I'm not gonna deny she was abusive but only with words, she never hurt wei wuxian physically until that moment, even then she wasn't harsh when she whipped him. She only hurt people with words and doesn't abuse her authority as the lady of the house and if she did then wei wuxian wouldn't be living with them. If she was loved by her husband then she wouldn't have turned out a bitter person or if he only had given love to jiang cheng like wei wuxian then at the very least she would have not been so harsh in her treatment of wei wuxian. She truly loved her children unlike the father who was still crying about his first love like justin bieber. She was truly an amazing and complex character. If still think she is unlikeable then think what wen choas woman almost did to mianmian in the cave due to her jealously, where as madam yu had to endure a man who openly showed his affection to the son of his crush. She could have turned out worse than that snake woman but she had morals and was strong.
@@annaxxx123It's one thing to say that she's a layered and complex character, which I can agree with, but it's totally another thing to act as if verbal abuse is any less valid than physical abuse. Her husband was irresponsible but it doesn’t anything she has ever done. She refused to hit Wei Ying more than necessary because she could tell right from wrong, but that's the bare minimum and shouldn't justify anything she's said to him. You can sympathize with her and her struggles, but she was abusive as hell to Wei Ying, which automatically pushes down any level of respect she deserved.

Oh yeah and if we need to compare her to arguably one of the worst characters on the show JUST to show she's not a bitch... she's probably a bitch. She was a good CHARACTER to learn about, but not a likable one at all.

When you think about it, all the women are strong and badass in this Donghua. MianMian leaves her clan because she realizes the injustice and prejudice towards Wei Ying and others like him and knows they won’t change and knows the cultivation clans are toxic af minus probably Gusu Lan. Wen Qing was the best Doctor in the Donghua and took no bs from anybody. She sacrificed her life for Wei Ying and her family to keep them safe even when she probably knew Jin Guangshaun wouldn’t keep his word and was humble enough to tell Wei Ying “thank you” and “I’m sorry” because she was truly grateful to him. Yanli was the real mother figure to Wei Ying and the best sister ever. She never held her tongue when anybody spoke bad about Wei Ying and was so brave that she ran out onto a battlefield just to find him and was the only person to snap Wei Ying out of his rage even though she was a young mother and it cost her her life. Yu Ziyuan needs no explanation she was just a great fighter and though she wasn’t the best mother to either Wei Ying or Jiang Cheng, she had a heart of steel and did her best to protect her home. Su wasn’t afraid to confront Jin Guangyao about the death of their son and the reveal that their related. Seriously I was fearful for her when she slapped him 😂 I forgot about A-Qing 🥺 she literally risked her SOUL to help Wei Ying and Lan Zhan find and kill Xue-Yang. Truly magnificent ladies 👑 🙇♀️

They were basically saying she was guilty by association. As an high ranking official in wen sect, she had to have had a role in wen clan's misdeeds as per them. They didn't factor in that helping Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian actually counted towards helping the sunshot campaign.

You can see that, Lan Xichen is in the left side when Lan Wang ji stood up to bow in front of Mian Mian. Wei Ying wasn't there . Wei Ying and lan Wang ji was time travelling to the past in order to observe what happened there and to know the truth😊

You can clearly see this 4:15 is lan wangji by his hair...

I'm glad at least Mian Mian or rather Luo Qingyang was able to live a life she was satisfied with. She left her sect after witnessing the sexism, hypocrisy, and twisted politics for their own selfish wants. It was clear nobody wanted to acknowledge that there were innocent Wens and wanted to take over the Wen's place as the strongest. They just needed a scapegoat and they chose Wei Wuxian. At the end of the novel, it's confirmed she has left her sect, became a wandering cultivator, and married with a child of her own. Just like Cangse Sanren and Wei Changze. It's not perfect but Qingyang seems a lot happier than before. Among the tragedies of this story, I'm glad to know at least some characters managed to survive.
I really hate how easily they turned their backs to WX. Without him the Wens could kill/dominate all of the cultivators clans... and he wasn't even killing people aimlessly (yeah, IK the thing in the bridge but if WX wanted to kill everyone he could do it but he just didn't).
What jeallousy does to people. They got played, all of them.
Want to bring someone back to Gusu but I am afraid he will not go. Mian Mian had more balls then the actually men .😏

The desperation in Lan Zhan voice was done so well that I was so satisfied in regards to the lines in the novel. But I wish they had added Lan Xichen gasping because it correlates to their mother's story and it makes Xichen worry bout Wangji's mental situation

i just realized how utterly depressing lan zhan's line "i wish to bring someone to the cloud recesses" is, because before he can, wuxian is killed, and he couldn't save him.
and then i realized that this line reflects how lan zhan refused to NOT take a freshly reincarnated wuxian back to the cloud recessses to do JUST THAT.

He had feelings for him from time Wei Ying was a classmate at cloud recesses at 15yrs old. Theres the incense dream scene where Wei Ying and Lan Zhan go into some dreamland through some incense they inhaled and it took them to each others dreams Lan Zhan dream was when him and Wei Ying was writing the Gusu rules in the library and Wei Ying switched Wangji book to porn and after Wangji told him Piss off and Wei started to leave, he grabs Wei Ying and Lan Zhan roughly has his wicked way with him. Poor Wei Ying😭🤣😜 So that would suggest to me that during that time he had some strong feelings towards Wei Ying. But still over all they went through together before he died, I believe Lan Zhan loved him deeply. He was devastated by his loss. To get drunk and brand himself after being punished by the Lan whip 33 times for trying to protect Wei Ying after Nightless city massacre.

lemme fill it in for you, Lanzhan already finds him attractive since their first meeting, back when WWX planned to skipped out to drank some wine jar, I have this deduction cuz there was a time in the timeskip WWX told LZ how he remember the time their first meeting, then WWX do the little run and LZ followed him with just exact moves like what they do at the beginning, I think LZ find him interesting enough since it's the first time he met someone rascal but having high integrity like WWX, added up WWX always teased him, I think it was love at first sight for LZ also the dork WWX too but they can't recognised it each other XDD

Yes, the genre is bl. The title is modaozushi/grandmaster of demonic cultivation but in the drama and animation(donghua) didn't have much romance scene like in the novel. But they are awesome in every version.
The live action is also called The Untamed. You can watch it on Netflix. It’s pretty subtle in the live action.

Lan Zhan told his brother that he wanted to take someone back and hide them in the clan. Their mother once committed a crime and their father took her back and kept her in the clan as a kind of house arrest "punishment" that was actually for her own protection. Therefore, bringing a "criminal" back to Gusu, which Lan Zhan has mentioned wanting to do to Wei Ying multiple times already, reveals that Lan Zhan has the same intentions as his father did
