyone will notice these things a bit differently imho. Plus, many reviewers and users always find something to complain about, lol!
@@tomc1380 I tested it out for myself. The Sweet spot is small. I don't know how anyone can miss how tiny it is. It's odd how the sweet spot wasn't even mentioned in this review.
@@dtz1000 That’s fine mate, your opinion, maybe others as well. Probably depends a lot on what headsets you are comparing this to. I doubt that many Reverb G2 users would be complaining about this, lol! Just because a reviewer doesn’t address your concerns doesn’t make them dishonest liars imho.
Very informative overview mate, and I love your attention to some of the smaller details that often get overlooked. At $1500 it sits between the Q2 ($400) and the Varjo Aero ($1999), both in price and PC specs to run it. If only there was a place we could go and test them side by side!

You can go and test this headset for free now in many countries. I tested it in London and was a bit disappointed to be honest.
They had both headsets at the FXExpo in Houston last month. I was also most excited to try the Pimax but also came away disappointed. The demo didn’t live up to the hype. The Varjo on the other hand was amazing. So clear and so so much more comfortable. Of course I only had about 10 minutes on each so far from a legitimate review that others are doing. Just my experience. Still following development of both to see where they go. The Varjo at $1200 would be a game changer. Of course so would the Pimax at $999.
@@gillett4you I have both. The Crystal is better. The only advantage I give the Aero is build quality. I find the crystal more comfy with the 15mm face gasket. Visually, the crystal is unmatched. The fov, colors, brightness, sharpness, binocular overlap and smoothness all are better on the crystal. Also the sound and mic are better on the crystal, along with not needing base stations.

Excellent video and really looking forward to more videos about the GPU/CPU requirements.
Im running an i7-10700K (getting old already!), 4080 gpu, 32gb ram off nvme drives and my biggest concern is that i will need to scale my resolution and other settings down in order to get the sharpness, and big increase in visual clarity I am expecting from this set!
I am currently using the Reverb G2. Great in the cockpit! But nor so hot when it comes to visually locating runways and seeing them clear enough at any distance is a big drawback!
That is, if it ever clears fedex customs.

It's got a small sweet spot but there's no mention of that here. If you want an honest review then the one by Bradley Lynch is the most honest one I've seen. I know this because I tested it recently for myself.

What I’m saying is everyone may have a different take on everything, it may seem incorrect to you personally and that’s expected, but to say someone is dishonest or more honest I think is not the correct term. For example I’m very thorough with my reviews and tell my version, my thoughts based on my experiences and people thank me for being honest. Point is maybe everyone IS being honest it’s just a difference of opinion and experiences

Great review Eric. However good it is, I wouldn’t get a Pimax because I’m all about a smaller form factor. My PC also couldn’t handle this either!

Hello i want to buy a ve headset mainly to play pcvr games. Any recomentions? Or should i wait for quest 3 release and get it? Help plz
I would say it depends on what type of gaming you're looking for. If you are mainly looking for seated or less moving games or Simulators I would absolutely recommend the Chrystal. If you want more moving games or games where you will move your head and body more I would go for the Quest 3. If it's just pcvr go for the Pimax

Luke ross VR modded games (Cyberpunk , Zero Horizon Dawn ect) is working with Pimax Crystal? Can you use open xr layer or just steam VR?
And can you play with 4090 with affordable fps?
Furthermore can you play also praydog Resident Evil VR mod and the crystal controllers are working ?
Because my G2 working very well with these modded games in open xr mode and i can achive affordable fps with my rtx 4080 and it will be very
important question because i would like to upgrade my G2 if these are workign with also Pimax Crystal.

Definitely can be run with a 4090. You can run in open XR and it will work great with all mods.
how is the quality when watching a movie in 4k or watching 4k 3d movies compared to a oled tv?

I ordered mine ..so it only needs their software and steam vr ??
that's it, download their software. power on the headset and then click the steam vr button. There is some settings that you may want to adjust to help run things smoother

Looks Good.....Shame is has the worst customer service of any VR headset on the market. So buying a headset over £1500 and the thought of issues where the Support dont help dont fill me with confidence at all. This should be brought up in videos on social media. Yes the headset might be good,but every buyer is taking a gamble due to the Poor Support.
Good video though....Think ill also wait until i see what the Steam Deckard will have.
Only thing killing it on my personal end is . Entirely too big , controllers make me nervous it took so long to get working and still don’t trust understand how important controllers are .
Wired is a non starter so even if I went for it wouldn’t be until AFTER they perfect stand alone and show me they know what the hell they are doing .
FOV is not as important to me because I don’t have issue in quest fov, like none .
This headset makes ZERO sense for me , it only makes sense for a simmer for me and pretty sure I’m not alone on that score .
As long as just wired it will never sell enough to get off ground imo . Still feel sorry for pcvr headset makers thinking it is time to start pushing out the big guns …. Unfortunately not yet , all they gonna get is people already in VR and mostly simmers … they is NOT enough to sell and be profitable .

The old pimax headsets were big but not super heavy. I think they weighed the same as an index and the weight wasn't uncomfortable.
@@zr1129 for me the weight and size a factor . In my way , I play entirely to reckless to mess with anything this bulky or wired .
It just not for me is all . No headset is for everyone , silly to think otherwise .

@@kangjames2492 you truly do not understand how I play bud lol . I’m mentioning this because it is literally made for the opposite of me that likes to sit , be tethered , not move .
I have 11x 11 playspace with 2 feet outside for arm swing . Me and my kids have been playing as reckless and with as much movement as possible . Turning . Crouching , dive roll ALL physically the ONLY thing I use analog for is to move to next area and when combat happens I just move freely if I see guardian I pop back in middle quick and back at it .

@wolveraza9896 I get it. But if you ever get into more personalized game, it is definitely the headset to have. And I wouldn't rule it out until you try it.. Especially once it goes standalone, and they bring the ygig module.
Without FER you are not going to be able to run this on lower gpu’s unless you lower settings or the rendering resolution
Pitool?... Really? The date on that software is from March 22, 2021. Are you sure that we should use Pitool and not Pimax Play? Does Pitool support eye tracking for the Crystal? I know that Pimax Play - 1.13.02 (current version) does not have eye tracking!
its actually called, pimax client now but it's the same software as the original PiTool, i used the term so anyone who used Pitool would know thats its vastly better than it used to be.

Strange you say this. They feel exactly like the Quest 2 controllers when there is no battery in them. Which makes sense because these controllers take no batteries, you charge them by usbc cable. Other than that they feel exactly the same
I felt this way when I demoed it a CES, but as I've been using it and the tracking is good I actually like them and think they feel light, but not cheap.

The fact it needs chargable battery to use wired PCVR is a waist of $1700.

@@soundscaperecordings1111 No the battery is for the Wireless Standalone VR Mode on it no one is gonna use it for.
this headset needs graphics cards of the future to run smooth like current vr's due to its extreme resolution and in the future your'e gonna get much better vr's at much lower prices, so i would say its a "future proof" product which means you put a lot of money and kinda bottlenecked of current hardware anyway
and in the future it wont worth its price anyway. conclusions = loosing money
man their alian like design is so wide ugly imo
