Why is everyone thanking only Avicii. This was a collaboration between Aloe Blacc and Avicii. We should both thank both artists for collabing this song. This is an acoustic version of Aloe Blacc even though they both worked on this. I think 2 years back I saw it had 4 million views? in contrast, Avicii had 1.5 billion....and in both songs, Aloee Blacc had his voice then why this song no one knew existed? why no one like this much? why everyone knows the Wake me up song by the name Avicii only? no one knew this was Aloe Blacc's voice ? Bottom line : everyone has content but how you market it and how you present it makes all the difference.
This song you'll like when you're down and you want something soothing whereas that Avicii song can rock the entire party...that was the power of Avicii's music making capability....to turn an average song into an amazing one...same song same singer but one song no one knew....one song the entire world knows.

At the same time I was tipped off about doing another track with Aloe Blaccand I started working on that track. When I was with Mike Einziger from Incubus, we came up with the chord progression and the melody for 'Wake Me Up!' but no real lyrics. None of us sing and we really needed to get that demo down and the only person I knew that lived in LA was Aloe, so I called him and he was free. Lyrics come really easy to him so the two of us wrote them in a couple of hours and we finished the track."

Okay to everyone who wants to start arguments over "whose song it is" it's Aloe Blacc, Avicii, and Mike Eizinger's collectively. Mike and Avicii came up with the chord progression and melody. And Aloe Blacc wrote all the lyrics. Avicii said in an interview with MTV "We came up with the chord progression and melody, but no real lyrics. One of my friends was upset and struggling years ago and I told her, "If you wish and REALLY need it, I will marry you so you can stay and work and try to make a life here."
