I'm 64, have always loved old cars and old car "junkyards" which is a very relative term! When I was a kid exploring a place like this would have been heaven- still is!

Would never be able to run a place like that. I'd try to restore them all and went bankrupt in the process. These were all someone's pride and joy once. Someone was saving money trying to order his dream model in dream trim level and color. And they now just sit neglected, alone and sad. 11:09 - omg a Nash ! They exist ! 14:37 - yay a sexy spiky rocketship in form of a '61 Cad 18:15 - '59 Bonneville flattop ! Someone go love it ! 18:31 - omg a '46-'48 DeSoto coupe ! 21:21 - a '51 Chrysler ! Not many like them visually, but ya know, first Hemi. 26:02 - that's one weird piece of a '59 Ford. Took me a few years to even notice how it's solved. Usually you'd either get a crease on the body or a bumper extension. Here they did 2 in 1 but it still had to be treated with trim piece for the top model to make it more posh.

I had a 59 skyliner and it was bad bad shape in the sixties. came from Michigan and was rusted beyond my own belief. I first saw it in and about when this one was like five years old, and it showed the start of this rust issue but only about three years later, it was at a stage that even now, I doubt I could of fixed it because I was just guessing but using this box on my shoulders... I was seventeen in 66, I got in trouble for fighting as I won my emancipation when I was fifteen, was in front of a judge who was very tired of me in front of him for assault charges, I was fighting like a man on fire, I hit a officer by mistake and was in jail like with a quickness. He was going to send me to adult prison or joint the service so see, thats like being drafted! Meaning that this car, a salmon pink an white retractable was in bad shape in 66! I got the car from "Harvey" who was also in jail for fighting and what not but he was in his twenties at the time and I got this car from his dad because they just wanted it gone, it was too rusty for them then. Orville sold me the car really cheap as it was stuck on the engine as well and the car was only six years old!!!! I am now trying to figure this out better... see I couldn't store this rust bucket as friends were something I had very few of. It was just after I got the engine unstuck and running again, the radiator was just cores standing there. It was already that bad and it got so hot that this engine was heat stuck, it was a bad engine by then, I had to force the top down as I wanted to see it with that top down, but all the motors in the top were too rusty to hold their shape and so I pried that top back up. So in sept., I got the judge already in my sights, meaning I sold this car really cheap with the michigan title in 66 without the time to actually put it in my name even to Lawrence Sopher, I wen to fort bragg in the last part of sept or very first of oct. I never had a chance to find another one when I got home in first part of 70...., so I did buy some more 59's in seventy on, and then got the 64 1/2 in march of 71 but it was from Roseburg oregon. Point is the barely six year old car was that bad that they just junked the car before it was even ten years old Meaning the rust in michigan was terrible back then. See I turned twenty one later in seventy but could drink legal at eighteen in alaska so got a job just before my 21st birthday and just before the fourth of july... so still a kid kinda, I got that job in alaska and went there to have to wait for the forth of july shutdown before going out to camp. It was my first job in alaska but for sure not my last as I came home in the middle of nov., got married in a big hurry to a girl who didn't really know me on the 3rd of december and now it is all clear to me.... I sure wish I had kept that title as I knew that they were junking that car when I sold it meaning the title alone would of still been worth something. WOW.... I should of remembered it better before starting this comment! Old age for me now is kinda tough as I have not spent much time out of alaska since my very first job or being in washington state for a short time waiting for spring breakup. So now dad was born in thirteen, n mom was in twenty one. My step moms were from a good many of different years... some were born in times older and the youngest was right close to my same year, just many years long later on. I'm clear out of my own comfort zone now an not so sure just why, for all of this cept many of folks reading stuff we comment on, will chat me a bit also. I just love a good story of my times an old cars we drove or fixed up. I had forgotten about a car that I so did like to drive/own and watch on the tube. That car your fixing is sixty two years old and so nice looking, mine didn't last as long as its taken in comparison to reading my comment way way too long. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I sure hope to see more of this car your fixing up

Nice job on the paint. Is that the newer epoxy paint, or the type of paint it would gotten at the factory? Darren from Indianapolis
