  • Following last week’s episode • Logic Pro X: Introduct... introducing the concepts of Subtractive Synthesis, this week, I’m going to develop our understanding of this topic by switching from Logic’s most basic instrument, the ES M, to its next most basic instrument, the ES P! ‘P’ stands for polyphonic, so the first up-tick in capability is that we can now play chords. But this instrument also allows for a blend of a wider range of Oscillators, introduces LFOs and offers a greater range of possibilities at the Envelope stage. All of these features combine to provide more sonic possibilities; even in a synth this basic, we can make Bass and Pad sounds from scratch. Oh and helicopters too. Lastly, we’ll see how the Olympic Rings are a useful aide-memoire when looking at more sophisticated instruments, like Retro Synth.
