Yea, actually I did notice that when I first got the game from my friend. At first I was confused, so I started experimenting with it and found out.

I had that happened to me when I had the game growing up. My jaw dropped in disbelief when my ship was taken out like that and it scared me till this day. It's the music I remember being so dreadful.
Fun Fact: the laugh in the game over screen for Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link was also used in Punch Out!! (NES) when you face Soda Poplinski

The NES game over theme has a special place in my heart. For one, I was exposed to the game when I was a wee little baby back in 03 or 04, the Zora band leader in Majora's Mask shares my name and just so happens to be playing this song on his piano, and it's just a beautiful melody in general.
fun fact: in BOTW, during the stealth mission of the yiga clan hideout, there is a brief dialogue before the game over screens appears.
It's that funny feeling we get when having a goal of beating any Zelda game (or any game in particular) without dying ONCE, you screwed up royally and had to start over. One common example is the first part of the Champion's Ballad with the One-Hit Obliterator challenge and that one shrine "Start and Stop".
But that one time I did not want to die was in the Pirate Stronghold (In Skyward Sword HD's Hero Mode) where a Beamos got me while trying to Perfect Shield the beam back. 😣💢

Nah, I totally get it. It always stuck with me that, unlike in almost every game with a few exceptions, someone actually reacts to the Game Over scenario with text, as Linebeck cries out "W-w-we're going down!" when the ship starts sinking.
