Teach I must give it to you,you did your research and homework before all of your interviews. Most of the people you have interviewed were before your time yet you are as comfortable and knowledgeable as if you were a witness to those era! That is why you are the teacher. I can’t even begin to thank and commend you for giving these foundation artists who contributed so much to the music and culture yet were never rewarded financially. Your work will serve, teach and preserve the real history of the music and the incredible artists behind it. Continued blessings and growth my friend, your work is appreciated more than you will ever know.
This means a lot Sir Karl and I’m most appreciative of your support and kind words
So true teach Dem well advance when it comes to music history
Bless up your self teach Dem

Puddy roots a bad bad artist in the 80s
@@TeachDem you are very welcome Teach, not too many from this current generation care or can appreciate the foundation of the music. Keep making us proud my friend. Jah guidance always..
What a joy to see Puddy pop up in my feed! Your interviews are amazing, Teacher.
Bless up Teacher, OMG this Artist still has it, I have no idea how most of these great artists don't get what they deserve in the music industry Poddy got such a great voice and work so hard, I love his vibe still has a determination i really do hope that he gets his Royalties for his work, these guys are the trendsetter, original Reggae Music Dance Hall Artist, blessings to one of the great Mr Puddy Roots 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🙏🙏
This is the best example of a clean heart DJ sharing the through history of dancehall big up puddy.
It's Teach Dem again! Thanks for taking me back down memory lane. Here in Azania (South Africa) 🇿🇦 we used to dance to Puddy Roots songs. Champion Bubbler mashed up the dance. Give Thanks for the wonderful interview and be able to see Puddy Roots. Keep doing the good job.
Yes, yes, yes the great great Puddy Roots. Refreshing unsung hero.
What a voice.. Wow! so much talent in Jamaica 🇯🇲
Teach dem you win again! Puddy Roots so so wicked. Love the history.
Teach Dem , you are a God Bless youth, and you seem to be full of compassion. Blessings
👊🏽
@@TeachDem ask Jr Kelly , he testified against his brother killers, and see if you can find out the truth behind General Echo death
This man voice clean like crystal springs water. Thanks Teach for featuring this legend. Blazing
It's a joy for you to highlight these guys!!
First heard Puddy on my area sound Stereophonic in the 70's, although I knew he was from Arrows before. Last time I heard him live was on the big dance in Slough, England, when he was on Killamanjaro vs Saxon in the 80's. One of the best sound system singjays in the history of the culture in my opinion.
Blessings, Blessings. Foundation sounds Singer. It a joy to listen to these 70th and 80th Singers.
Keep up the good work Teach Them.
Puddy tough original what a voice & humble spirit. Quick with lyrics.
Puddy Roots put me back straight back to the 80s, one of the baddest singer in dancehall
My feeling is that Puddy Roots was such a staple in the dancehall on the soundsystem which is probably the reason the local producers weren't motivated in pushing his songs. He probably was labeled as a soundsystem singer.
Ziggyman you love peter TOSH.RASTA
@@glendoncodling1012 Yes Iya
Puddy was the first singer in dancehall i know. It was on Arrows sound!
Great interview..this man a foundation in the dancehall, more blessings Puddy roots !!
A real talk Teach puddy was definitely the badess dancehall/sound system singer. The man voice still fresh.
Puddy Roots voice is still fresh, bless up Teach Dem.
The youths don’t know who Puddy was. This man would hold the mic for hours and sing a different song all the time. I am glad that his voice hasn’t really lost its sting. The great Puddy Roots. Blessings fadda!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
The fourth generation youths dem don't know this foundation singer' that have paved the way.
So true you have to be a sound man from back in the 80s fi know who puddy is he was way before Sanchez Wayne Wonder one of The baddest Dancehall singers and also the power saw
@@dj1na
Well, I am of age and feel that the 80s were the diamond era of dancehall.
Dem man ya build the foundations of dancehall n reggae. Version days that's why most of his songs are spinoffs n that's why they weren't pushed. Blessed Puddy
@@soniajohnson6308
So true
This is really a blessing teach dem going up hearing alot of these songs and never seen a face to them now after watching these interviews definitely will let me appreciate those songs even more

i hope the young entertainers protect the legacy that the veterans set, because reggae/dancehall music is a blessing to Jamaica
Another great interview Teach 👏. Another of our living legend- Puddy Roots is certainly among the greats
Another interview that’s an epic one!
Shame on me for the second time who was gonna skip the interview due to not hearing if this artist before. Shame on me as music lover! Teach Dem, continue to teach us and bless up Puddy!
When I go to Jamaica I have to voice a dubplate with him
Teach. Great interview. U are a real lover of the foundation. Bringing these artists back to life . Nuff respect.
I passed over this interview so many times. Shame on me too. Puddy roots a big icon
Indeed, we haffi apologize. Don’t sleep pon Teach Dem and his choices :)
Nice interview. Jaro owe Puddy Roots an award for giving Jaro his all. Jaro should make a hour long tape in tribute to Puddy, just like he do for Luciano and Sizzla and the late great Garnett Silk. To show appreciation for the blood sweat and tears. Best Puddy dance was Jaro vs Saxo vs Unity. Puddy, Dirty Harry and Little Twitch. Murder dem. Inna dem yard. Pon dem territory. Puddy on the sleng teng riddim. Sound boy DEAD.
Pure energy big up puddy man voice strong good one teach.
Big up yuh self 🙏🏾 mi general Puddy Roots one of the sweetest voice out of Jamaica I remember Puddy from back in the days when I was living on Bryden Street east Kingston this brethren was a very humble human being👌🏾
Easy EVERSAW
Puddy Roots, omg smh,had a great voice back then(still does)just didn't know y he didn't make it big, sounded a lot like Horace Andy in his younger years, very humble indeed and pleasant.... big up u self Puddy🙏
Growing up in Rockfort (Rennock Lodge) Puddy Roots would be seen all the time in the community as his girl friend Elleena would be seen many time with Puddy. I was a young child when I first saw this artist. I am glad I have the opportunity through teach Dem to see and hear Puddy story. One of the artist that was held back by a system that was setup to only have some success and many failed due to circumstance unknown to us.
Thank you , for featuring the artists who have not truly gotten their due. Never ever heard of him !
It’s my pleasure Lady Eliman
Dem man ya a foundation beloved
One of my favorite artists on jaro, was happy to meet him in the late 80s in Montreal.. Jahman international
Why we don't have our own walk of fame in jamaica are we need a reggae museum with all our foundation artists...I heard the name but never can put a face to him
Puddy sound just like 37 years ago vintage stuff this sound just like then
Yes i am from Gambia 🇬🇲West Africa i hear about puddy Root two years back after listening to his tunes him sing good Big Respect to the Veran 🎤👊
Blessings and love with respect to u all supporting teach dem a steppa life tv blessings and love straight Cross the board 🇯🇲❤️🇧🇸
damn teach dem this hit home for me, this is a legend, and it's nostalgic for me, because I used to live across the street from him in rockfort, he used to live on Oliver road, I was a little boy then ,damn life is so crazy...he was a celebrity to me..big up puddy roots..
GREAT PUDDY..LEGEND IN THE BUSINESS 🎵🎼🎼🎼🎧🎤🎤🎵
Yo Teach dem im tuned into your class and ive learned so much over the years fam...nah lie!
Most of these songs we hear but could never put the faces to them. True History Class! The Record industry was so corrupt and treated these Artist so unfair...Timeless Music can never get old. Bless up Puddy
Its a blessing to have gotten the chance to speak with this artist on phone i can't wait to meet him in person
The most entertaining show for me..Puddy u a real artiste ..We still need to honour these forgettable artiste
When you hear the name Puddy Roots you get flashbacks of the ORIGINAL Jaro with Cat, Early B, Burro and Ainsley at the control tower -- the only Jaro era I respect, sorry Trooper fans. He was average vocally but he was very spontaneous
I was thinking the exact same thing. When I think of Jaro I think of Early B, Cat, Twitch, Dirty Harry/ UU Maddo and Ainsley not the dub plate juggling Jaro (maybe showing my age). Puddy needed more original songs and stage shows but I cannot put him above other singers who used to sing on sound in the 80's like Half Pint, Junior Reid, Nitty Gritty, Michael Palmer, Don Carlos, Sugar Minott , Frankie Paul, etc.
That’s was the best of live dj’s in the dance.. by the way jaro was a wicked sound.. I used to go to Jamaica for 2 week vacation and I go all the jaro dances during those 2 weeks
@@punanny123 Correct. Ex. when Puddy went to Geoge Phang, Phang had Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty and a young Frankie Paul. Puddy doesn't have what it takes to match those singers on any level; hence the lack of promotion
Maaaan o man, I was a teenager when I first heard Puddy Roots on a Killamanjaro tape.. nothing but love, amazing voice - still have the tapes:)
What??? I can't wait for this one. Boom!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣
Puddy so funny when he's talking he reminded me of soup Bone 🤣😂😂🤣😂
Another day , another lesson! Big up Teach and Puddy Roots respect is concrete.
Teach continue to maintain that humility, it's a fruit of the spirit, it will take you to places ,that you would will never imagine. Bless up yourself.🙏🙏

The great Puddy Roots 🇯🇲🇸🇳
Wha I finally made the live. Big up from Portugal
Greetings Teach Dem! All the very best to you. Your work is wonderful!! As for Puddy Roots, he's a humble youth. He use to deal with a princess named "Elena" the niece of "Justin Hinds" a famous 60's Artiste, and lead singer of "The Dominoes". One of his hit songs, which may've been by the same title, was inspired by her as a child. (Justin's sister, is Helena's mother). As for Puddy, he was a child star to us on Arrows Hifi. I had never chant on the mike but had hoped to. His voice was so nice on the mike. When I had started hearing Sister Nancy about 10 yrs later, she seems to remind me of the great Puddy Ranks. I didn't know how he had gotten the name though, and didn't ask him. Bobby Reds, from the East a up and coming tough looking youth, whom I used to admire in those earlier years, had talked on the mike also and he and a few of his friends names would be announced, in some dances, once they were recognized. They were young teenagers in those times. Puddy Roots and Sister Nancy's voices were unique on sound systems to me. Arrows HiFi was the talk then. I think that "Crutches" may have been jealous at times when Puddy takes the mike. Puddy was our Michael Jackson in the early 70's. One night at a dance in Little cooper, not too long after about 12:00am. an Alton Ellis selection called "Hurting Me" was played. Arrows turntablist played the version of which the dub music was been heard without a vocal. Puddy didn't care for the consequences at this time as this was one of the militant dances, so Puddy lashed out at a rude boy police who wasn't present at the party but had seem to be a regular headache whenever a dance is in session with ones wearing dreadlocks. Puddy seem to have taunted him by deejaying these lyrics : "Ah me seh Tracy ah bwoy, ......an a dat yuh fe know!" " Ah me seh Tracy a bwoy,...... an a dat yuh nuh know!" just as what the bassline of the song had seem to be saying. But, low and behold, Tracy, who may have being a Sargent at the time, and may have been lurking somewhere nearby, suddenly appears while everyone was laughing and dancing in support of Puddy's lyrics, and shut down the sound system and mash up/mash down the dance. The dance ended early and a short time of fun transformed into a long night of sadness. Outside of that incident, it seem that Arrows was a victim to the police in the East. The turntablist seem to be a gentleman but his music seem to have attract only badmen. There would hardly be women in the party, as they seem to be somewhat afraid of what type of men would be attending. It usually was called a "bull party/dance." maybe named by the police. Arrows HiFi was the King of the East at the time. Its previous owner was Prince Patrick. It was a unique sound Islandwide at the time also.. Those were the "cassette and Tape" era. I was a staunch dancehall attendee in those times and had narrowly escaped death on many occasions as others may have too. The shooters and intentional shooters were just worthless beasts in human formations, that it seems, has had nothing else that they would prefer or rather do. I am so glad, Teach Dem, that I had never wish to be a member or become an unfortunate victim of that killing crew. Keep up the good work, TEACH DEM, and don't change from being you!
Bless up teach
Other great blessing bro. Thank you 🙏🏿
