  • As we begin our quest through the Legions campaign of Disciples 2 : Dark Prophecy, I ask.. do you have what it takes to join the Legion? Let me know what unit you would like to be and I will do my best to include your name in the series as one of the units!
    Thanks for joining me with this let's play of Disciples 2 Dark Prophecy! As this is the undisputed champion of the trilogy, it was unavoidable that I had to play though it with one of my favourite races. The enhancements it received were truly exemplary when it comes to how a sequel should be done. If you like the look of this, there are 4 other races to playthough as and plenty more content to explore.
    From Wikipedia:
    "Disciples II: Dark Prophecy is a PC game by Strategy First that was released on January 24, 2002. The game is the sequel to the 1999 game Disciples: Sacred Lands, and has become significantly more successful in terms of both sales and popularity than its predecessor."
    "Disciples II is a fantasy strategy game, set in a fictional kingdom called Nevandaar (also referred to as 'The Sacred Lands'). The main focus of the story revolves around four dominant races in a state of almost constant war. These four factions are the human Empire, the dwarven Mountain Clans, the demonic Legions of the Damned, and the skeletal Undead Hordes. There are also several other 'neutral' races such as Merfolk, Greenskins and Elves (the Elves became a full-fledged playable race with the addition of the expansion pack 'Rise of the Elves')."
    "The gameplay is divided into three main parts; building up the Capital City of your race so that you can research new Warriors and spells, and building up new armies (this involves careful resource management); using heroes (leading small squads) to explore the surroundings, procure resources and attack the enemy; and finally the battles themselves."
    The Legions of the Damned:
    "Ten years have passed since the Demons last tried to free their god from his prison beneath the earth. Although they were stopped by the combined might of the Empire and the Mountain Clans, the demons were far from beaten. In secret covens and cults they hid, biding their time, waiting for a sign from their dark god that the time was right for them to strike back against the Empire and its allies."
    "The Legions of the Damned are demons created by the fallen angel Bethrezen and devil-worshiping humans who wish to release the dark god from his ten-thousand-year captivity at the core of Nevendaar - Bethrezen's own creation for which he was cast down by the Highfather. Ashkael, Bethrezen's commander of the Legions, protects the demonic capital from all those who oppose the dark god. The Legions appear to speak a dialect similar to Latin"
    Here's some links to the store pages where you can find Disciples II

    If you would like to see how it all started, you can see my playthough of the Undead Hordes campaign in Disciples Sacred Lands, videos 1 to 3 go through a lot of the gameplay mechanics and features you'll see in this playthrough too.

      couldn't agree more, I'm astounded we haven't yet had a spiritual successor or something which captures the same kind of playability D2 has.

    Randomly stumbled upon this game when I was looking at old strategy games on steam.
    Never heard of this game before, but it's got my curiosity. Shame your "Disciples Sacred Lands, The Undead Campaign" seems to not be on YT anymore

      Hi there, you should give it a try! D2 is largely accepted as the pinnacle for the Disciples series, but D1 is still definitely worth checking out.
      The Old Undead campaign was kind of redone recently with more of a twist which is hopefully more entertaining :-)

    Yay Time for Dark Prophecy - Warrior Lord, interesting you won´t have to worry much about regeneration compared to Sacred Lands. He goes the Hard way why not? Good luck man. I love the narrators voice in D2. The ability to show those banners really helped a lot - i remember how I sometime just didnt see all units in sacred Lands. The Combat was great compared to SL. Thanks for describing the differences

    • @YesterQuest
      @YesterQuest  Před 7 lety

      My pleasure ;-)
      The number of times I have accidentally stormed into battle because I couldn't see the enemy sprite is quite concerning! the banners are a godsend to avoid that.
      Also, as much as I like a narrator (miserable but very authentic!) I do still prefer the Sacred Lands one, I think he had more of a natural narrator voice, let's just hope he went on to be incredibly successful and they couldn't afford him for D2 ;-)

    Taking a quick peek at this video but heading back to disciples 1.
    Actually the other angels screwed other Betherezen he made man and the world but the other Angels got Jealous since he was also the high father's favorite angel. So Beth wanted to show the good work he has and done and left some angels in charge to look after the world while he went to go get the highfather. Of course he did not know these angels hated him and were jealous and sooo those jealous angels that were left to guard his world they caused chaos on the world and caused Man to war among each other and messed up his world.
    This happened when Beth was on his way to show the highfather his world so then the highfather saw the resulting chaos that the jealous angels caused and instead punished Betherezen unknowingly for something he did not do.
    "Bethrezen was cast down by the Highfather as punishment for the blood that had been spilled upon the lands in his absence. He wast cast down into a world of pain and suffering. He waited in this blank domain of pain for 6 thousand years, awaiting vengeance. During this time, the foul god created a race of Demons, whose power came from his anger. The purpose of these Demons was to bring justice to the Humans who caused him to suffer"
    Hence why me personally I have no love for the highfather or the empire and I am a fan of both undead and demons. Since funny enough both leaders got screwed over heavily and are now gods filled with anger and vengeance. :D

      Actually that was a retcon D2 made, in the Sacred Lands Legion campaign's 1st mission the narration says Beth was imprisoned in the world he made, with his creations.

    I was happy I finished Disciples Sacred Lands on my other Channel before doing Disciples 2. Disciples Sacred Lands crashed quite a bit. It is pretty much a dinosaur and do to it's age it probably will become unplayable. Disciples 2. I did all the races and expansions a couple years ago 2007-2009 I think? I was not a CZcamsr back than though so I did not upload. I always went as a Warrior Lord so this time I am going as a Mage Lord. I feel I do not need to turn up the difficulty. Mage Leaders become power houses when levelled but take much more skills and care than other lords I find. I am doing the Empire first though after that I am moving to the Legions. I do not want to spoil it for people that have not played but I will just say it is because of Mission 5 Slander & Barbarism is why I chose the Empire first. They are lazy with the lord portraits. When I was choosing mine for the Empire it was a picture of a White Wizard with a different hat on.

    • @Mdobri14561
      @Mdobri14561 Před 8 lety +1

      I am pretty much doing Disciples 2 and what race I pick do to difficulty in my opinion. When I was looking online it says use the Empire if you're a beginner. I laughed because I found their campaign to be one of the hardest for certain reasons which I will not say because I do not want to ruin it for people. The hardest I found actually is the Elves because they are probably the weakest faction at the beginning and strongest near the end but I am making the exception of saving them for last because of the last expansion. The easiest campaign in my opinion is the Mountain Clans but their not any less fun. Pretty much the Empire will be first, Legions of the Damned will be second/next one, Undead Hordes, 3rd, The Mountain Clans 4th, plus expansions, and 5th and final will be the Elves due to the final expansion. It will take a while but it's ok I do this for a hobby not income based.

    • @Mdobri14561
      @Mdobri14561 Před 8 lety +1

      That would make sense. They always cut back somewhere to even it out. For the Mountain Clans are probably the mightiest with the best spells but with reduced movement.

      @@Mdobri14561 I started the empire campaign on normal and i am struggling, the demons attack in waves and wipe out my teams, i really cannot go on. Do you have any tips? I chose warrior, i leveled up but still, it's unbearable and not fun at all.

    Funnily enough really, as much as I might not like some of the voice changes as were mentioned below, what really gets me is some of the unit design changes. For example I vastly preferred the Legions counselor from Sacred Lands as opposed to 2. I think the switch the demonic tongues more than makes up for it overall, though I can't get over the chubby Counselor as scouting unit xD. The capital music was also welcome. Other than that I can't really say I disliked much of anything!

    Hi, Yester, long time follower! May I ask you what operation system you use? I can't run the game on Windows 10, compatibility modes and older Direct X files don't seem to work for me. Everyone writes the other, that I should download this and that. Nothing works. I don't want to change my operational system as I have a really powerful PC and it is mandatory to have Windows 10 for the other games. It's been so long since I played this game, I just wanna know if you found anything that could work.

  • @Terensworth
    @Terensworth Před 8 lety +1

    I have... 2 criticisms for Disciples 2, and no others. The music and the voices. You didn't seem to mention it in the first game, the music is fantastic and gives the game alot of extra charm, as do the voices of the first game, being a tad silly and narmy, but they work.
    Disciples 2 was troubling with it's music and voice work. I recall no music besides the title screen, I swear, no other piece is memorable. And the voices are rather rubbish across the board... Infact, if I recall, the Lich Queen has fluctuating voice quality in her lines!
    And that's it, really. I adore Disciples 2... Infact, I oughta reinstall it first chance I get. It never stops being fun and awesome to play.

    • @YesterQuest
      @YesterQuest  Před 7 lety

      I felt like a change of faction would be good, and I prefer the evil aligned races in Disciples the most, Disciples 2 is undeniably graphically superior, I agree with you, Sacred Lands was very charming and I felt the unit portraits had more character.

    • @P0P218
      @P0P218 Před 7 lety +1

      that is what i mean, this is Better. it just looks BETTER. but it has a different character than disciples 1. i really enjoy how this looks but "its not the same".
      it also is colour wise Really good and the overworld is great. it is just a bit difficult to make things out. bit hard to see the important bits.
      i also asume that the call to arms is long over? what a shame :)
