Okay, let me say that this is NOT supposed to cover EVERY super small detail and back story of every single character. I see a lot of people thinking that, this is covering the general story of all 3 games for those that might not be super familiar with it. If I was to cover every tiny little detail, it would be almost 5 hours and there is a video out there for that already, go check it out!

I find it funny how a cute squid game which involves shooting opponents with your colored ink (basically paintball) has such deep, terrifying, dangerous, twisted lore to it. That’s what makes the game magical in my opinion
It’s one of the things I LOVE about Nintendo. Most all of their big series are filled to the brim with whimsy, but they aren’t afraid to really delve into the implications of many of these worlds if the want to.
Splatoon in particular I love BECAUSE of its incredible worldbuilding. It may actually be my favorite shooter series, actually.
Worth noting, the Squid Sisters did not compose the Calamari Inkantation. It’s an ancient song built into the DNA of inklings and octolings. The Squid Sisters just covered it. That’s why it’s called “the heavenly melody” and why hearing it was enough to cause Marina to defect from the army.

Deep Cut wanting to protect the Alterna vaults because they are on sacred land is not accurate. They themselves said their aim was to sell the treasures to donate to Splatsville and keep a shallow cut. Also, they did mean harm. After Agents 1 and 2 give Deep Cut the treasures, they felt bad about trying to kill Neo Agent 3.
imo Splatoon has earned it's place as one of the best game franchises of all time

Thanks for making this! The Splatoon lore gets a bit confusing sometimes so I’m very glad you went slowly and in depth about what exactly happened without it being confusing.

So to my theory,We,The player/Agents had to save the world a whopping 5 TIMES!if you don't get it,Here's the list:
Splatoon 1:Saving the great zapfish.
Splatoon 2:Same as Splatoon one but plus Callie.
Octo expansion:Saving Inkopolis from commander Tatar.
Splatoon 3:Defeating Mr.Grizz
Side order:Defeating Overlorder.
Correct me if I'm wrong,But I've only played 2 up to side order.
Technically, it was only 2, possibly 3. At its core, the conflict with Octavio was mainly just squabbling between the Octarian military and what is basically an Inkadian vigilante group. The Great Zapfish is only really confirmed to power 2 cities. With speculation that the series takes place on one of the Japanese islands, that’s not a grand scope.
Order was pulling in a lot of people into the Members, but only people from Inkopolis and Splatsville were confirmed to be affected, and it’s hard to say if it was a global event or not.
Grizz and Tartar, though? Yeah, those were definitely globe-threatening catastrophes.
To think Splatoon lore would lead us THIS deep down a rabbit hole.

It's not that Agent 3 was partly Sanatized during OE, but they did have their free will suppressed due to the Sanatized Ink. Thankfully though defeating them manages to get said ink off of them.

just a little detail, not really important but still curious to me:
the parallel canon is actually only made of inklings, for most of them we can’t see their tentacles nor ears and the only thing that can help us make out if they’re an inkling or octoling is their fingers. therefore, all of their fingers are square-shaped so they’re inklings.
plus when they die it’s generally inkling boy sounds.
once again this was just a useless detail but i’m genuinely curious as to why the parallel canon is only made of inklings

Calamari cousins are what I believe a Japanese translation, but when it come to wanting them to be squids, although a Splatoon theory there is that they're actually cuttlefishes, their had to be compromises

Tbh,something i personally think is happening for the great turf war's more... Ridiculous stuff is that it's moreso propaganda than it is legit facts. Since there are other scrolls that demonize inklings or octolings for either factions when we know in reality what they're about.
So i'd think there's more going on in the background that was covered up with these stories of "unplugged machines,superior number of limbs,not waking up early." and more.

One possible error...
The "Shellendorf Institute" is only connected to the Shellendorf family in the EN localization. No other localization ties that museum to any characters' family in the franchise. In JP, it's called what the inkling text actually reads: Devon Museum (or officially, Devonian Oceanographic Museum).
I have an idea to celebrate Splatoon's upcoming 10th anniversary. What if there is a competition between the three idol groups for Idol Group of the Decade. Which one do you want to see win?

I hope so, as a big Agent 4 stan, but Nintendo did say that 3 would be the last in this storyline.
I know that but my theory states will appear in the splatoon 4 dlc because Nintendo is required to do one and in the splatoon 4 story mode we will have a new group of people so there will be 2 or 3 idols and the main character but then Nintendo will have to make a dlc and will have no characters so they will make the dlc a prequel and have 4 as the protagonist

This is a fantastic recapture of everything to this point. I wonder what the final festival will bring for the upcoming title of splatoon four or how it will shape up the remainder of splatoon three.

Where did it say the Octarians lived in "Octoland"?? I don't recall seeing that in any of the books or scrolls/logs/dev diaries.
Edit: Also the reason for brainwashing being making friends with octos is so Callie, but I don't remember that being canon either.

For a video this long it's impressive how well you did, I'm a giant Splatoon lore enthusiast (read all the art books, interviews, tidbits, etc.) and this was still pretty refreshing to watch. (Sorry if that sounds braggy, I'm just impressed. Couple things may be off at least from my perspective but it's the best summary I've seen on here, which is again impressive.) if I wasn't already subbed I would be now!

I apologize if this comment sounds a little harsh, but this is a pretty bad retelling of the Splatoon lore.
Aside from the fact that you only cover the stuff that's spoon fed to you in the games and never bother bringing up any of the external material outside of the games in a video titled "The ENTIRE Splatoon History Explained" you get a BUNCH of stuff wrong about the lore you do cover anyway. Such as...
-Saying that Grizz landed on earth at the same time Alterna was created
-Not bothering to bring up the energy crisis that the Octarians are suffering and claiming they only stole the Great Zapfish for "revenge."
-Saying that Marie is the new leader of the Squidbeak Splatoon in Splatoon 2..
-Claiming that Cuttlefish and Agent 3 have retired when they haven't.
-Not bothering to mention Off The Hook until the blender scene in Octo Expansion and even when you do, not bothering to bring up how they met in the first place.
-Saying they "saved the day" by contacting Agent 3 despite the fact that Agent 3 was already in the Deep Sea Metro.
-Regularly calling the Sanatized Octarians "Wired Green Octoarians."
-Calling Deep Cut "creatures" for some reason as if we have never seen an Inkling or Octoling before. What it is just because Big Man is the odd one out being a Manta Ray?
-Saying that Captain 3 rehydrated Cuttelfish "completely" with a single tear.
-Incorrectly using she/her pronouns for the Non Binary character Acht.
-Saying that Agent 8 has to ascend 30 floors of the spire "again" even though you only had to go up 10 the first time when saving Marina.
-Claiming that Parallel Cannon are "Inklings and Octolings" when they are only purely Inklings.
-Only bothering to bring up ONE conversation you can trigger with Smolluk "realizing he was just there to help Octolings."
It's actually kind of worrying this video has as many views and likes as it does while having the mistakes it does because there's now a potential this miss information could be spread to other people who know nothing about the Splatoon lore. This is why doing proper research and being throughout on top of reading over your script several times helps instead of making a video that feels like it's only trying to capitalize on the recent release of Side Order.
Don't forget that he mentions a place called octoland which as far as I can remember doesn't exist
