- The legendary swords of Muramasa Sengo were famous for their sharpness and quality. The Japanese also called them cursed. Their were stories of owners of Muramasa blades suddenly striking down their enemies, lost in bloodlust. The famed swordsmith himself was called crazy, a bloodthirsty demon.
Tokugawa Ieyasu believed in these stories and was convinced that Muramasa blades were cursed. He thought these demon blades targeted the Tokugawa clan. It is not surprising why, his family had a history of bad luck with Muramasa blades.

in particular, he is in Shirou's body as Shirou is the most person that looks like him in terms of appearance and personality and Shirou is most likely his descendant and it would make sense as the only magic he got the hang of if Projection and shirou uses it for making swords

According to my Great Uncle, 83 (Nissei), our family katana is a Muramasa. Funny to learn how it survived so long. It is, by family custom, passed down the eldest female line. It is "supposedly" cursed unless owned by the correct heir.

First time I heard of the Muramasa swords was from the Megaman Battle Network series, where Shadowman would use it and deal as much damage as he had taken during his fight. Really nice to finally learn their origin.
Omg no way, that was me too. I started with MMBN 3 Blue and have loved it ever since. Star Force was cool in its own way, but a part of me wishes for an alternative universe where the OG titles kept going past 6 or had re-releases on steam with network play. Great games (6, 3, and maybe 2 are my favorites)

I love when weapons have as much backstory as a human. I forget the myth completely but there was a story of two swordsmiths that made swords that translated to 10000 cold nights and something else.

The sword shown in the video is actually a holy masamune sword that is on display at the Tokyo national museum I've seen it a couple times it is a beautiful work of art that if you are ever in Tokyo do yourself a favor and check out the swords at the museum

I came here because I really loved the game Muramasa: The demon blade (U.S. title) for the Wii. It's interesting to see what parts of the mythos where taken from historical fact.
Well now it makes sense why in Akame ga KILL! they made the “demon blade“ called “Murasame” which is pretty close to Muramasa
