I know I am old (70), but I would rather have a sharpened edge than a finger choil. At some time in the future if we keep going down this road there will be a blade length of 3.5" with 1.5" of sharpened edge : )
Actually, I love finger choils! They allow for more ways to grip the knife, especially on a smaller one. In my life, I’m really not using my knives in a way where I need a ton of blade, but I’m often doing more precise cuts. I imagine if you’re doing lots of food prep or something where more blade is useful they could be quite annoying though. What a wonderful thing the knife world is as broad as it is, a little something for everyone!
I understand that we are living in a different world now, but I grew up with small slip joint knives like the Case Peanut and we functioned just fine and needed all the blade we could get. Have a great New Year!!@@caidenjones918
@caidenjones918 "old school" up there is thinking like me. You ain't gonna use that choil in a knife fight. You never grip there for that and you never put your thumb against the back of the blade in a knife fight. Same reasons I don't want saw teeth on my blade. Teeth get stuck in bone. Smooth blades don't.

@@8dollars276 because most people aren’t dropping $200+ on a knife. It’s probably like 5% of the people into knives. That is anecdotal though.. but I’d bet money I’m right.

I picked up a purple and black mini dundee from a local knife shop. Really love the flip. The detent makes it feel assisted. Now i have a couple of them and will likely grow it more in 2024.

I got the Watauga before they all sold out earlier this month in black G10 along with the Serene in November. I agree with the Watauga being an amazing knife. And smooth action too!

But what a great knife the Olitans is, I'm blown away by it every time I open it. The blade DOES NOT BUDGE when tightened down, it's ridiculous how great it is!
Any word on when replacement blades will become available on their own from Olitans?

I still haven't bought one (as they've been consistently out of stock) but I've heard lots of good things about Harbor Freight's new Icon pocket knife.
The Miguron Moyarl is probably my favorite surprise of the year, the build and quality is unmatched and it's a fidget beast.
Rosecraft Blades Pocket Monster. I have the “Sully”. Great finger Choil. A Savannah Skaggs design. Great company.
I'll have to shop around some of these manufacturers. I like a lot of these. I am probably unreasonably fussy about the clip being at the pivot point though, and none of these have that feature.
That said, I'm currently using a $20 Smith and Wesson made in china knife so any of these would be a huge improvement.
What about Kizer's new Laconic line in 9Cr18Mov? I've got three knives from that series and all are solid. The Kizer Swedge even runs on multi-row bearings!
I got the sencut bronte and it has alot of blade play. Gonna return it. Is it just mine or is it the knife?
That Olitans I want, its just better than the regular replaceable blade knives, it's an actual knife with awesome different blades

ive had problems with the dundee. i got another under warrenty. the blade kept running into the spacer in the handle, ruining the edge near the tip. the one i got under warranty had the same problem. i dont recommend

I love the Knifecenter variant of the Ekko...its a titanium and Black micarta non contoured handles... RPm9 blade...at $73! crazy... If only they made that exact with a better steel... for a little bit more money! Sigh!

I had to take the Olitans off my buy list once I found out it is a ripoff of the Leatherman Garage. Many knives are similar but the Olitans is a little too close in design for me to not consider it a ripoff.

These are basically all the same knife. Pretty lame that we just get hundreds of "new" 3.5" liner lock folding knives every year and nothing exciting or innovative across the entire industry. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.
Well a liner lock knife is what basic users want affordably we have come along way in quality and heat treatment and materials
Stonewash just plain sucks.
theres different kinds of stone wash and timing, but most really like stonewash for many reasons but to each there own theres a lot of different finishes
