The Mayor of Ibiza officially recognized the Vengaboys for helping more people discover the magical Island of Ibiza.
Back in 1999, with “Boom Boom Boom Boom!!” still ruling the world wide charts the Vengaboys decided to drop this feel good summer tune. The result was like a dream come true. “We're Going To Ibiza!” is one of the Vengaboys all time Greatest Hits. It went straight to number one in the U.K. and around the World.
Fast forward to 2019 when ‘We’re Going To Ibiza!’ burst back into the charts and became a #1 hit in Austria. Why, you might you ask. Well, protestors in Austria adopted the track as their anthem following the scandal that brought down the far-right government in the country.
Media world wide reported on the scandal and the role of the Vengaboys’ banger in ibiza gate Vengaboys were even invited to a celebration rally in Vienna… So the Vengabus went where they were needed, spreading love and laughter. They performed for tens of thousands of people on a crowded square in Vienna with people climbing lampposts, traffic signs and trees just to get a glimpse.
On June 28, 2019, the band released a new EP: Unplugged #1’s featuring the acoustic version of “We’re Going to Ibiza!” along with a brand new video.

I was just a little child with 6 years in the middle of El Salvador driving along with my dad on his car listening to this song. The years passed and I never again heard this song neither on the radio or tv, but the chorus has been stuck in my head for 19 yars sounding like "hey yo quiero una pizza" walking on my brain cells bringing me sleepless nights all over the years. Till this day, this day all changed and I finally found the song. I miss my dad.

Except the oligarch doesn't have any niece. So it showed potentially sketch relationships between Austrian far-right parties and Russia.

I remember my mum cooking her own pizza and we played this for hours in the making of the pizza, and when we ate it because when i was 3 thats what i sung! Vengaboys didn’t write this - the original (called Barbados) was written by Typically Tropical - a UK number 1 hit in 1975. The Vengaboys song is a v good adaptation.

Whenever I hear music from this time 1999/2000, my heart starts racing and somehow my state of mind is transformed to the person I was then. The feeling is bittersweet because it gives me a snapshot of the bliss I was in at the time, but also reminds me how far away I'm from feeling that way ever again. Will life ever be as magical as that? I don't know if thats possible...but I still have hope.
I do try to avoid listening to nostalgic music like this becuase if I listen to them for too often, the memories and feeling they carry will slowly fed away, and that one day I might forget what that felt like.
