The Perfect British Scones Recipe (The Queen’s favourite)

    Here is the recipe:
    Ingredients:
    3 1/4 Cups of All Purpose flour (450g)
    1 Stick of soft butter (113g)
    1/2 Cup sugar
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    1 Egg
    3/4 Cup of milk
    1 Egg for glazing
    OPTIONAL: 1 Cup of raisins if making fruit scones
    Method:
    1. Set the oven to 410"F (210'C)
    2. In a large bowl, sift in the flour, baking powder and sugar. Add in the butter and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
    3. Make a well in the center and add the beaten egg along with the milk. With a metal spoon or with your hands bring the mixture together making sure not to over-mix the dough as it will tighten the dough.
    4. If the mixture is a little dry add a little more milk. (You don't want the mix to be too dry , or too set that it sticks to the rolling pin.)
    5. Lightly dust the table with flour and roll out the dough to about 1 inch (2.5cm) thick. Cut using a 2 inch cookie cutter or use a glass if you don't have a cookie cutter. Then place the cut out dough on a baking sheet about 1 inch apart and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
    6. Bake for about 12-15 minutes. When cooked, place the scones onto a wire rack to cool.
    7. Serve with jam, clotted cream, or whipped cream. Bon Appetit
