I can’t wait to try the Hobonichi for next year. I just started planning in August and went with the Happy Planner because it’s so easy to customize and franken plan. But the more planning videos I watch the more I want to try all the other ones as well 😅
I completely understand!!! Planner season is a difficult (but fun) time of the year to watch CZcams because you want to get ALL THE PLANNERS because they all look so nice! Yes, Trapper Keeper! I got the A6 version and I didn’t even make the connection, but now I totally see it. I adored my Trapper Keepers back in the day. I’m kind of sad that the new ones come with metal rings instead of the plastic ones that slid open. Great (and thorough) haul video.

😂 The tissues are to make these paper dolls in the pictures! I think children in Japan make them on rainy days and hung them in the window or something like that haha
I found that out when I was editing and had to go back and see why I had it. It was definitely a surprise to see it in my box!!

In 2022, I used a Cousin for work. This year I am using the Avec. I went ahead and ordered the Cousin again for 2024, mainly because I found I had to set up my planner 2xs in 1 year - and while I’m a planner nerd and don’t shy away from that sort of thing, I wasn’t crazy about it in my work planner. Also, I did not like having to look in another book to find something- at least during the transition period. Now, ask me what I’ll get for 2025….hahaha, I might switch it up again! But I LOVE the monthly, weekly and daily layouts. There’s no way I’ll switch to another size for work. My sister ordered the same gingham cover you got! It’s super cute!
For personal/family- I ADORE the weeks! I sprung for the classic navy leather for 2024 year.
I wish I could find a good planner for work. My daily appointments and meetings fluctuate so much that it makes having a physical planner too difficult. I have to live off of my Outlook calendar and digital to do lists because things move around too much to put it on paper.
I was REALLY tempted to get the HON this year and stay with a full year instead of the Avec but I wanted to try out the Avec in 2024 just to see what I like better. 2024 will the second year in a Hobonichi and I want to try out what makes the most sense for me. I am also going to try out some Common Planners this year to see how I like them.

As an 80's kid who loved her Trapper Keepers, I loved your comparison! I didn't end up ordering from the Hobonichi Site this year, and I was fairly boring, haha! I went with the Cousin Avec as well for the same reasons. I made the switch to the Avec mid-year and have loved the switch. I enjoyed my Cousin, but it was hard to write on. I also ended up with a Cats & Me Weeks. Enjoy your haul, Heidi!
I really wish we would have had digital cameras back in the 80s so I could find pictures of what my Trapper Keeper looked like (I am pretty sure it had either cats or dogs on it). I am sure my parents have physical pictures but searching through thousands of unsorted pictures just isn't my idea of a good time!
I love my Cousin and having everything from 2023 in one place, but journaling in the daily pages is getting annoying now. Really looking forward to not worrying about that next year. I am even starting to reduce the amount of washi and stickers to help reduce the excess bulk,

I knew the bag would be tiny. I could tell from the pics but also the gift is always some small inexpensive trinket. It’s like getting a toy with your happy meal. It’s just a kitschy little thing they do.
I always think it’s funny how rushed people are to order off the hobo site just to get a little inexpensive free thing they end up trashing 😂 and for the pen - which yes the body colors are unique but you can buy that pen itself lots of places in different colors so you don’t have to pay the Japan shipping to get a good pen that works on the TRP nicely - and in my experience it’s not even the best on the paper. It’s good but not all that. Just funny to me.
When I used to buy Hobos I did large group orders with planner friends to share shipping but even then depending on the fx rate it wasn’t much different than buying in the states (unless it was a hobo site exclusive you couldn’t snag).
And now that I know my discount code to Atlas Stationers applies to hobo it can be cheaper to order here.
No judgement - I’ve ordered at release time even on vacation before to snag from hobo and it’s a fun experience. But I’ve found cost wise and need wise it’s not always worth it. Or maybe that’s just me 😅
Last year I bought my Hobo from Amazon for $60 which would have been the same price (almost) if I bought from Hobonichi. This year, since I knew that I wanted to try the Avec along with some other products, I decided to buy from Hobonichi. I may decide to try something else next year.

Yes their plain notebooks have always had different color grid. I shared them on my channel years ago when they first launched them showing it. But it’s light.
The colors of the grid in the Cousin and in the notebook doesn't bother me but I know I have read comments that other people don't like the grid colors because it can mess with their color themes. I think I notice the colors at the beginning of each month in the daily pages but then my brain doesn't recognize the colors after that. I just wasn't prepared to see the colors in the notebook...
The freebies are very child like 😂😂😂😂, but kinda cute I guess. Great haul
