Didn't get bored at all...I could listen to you talk all day. Ok...welll..maybe not ALL day but a pretty long time! ;) This is perfect for newbies and those that have been doing it awhile!
LOL Dippity-Doo, wow does that bring back memories. At 61 I was around when that stuff was new. hehe I'm finally 'vintage', used to do the pin curls and sleep on the foam rollers. I'll be watching, need to refresh my skills. Great channel, new subbie!
It's great to find those simple solutions, isn't it? My breakthrough for me with dry shampoo was realizing I could just "make" my own by sprinkling a little cornstarch on my hair and buffing it with a towel. So inexpensive and healthy, and no more artificial carpet-cleaner-type smells!
I am happy to have realized that your hair is fine and straight (like mine), so not only are your videos helpful, but as a person with fine and straight hair, I feel much less trepidation about investing in product for my hair than I might after watching a tutorial from someone with thick or wavy hair. I am obsessed with having bangs, but having bangs with curl in them, so I think I'm finally getting a lock on how to accomplish that. One question though - have you ever used a linseed gel? I like the idea of something I can make myself that won't cost a lot, but most of the videos I've found about it seem to indicate it's (sadly) for thicker hair. So ultimately I'm partly thanking you for your genetic makeup, but also for consistently delivering good content!
Great video . I use some of the products that you mentioned , and it's very helpful to hear which products are your favorite , and why . Thanks so much for doing this update :)
I love that you love Tresemmé. I use their hairspray, their heat protecting spray, and their dry shampoo! Many of the products you've listed I own and I love it! Some products work better than others for me (since my hair is thin, fine, and straight, it tends to hold better with a wet set). I go back and forth between sponge and pillow rollers and then on lazy days when I don't feel like curling my hair, I use velcro rollers to give a little volume and flip my hair under. This tutorial was fantastic! It just reinforced that I'm on the right track. I want to learn pincurls (I have double prong and single prong [I like the double better and have more of them]), but I think I need that pincurl tool. o.O
I have thin hair and I can not get Layrite original yellow and white can to work in my hair. I find it to thick and it dries hard where I am unable to comb through. The Layrite's super shine works better for my hair. I use it just like you do only on the tips of my fingers. It does not dry stiff and I can still comb it through. Perfect for controlling slightly frizzy just washed hair. The pomade keeps my hair tamed until my next washing sometimes once a week or twice a week. I adore this pomade and like you it lasts me a long time since I only use it once a week or when needed.
Great vid; first one of yours I have watched and I am so grateful for all the info! Nod to Cherry Dollface for directing me here. Looking forward to learning more from you. Thanks! xoxo
I was wondering if you ever tried Big Sexy Hair spray & play Volumizing Hairspray? I have fine silky hair and I've found it's the only hair spray i can brush through and the style still stays, it's also not sticky and has a light smell that doesn't linger. I get mine at Ulta when it's on sale for $9.99 I've been watching you for YEARS now and i love your video's! Thanks for all the hard work you put into them!
I have the Denman styling brush it was the best thing I got for my hair styles... I just ordered the lay right grooming spray I have seen you use that heaps so I will try it next.
Do you know of a good video tutorial for rag rolling or have you done one? Is a rag curl similar or completely different to a pin curl? I'm trying to find a comfortable sleeping solution... a video about sleeping on a setting style and the degrees of comfort with each method would be so enlightening. I've tried sleeping on pin curl clips and I just can't do it... help!
This was great! Thank you so much. I have two questions, 1 - what size curling iron do you use when you set your hair? 2 - The Treseme Heat Protectant and Layrite Grooming Spray, do you spray those on dry hair piece by piece, then curl them and pin them up? Just wanted to clarify if you used those on dry hair or wet sets. Thanks!!!
Just discovered you and I'm so happy I did. So so helpful. I am wondering if you have any tips for frizz when doing vintage styles. My hair always friezes when I do rolls I end up looking like Amy Winehouse .
Layrite pomade smells and feels great but sadly my hair hates it. I have very wavy hair and Layrite pomade really brings out the frizzies in my do :( It's perfect on straight hair though, my hubbie loves it!
Do you have any hair product suggestions for people with scent sensitivity? I have a family member who is a little allergic to the extra scented or chemically sprays/mousses/etc. Thanks for the suggestions, love the hairstyles on your channel!
Motions foaming wrap has such a weird chemical watermelon-y smell. LOVE those bobby pins from Sally. The absolute best. They are actually on my shopping list for tomorrow. I have no idea where they all go... Goodwill always has those chiffon scarves for about a buck. I have probably ten different colors. I found that Hobby Lobby has a great selection of the more bandana style...dozens of patterns and colors for a buck each as well!
Amy D I have a real problem with insulting those who don't make decisions that harmonize with your own, when that person is perfectly capable of reviewing the facts and making their own call on the matter. Do your thing, by all means, but be respectful of others in the meantime please...
I am surprised [anyone felt] insulted - that was not my intention whatsoever. People can make decisions with or without facts. Agreed. Please don't insinuate I wasn't being respectful - it goes both ways. I never understood why people feel insulted when they are told information/facts.
What are your thoughts on velcro rollers? I have not used them much, but it is my understanding that they are more used for those smooth, voluminous 60s styles. Do they work for other styles though?
I am absolutely heartbroken. Vintage Glam Thermal Shine Spray is officially sold out online! Is there something you'd suggest replacing it with? P.S. You are my vintage goddess.
+Kathryn Chappell It is heartbreaking! pomades and stuff always weigh my hair down so it was my god-send. I've heard good things about the Kenra Shine Spray so I'll probably try that when I'm to of my Vintage Glam. :)
Love your video but I have a question and this could really be answered by anyone but do you know of any other youtubers who show vintage style hair tutorials that have really long and thick hair? Most of the videos I see show people with shorter and thinner hair. I have really thick and long hair which makes it difficult to curl it myself and I've yet to figure out how to do it properly. Any suggestions would be helpful, tia!
The reason you don't see long, thick hair for vintage styling, typically, is that long hair was not popular in the 40's and 50's when these styles were conceived. Long hair was considered in opposition to the war effort in the 1940's, particularly. However, for modern versions of these styles utilizing very long hair, check out Iris J. She has some great long-haired vintage tutorials. :)
The Megan Experience Iris J. is a great channel to check out. Not to many vintage styles. The ones she does have are so easy. My favorite videos are pin up in a hurry and her go to hairstyles.
I'm down to my last bottle of Sahag and can't find it online anymore - do you know if it's discontinued? If so, are you back to Motions or is there a replacement for the wonderful Sahag sculpt?
I've purchased three snoods from this woman via etsy.com and worn them to several WWII reenactments and have gotten many compliments on them. It looks like she's on vacation right now though, so check back later. www.etsy.com/shop/ArtheliasAttic
So you don't like lota body anymore? You talk so fast and move the product in your hands too much I couldn't catch what you think will work for thin damp hair? I just bought lotta body but I could take it back.
Sandra Meza I’m sorry it was difficult for you to understand my fast talking. I use both Lottabody and Motions depending on the set I’m doing. I prefer Motions most of the time though.
Didn't get bored at all...I could listen to you talk all day. Ok...welll..maybe not ALL day but a pretty long time! ;) This is perfect for newbies and those that have been doing it awhile!
Hummmm. Actually kinda relaxing having that background whirring

Great tip about dry shampoo for refreshing bangs. I have that issue all the time, and never knew there was a solution.

Just got my grip tuth combs! They are wonderful! Hold my stubborn hair beautifully! :-)
I think I got it: motions foaming body lotion (mouse) right?

Wow! You look amazing! Ty for this video!
Spoolies!
Which of those hairsprays is the workable/brushable one? Or is it both? Your videos are life-changing, thank you SO MUCH.

Hi, Ive recently started following and love it. I also really love that post/chart in the background. Where can I get one?
Motions foaming wrap has such a weird chemical watermelon-y smell.

Best do Goodwill. ;) www.huffingtonpost.com/news/hobby-lobby-birth-control/
Pah-shaw...I'm there to purchase their wares...I don't care about the politics of the company.
Interesting. I really thought people cared about funding misogynistic corporations. That's the only reason I mentioned it.

thaaank you!!
Does anyone know where I can find the thumbnail?
Where did you get the old fashioned picture of girls that is behind you
I got it from a website called Vintage Hair. :)
I am absolutely heartbroken. Vintage Glam Thermal Shine Spray is officially sold out online! Is there something you'd suggest replacing it with?

What, Elnett Hairspray cost 12 - 15 $ where you live?!? Here you get ist for under 4€ = around 5$... 😲
Where did you get the poster in the back?!❤️❤️❤️
Faithmeliz I made it out of an old poster thing that was a lot smaller.
I'm down to my last bottle of Sahag and can't find it online anymore - do you know if it's discontinued? If so, are you back to Motions or is there a replacement for the wonderful Sahag sculpt?
Laura Windley I’ve been out of it for years! I miss it so much!! The Motions is fine for now. But I really need a better product again
@@LisaFreemontStreet thank you!
I love the vintage community. I dislike how closed off it seems though sometimes.
What size soft rollers do you recommend?
brainsareyummy The 'medium' size is usually best. :)
can you do a video on under garments
I already have. Just search vintage undergarments on my channel.
Where do I buy layrite products? Can I just say, I feel like I've found my people.
Sonja Maria Dover you can find them at the Hawleywoods website
Where do you purchase your snoodes?
I've purchased three snoods from this woman via etsy.com and worn them to several WWII reenactments and have gotten many compliments on them. It looks like she's on vacation right now though, so check back later.
www.etsy.com/shop/ArtheliasAttic
Okay thank you
Belle blossoms sells the drapey manufactured ones that are commonly seen. but the site linked above is amazing and authentic. I concur!
I'm having a really hard time deciding what kind of soft roller set I should get my hair hair is naturally thick and wavy help please! :)
I would start with medium sized foam rollers and spray your hair damp only to roll...never from wet. It'll take forever to dry!! Haha
Thank you!! Are the medium sized ones the 1 1/2"?
I wouldn't think so....they're about the diameter of a toilet paper holder maybe?
I got them! Thanks! :D
I love your mouth! I know that is the CREEPIEST compliment ever, haha, but your lips and teeth are so pretty.
Gabrielle well thank you! Lol
Please breathe!
But great video anyways ;) Loved the recommendations

Thanks for your tips. I will get Motions. Good tricks for the dry shampoo, I'll get that too. Thanks for your quick reply!!
