  • The Notre Dame of Maryland University Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN program gives you the opportunity to leverage your non-nursing bachelor’s degree into a BSN without committing to four more years of school. In fact, you can graduate as a practice-ready registered nurse in as few as 15 months.
So, what is an accelerated nursing program? As a student enrolled in our full-time, four-semester nursing program, you’ll complete a comprehensive hybrid curriculum that comprises online or on-campus coursework, hands-on labs, and clinical rotations at some of the top health care facilities in Maryland. Together, these learning components will help you build the skills you need to sit confidently for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) after graduation.
NDMU’s smaller class sizes and intuitive e-learning platform help our students feel supported throughout their nursing education. “I really like that small private school feel that Notre Dame gives. You’re not just another person, it’s very individualized and everyone there knows you and is there to help you,” says Nicolette, a Notre Dame Accelerated BSN student.
While you’ll be expected to complete assignments under the deadlines set forth by instructors, the flexibility of studying when it’s convenient for you makes the ABSN program at NDMU accessible. “Being able to work at your own pace and not having to be on campus five days a week was really important to me,” says Daisy, a Notre Dame Accelerated BSN student.
Our hands-on skills and simulation labs empower you to put the nursing theory concepts you’ve learned through your nursing coursework into action in a risk-free environment.
Finally, you’ll complete clinical rotations where you’ll treat real patients under the supervision of your clinical instructors. This part of the program offers insight into what a working nurse may encounter during their shift. “Being able to interact with parts of the community is so important to me and it helps me figure out what I want to do in the future. Being able to talk to them for the 8 hours we have in clinical is what I look forward to every single week,” Daisy says.
