Fort Myers Beach area was devastated by Hurricane Ian in September 2022. During our RV travels we stayed in Fort Myers Beach in March 2023 and got to see Ft Myers Beach after Hurricane Ian. We got you covered for what to do in in Fort Myers Florida area including Sanibel Island & Captive Island and what’s open now! We love supporting the come back for the Fort Myers Beach area and glad we got to spend time there during our Full Time RV Life!

Hi, seeing this video brings back so many memories. I commented on another one of your videos that I am from the Ft. Myers area however, now live in Texas. You were pointed in the right direction for many of the restaurants. The challenge is that many others that I would recommend are still rebuilding or not going to reopen. Of course, going to Fleamasters brings back many memories. I can remember when they opened.

We ate at Snug Harbor when we were there. It’s sad how many places are still closed after the hurricane, but it looks like y’all found enough open places to have a good time. I’d love the flea market to get all the things we don’t need. 😂. We were at a coffee shop with swings when in Florida. Love it. Looks like fun and delicious.

We have stayed on Sanibel Island many times. We go to the grocery store and buy 2 LB fresh shrimp to cook at the room. Can't be beat. Thank you for showing the area.
Okay- that sounds amazing!! Joel makes a good butter and garlic sauce & we love shrimp! Trader Joe’s used to having the best lemon pasta we would mix shrimp in with too- but they stopped selling it. We will have to remember that next time. Thanks! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
You have to visit Wahoo Willie’s. One of my favorites on Fort Myers Beach.

Thanks for the video. On your next trip check out Bonita Bills (Right next to Dixie Fish) and Hurricane TIna's 5 Star Dive Bar on San Carlos Blvd. Parrot Key on Main St. and one more would be Bayside Bar and Grill on San Carlos Blvd. THANKS again and safe travels!

OMG! Finding your video is so right on time. Ft Meyers Beach is my favorite beach. I’ve been in complete depression since the hurricane. Really have mixed feelings about seeing it again!!!!

Love the suggestions. We're headed to FL next winter. We've made reservations at some of the state parks for dec and January so far. I can't believe we've never been to Captiva, will have to remedy that next winter. Lighthouse is also on our list now as well. Swingers bar?!?! LOL That looks like fun too. Love all the happy hours. Good to see that things are coming along for the people of the area.

I grew up there and it was a blast at night.
We didn’t go out at night- we are past that point in our life’s 🤣 We would guess there would still be a few open!

I hope that beach is leveled and the STATE manages the beach / shoreline so that the developers CANNOT build on the beach!! This area was a NATURAL BEAUTY a few decades ago. 🌴🐊

@@ChasingOurSunshine thank y'all! The Everglades and SW Florida is home. I've walked this beach on many evenings when it would be myself and a date. (sometimes a few others) .. just imagine! And looking to the right (from the pier) that area on NW part of beach was only palms and sand! I knew the developer of Lani Kai and remember prior to it being there. 😯 Now with Jimmy's monster property being built it's kinda sad 😪 Nice video btw!

I thought this was about Fort Myers Beach. Most of the places mention are in Fort Myers and not on the island at all.

Which one would you say is the most kid friendly?
Yikes- this is a tough question for us as we don't have kids. We don't recall seeing kids at any of them. However, we weren't looking for them either. We would say the Flee Market and beach would be a blast for kids & eating at The Dixie Fish Co. Sorry, we can't be more helpful with your question- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
@@ChasingOurSunshine No worries! We have been to the Dixie Fish company pre Ian with the kiddos and the dog, lol. I was just looking for a place to go to for Mother's day. The place in Captiva looks great for apps and cocktails. I need to try the Bimini bait shack as someone else recommended it. When you all are back, you should try any Pincher's that is by the water. We go to the Pincher's in Naples a lot and for a chain it's fine (kids eat free, good HH, and the location is great! :)
