She’s in bad healthiness is on disability. GOD WILL BLESS YOU BOTH,Pastor and Steve. Thank GOD for kind hearted people like you who help others,and. Are unselfish.
I sure do miss my coal mining job!! I was and still am proud to have worked with such good hearted people who could take whatever they had and fix something. Anything! Steve Harvey never let the big city lights change his values and morals. 💖

I’m also from Welch. I moved away for 30 years and moved back a few years ago. It has changed tremendously-and not for the better. When I was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, there were so many stores and so many more people. Now there’s very little, but still some really nice people.
I was born and spent my first 7 yrs in Welch. My family moved to the big city of Bluefield where we attended the First Presbyterian Church on Rodgers St. until I was 13. We made the big move to Bluefield Virginia where I graduated from Graham High. Love the people from this region. Love Welch. I knew I liked Steve for some reason. Now I know.

What's sad, is your average West Virginian just wants a decent job. These are people that want job that allows them to provide for their families. They don't want to be rich, they just want to be financially sound enough to be comfortable. You haven't seen poor, until you've seen Appalachia poor. They aren't proud to have to take hand outs or even welfare. It's easy to make fun of them for being backward or ignorant, when what they really are, are people that will work hard if just given the chance and paid fairly. I grew up there, and I remember companies from Maryland, Virginia, the Carolinas going out of there way to try and hire people from WV. I asked a guy one time, who was in my area recruiting for a glass manufacturer of memory serves correctly, why he was in WV hiring? He flat out told me it was work ethic. He said they had such success with people who had relocated to there are from WV, for economic reasons, it was worth the added cost to send job recruiters right to the source. That always made me proud in a small way. **Edit: This interaction was 20 years ago, so I have no idea of its the same. Just an experience I had right after graduating high school**
