A while back you did a piece with Døvydas talking about what took you both to new levels of guitar and you both said “chord scales” which I had to look up as I hadn’t heard the term. Since then (12 months or so) I have focused on chord scales playing different keys and major and minor scales. Incredibly helpful and creative once the initial slog of learning new fingering is got through. Takes a deal of dedication but worth the effort. Now working on the same model with extended chords and jamming scales. Amazing how this is not more widely talked about. So much more useful, at least to me, than CAGED. Thanks so much for all your efforts.
What I like about Sean lessons. They are short , to the point, I actually learn and try out what he asks. Thanks.
Perhaps the single most important guitar/music lesson anywhere on CZcams
Another stellar lesson Sean! thanks for the putting this together
Such an awesome setup you're using today. That guitar/amp combo looks and sounds great! Thanks for the video 👍
Best CZcams guitar lesson I have seen in a very long time. Congratulations Sean.
Thanks for another great lesson. Very helpful!!
Excellent lesson! Really helped some concepts click for me, thanks!
Keep dropping bangers my guy! Thanks man
Thanks Sean! This is really helpful!
Great video that takes you from theory to making music. Easy enough for a beginner to visually memorize or better yet, understand the theory by reviewing the major scale on the first/bottom 2 strings, the root, 3rd, & 5th notes of that scale, the 6 major & minor notes in any key, and then jazzing up the chord progression with some pentatonic noodling. Sounds like a lot to cover but I'm sure you already know this stuff if you've been a loyal subscriber. Thanks for another outstanding video that connects the dots, SD.
Hey Sean.. thanks again for another great lesson, quick, informative and quite funny. I can’t keep up with all the stuff you teach in all your videos, but that’s the beauty of video right. I’ve used a lot of what I’ve learned in your videos in my songwriting lately, and it has, imho, made my songs sound more interesting. Thanks man 👍🏻👍🏻
@seandanieI23 you’re so welcome… so what would you like to discuss?
That The Smile album is so good! Both of them are outstanding. I do miss Ed’s soundscaping a bit, though. Thanks for the lesson!
Thanks for sharing how to play in any key, great tips for any beginner guitarists wanting to play all over the fretboard
You always take a different, interesting angle on guitar playing. And just when our brows are most deeply furrowed, you blow it up with some crazy joke. Keep doing it, you’re great!
Woot! Thanks for the lesson.👍
This is kinda a double stop lesson. I was practicing these shapes on the high E and the B string.
Up and down the fret board using the major and minor thirds like you explained.
It finally clicked!!!
Always struggled with double stops.
You could probably expand on this lesson into a double stop lesson. A little bit of Rockabilly.
Thanks man for another great video.
bravo..another next level informationits like magic
Thumbs up Sean. You motivate me with your lucid teaching. An idea would be a fretboard diagram to follow you better. Your time is valuable.
I totally agree - I know there's good info here but it's so hard to follow because it's just "here's a thing and then here's another thing and then we apply this and then here's another thing and another thing and another thing".
It's too much too quickly with too little explanation for a lesson.
the song "powers" by boygenius would be a good song to teach this concept with. almost entirely built around these third shapes.
That's a good one.
FINALLY the key of F# makes an appearance! Still waiting for "The Secrets of" video though!
Practice scales by the circle of 5ths, go slowly, say the names of notes out loud as you play, taking careful notice of which notes sharpen or flatten as you go. Rinse, repeat, and before you know it you'll know all your keys. "That'll do pig!"
The "L7 methood" is the easiest way to underdtand how to plsy any key, just find the root on the low e string
Sean you are a great teacher. I want to have a beer with you.
Highest IQ I've seen dealing with comments.
You handle it like Playing 3rds , 5ths, Minor Pentatonics and Arpeggios.
Making Music out Meaninglessness, 😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome Dude
I appreciate it!
A lot to digest here! Saving for repeated viewing!
Your amp and guitar match the new Fender hoodie I just received.
Edit: to be clear, can I use your links to Sweetwater anytime I buy anything or do you only get credit for the specific item like today’s amp?
Yup! Anything! As long as the link takes you to the site, you can navigate from there. I appreciate it!
You answered it at the end, I jumped the gun. =)

WoW
Thank You
Accomplishing aesthetic color match between your cool new guitar and your cool new amp along the way? ((-:
It’s good news but pertinent questions also have to be asked why is there a long succession of failures in this role . Is is really bed recruitment or is the key to the failure the policy set out by the board .
Isn’t that the major pentatonic?
Yeah I was gonna ask that….
not sure what part of the video you're referring to but playing all 7 notes as he is leads to diatonic (i.e., major and natural minor) scale. Pentatonic would have 5 notes (you omit fourth and seventh from major scale to get major pentatonic). C major = C D E F G A B C, C major pentatonic = C D E G A
Negative comments are so distracting for critics. They need to be in silent films in Hollywood in Black and White T.V.😂
Where’s the any key?
Start with the note of whichever key you want and follow this
Where ever you go.... there you are.
AMAZING!!!!! Connecting the dots. Lightbulb moments I've been waiting on for years. Thank you so much
Lmao 🤣 Salty comments.
