  • NSWRL 1993 Preliminary Final: Brisbane Broncos v Canterbury Bulldogs.
Alan Cann, second-rower for Brisbane, seals a spot for the Broncos in the Grand Final with this barnstorming run. Ray 'Rabbits' Warren yet again gives us a classic piece of commentary that still gets quoted to this day - "Somebody stop him! He'll run out of the stadium!"
Final Score: Brisbane Broncos 23 def. Canterbury Bulldogs 16.

A powerhouse just like Brett Plowman the former Bronco/crusher

I remember a game against the Steelers in which we were getting thumped. From recollection the plowman tore them to pieces in the second half… right wing I think.

Was this the season when Renouf got his jaw broken at a party? Cann got two in the GF the previous year... an underrated forward.

Correct, Renouf had his jaw broken thanks to a wild punch in his hometown of Murgon during season '93. I'd forgotten about Cann's double in the 1992 Grand Final, great memory Shane.

AussieOriginal I’ve been watching a lot of league vids, it’s amazing how you can remember where you were when you see these things. I was at a mates house in morningside for this game, not feeling particularly confident. I was a real league fanatic back in the early 90s. Great memories,

Because Bob Fulton was coach and unless you were huge in the forward pack you had no chance. Trevor Gillmeister, one of the best defensive forwards ever, was constantly overlooked.
