First blood for the new boat | Sounder settings for finding spots that produce quality fish

- In this episode I finally get the new little boat offshore to catch a feed of fish and also show the importance of setting your sounder up with a simple setting that allows you to find and see small isolated reefs that produce quality fish. I also drop the underwater drone down to the bottom to compare this with sounder images on the same spot. Fish caught and seen were Pearl Perch, venus and black spot tuskfish, moses perch, green jobfish, morwong aka slatey bream, gold spot cod, sharks and more. Sounder used is a furuno FCV-800 and Furuno TZ3 with furuno side scan.

The sound of that aluminium boat slap would be hard on anybody's wellbeing.
Cool story. It's foam filled so very quiet in the water.
Brilliant video again Greg and thanks for taking the time and sharing the information about using the sounder .

Cheers mate
Lovely Ep and fish and tips
Thanks legend I hope you're well.
Another cracking video mate! Always pick up a few tips and tricks to try. Sharks are beyond a joke now offshore Fraser. Even got smashed up and followed around by a 3m bully in close 10-12m the other week which has never happened before. We did notice being the only boat out one day that we got left alone. More boats seems to mean more sharks i think.
Thanks mate glad you liked it. Yeah the shark issue is out of control and becomes so frustrating. Not sure we will ever see a solution unfortunately.
@@gregswickedfishing 12g power heads and let the Indo's down for a year or 2....
Thankyou Greg for a great video. Learnt some more with awesome tips. I run 40m range 70- 80m i will definitely tighten it up in the future. I'm running fcv625 i asume same principle. I know its older. Boat looks great too.👍
Thanks mate glad you got something out of it. Yes same principle mate. Enjoy
👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽best video yet
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it
Goood one there fella, great tips on range n shift
Thanks mate glad you liked it. Cheers
We've got the same problem in tassie...only it's the seals.
Crazy mate they certainly learn from human behavior.
Cool episode mate with some awesome tips thrown in.
Those sharks hey, what a situation 🤦♂️
Thanks Steveo, it's a total situation alright. Not within specs one little bit lol.
thanks Greg, one of your best videos methinks - tips, tricks. underwater footage, topside camera work, etc.
QUESTION PLZ ... were you using standard dropper loops on the paternoster rig ???
PS: Little Ripper looks great (my CC625 Explorer is "Uripper" :))
Thanks mate I'm glad you liked it. Yes using standard dropper loops mate. Nice boat name I like that one too. Maybe my next one lol
I know when your making a you tube video it's not an option but I use an electric to beat shark's when fishing spot's i know hold demersals.. i don't give a crap what people say.. it's still fun.. and you can go back to traditional approach with a jig on the way home at some wreck once the esky is looking 👍 .. better to waste trevally and AJs then quality bottom fish
Hey mate yeah unfortunately we've used electrics on demersals in the past and the sharks still smash the bigger fish then we have an issue of fighting big sharks on heavy gear on the electrics which is a nightmare. Some of the smaller fish you can get away with it but.
@gregswickedfishing that's good info.. it's great your getting results in your local area as well.. I am lucky in that I live at Yeppoon but with the price of diesel and petrol these days trips up here from brizzy would be ridiculously expensive.. and given those bar cod and pearlies you got off brizzy who's complaining 😀
Hey Greg what transducer were you running this perticular day?
Mate I using a combination of the TM185m and TM165hw
👍👍 Another great video mate. How inquisitive are those pearl perch? Certainly not scared of the. Tripod camera.
thanks mate much appreciated. Haha yeah they love the tripod camera hey. The drone not so much but they don't get no where near as scared as other fish.
When you were showing the images at 21mins what was the transducer you were using, the 600w or 1kw?
That was the 600w TM165hw transducer mate.
Is it true that if you bang stik a shark and leave it on site other sharks stay away.
Apparently mate but never tried it lol.
Hey mate. Any reason you don't target the sharks?
Can't keep them over 1.5m so no point
All the sharks we encounter are big and of no use to us. We can't keep them over 1.5mtrs either. If you want a bit of sport then I guess you could but not something i'd want to do much off.
@@nickolaswoolston8643 . Not sure I understand your point. That like saying you cant keep Spanish Mackerel under 75cm, so what is the point? I have targeted Shark and caught them under 1.5 meters. The others I have thrown back.
What transducer are you running in 50 m of water?
depends what I'm chasing but in that depth im mostly using the 1kw TM185m
Small boat
Really hope someone from QLD fisheries sees this video. Sharks are out of bloody control - but spanish mackerel have a population issue apparently 🤬
Soooooo frustrating and will only get worse unfortunately
Yer bud Hervey Bay is out of control as well sharks everywhere they keep pinching my bait last trip
Those endangered sharks.
They have been bad for years
They are bad here atm hey !
yeah mate its out of control hey. So frustrating.
😂your lucky your not on the west coast..we travel 80km offshore to fish in 50m and then we can only catch 2 demersal each with a boat limit of 4 fish but that's only when the season is open half the year, mostly in the bad weather months.
That’s why we got so many meth heads here. Gov won’t let you catch your own food anymore but give our hard earned $$ to bludgers
mate I feel you guys. What's happened over there is criminal and crushing the boating and fishing industry. I still can't believe it happened.
