Thanks for the video. As soon as the 2024 iPad Pro series was announced, I hit the Apple Store and bought a refurbished M1 11” Pro for a huge discount. Got the 256GB model for $619… a great deal and almost $400 less than the new model. Of COURSE the M4 chip is MUCH faster and the new OLED screens are MUCH better, but for my use those don’t matter much and I’d rather save the money. The new landscape camera is cool, but I’m using an external camera on my desktop for meetings - so again, a neat upgrade that doesn’t matter all that much for my tablet use. Also, the new Pencil Pro has features I don’t need or want, so taking advantage of retailers dropping the Pencil 2 price to $79 for another $50 savings. Coming from the original 9.7” iPad Pro, this will be a HUGE upgrade in every way and I’m excited to take advantage of the price drop opportunity!
I’m thinking of replacing my old 2015 12.9” iPad Pro with a refurb M1 12.9” iPad Pro. Will still be an awesome upgrade to promotion, mini-LED and I don’t want to lose the awesome quad speaker sound! The new 13” iPad Air looks cool but is essentially the same as my Pro from 2015…
@@bobdrums sounds like a great option if you’re sticking to the 12.9” model. For those of us who’ve been using older tech, upgrading to the M1 chipset and models is a huge performance boost and can take advantage of the key iOS features introduced recently.
Hey I had done the same thing $619 was hard to say no to. Going from iPad Air 4 (Which is still great but with this price it was a no brainer)
M4 chip is faster but that's not the point, the M1 is still one of the fastest mobile chips on the market (still faster than the one on the iphone 15 Pro and faster than Qualcomm counterparts) and it's still limited in its potential because of the castrated software, so if you consider that a M1 is still "wasted" in iPad Pros in 2024 you can figure how pointless is pumping up with a M4 on an iPad with thay software.
Long story short, you did the best thing, especially considering the price increase.
Maan here in India apple products are very expensive but this m1 ipad pro costs just $570 brand new ❤
To my surprise, my M1 iPad Pro is still very very good despite being 3 years old.
Idk if it’s cause of the M series chips, apple trying to prolong the longevity of their products (which I feel is more common in last couple years), or both.
So while I prob wouldn’t recommend someone to buy an M1 iPad Pro in 2024, I do think those who got one in 2021 will be happy for a few more years
Just bought a used 11" M1 256gb with cellular. I used to own a 2nd gen 12.9 Pro like 4 years ago but hated the size. Can't believe how cheap it was. The hardware was never the issue with the Pro but the software was and still is the most limiting factor of these devices. They could put an M4 Ultra in this thing and it still wouldn't matter.
my thoughts exactly, im looking for ipad instead of getting a drawing pad for work and i have a macbook so it doesnt matter getting an m4 ipad since software still limits it, if they act like macbook then i wouldnt have bought it lol.
I just bought one off of eBay 11 inch 1TB cellular for $700 with 3 months of AppleCare still left on it. It has a 3 mm scratch, half of it on the bezel. I'm surprised the price has come down this much.

Easily breezes through everything except JUST 1 thing and that is, the AAA games that apple is bringing like assasins creed and resident evil. If you don't care about those games, It's a steal! Insane ipad even in lets say 2026
