I cannot believe the hate that's going on about a beautiful film of a girls experience. She was 13 years old when she had her arm bit of. She was not stupid she grew up surfing and was used to the environment of the ocean . the shark attack happend while on a routine morning surf that she did everyday nothing out of the ordinary for her. Until one day unexpectantly the shark bites off her arm. That does not make her stupid for doing what she normally does. Bethany has confirmed that she loves sharks and that they are beautiful creatures and she has also confirmed that she would not go back to that day and change it since it has inspires others who have lost limbs to never give up. And as for the christian references she's a Christian and there was no way that she was going to leave that out as it was one of the main things that helped her get better again if you don't like that then don't watch the movie and trash talk about it.

I have suffered form heart problems, that almost stopped me from MTB racing. After reading Bethany's story, I got cleared to race. She's an inspiration for all.

Not quite as spirited or graceful when compared to the exorbitant number of similar cases that resulted in a painful and elongated death.
I haven't been to the movie theater in a long time. This movie brought me back! The photography was awesome, especially the underwater shots. The director gets an A+. The camera work carried the emotion very well. I loved this movie!!
I just saw this movie..... I expected it to be good.... but I did not expect it to be THAT good! It was such an amazing story of bravery and determination. Bethany Hamilton is a huge inspiration! To have the guts to back in the water after something like that? Unreal. and what makes it better is that you see the home movies of her doing all the things from the movie... I think it is absolutely fantastic and EVERYONE should see this!
This is a movie that make you cry and put a new effort into your living. I just watched it and i want to watch it all over again. It makes you think about your thinking of your life. In any way your life is beautiful and i believe after that movie you will love it too.

I already know that I'm going to cry at this movie, since all the times that I have watched the trailer tears started welling up in my eyes. Haven't seen this movie before, but I'm the kind of person who will get a movie and watch it and instantly love it. As long as it has someone I know in it, like AnnaSophia Robb. I am not picky when it comes to watching movies.
I am watching this movie for my Birthday party, and I can't wait! Bethany Hamilton's story is so inspiring, and I love to hear the real Bethany talk about how her faith in God carried her through.

I cried so bad when I saw this movie. She's just so amazing and inspiring! My best friend almost lost her life in a traffic accident, and after she saw this movie.. well lets just say that it really changed her life. I think she googled Bethany for at least two or three hours afterward. Beautiful movie and story!

My daughter ask me 2 wtch this movie. this girl and this family wer so strong. they believed that thru Christ they wud overcome this and they did ... she did!! This movie meant a lot to us bcs my daughter is facing an upcoming amputation of part of her right leg... its been difficult to even think about it but this kid... her arm was just taken ... she pulled herself together and she went on to do every thing she wanted to do ... all i can say is thk u Bethany Hamilton for sharing your story!

The trailer is reminiscent of my life- I suffered a trauma in Peru at 4.5 and slipped into a 3-week coma. Once I woke up, I had to rush back to SF, and take therapy for 2 years at UCSF. Funny how sometimes we take things for granted due to what we've been taught at a young age!
Hey everyone. I have a question, I know this movie is about Bethany Hamilton the surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack. I know who she is, she made a cameo appearance in Dolphin Tale 2. If anyone who has seen this movie, how bad is the shark attack scene is??? I haven't seen this movie but I'm thinking of getting it soon. I've saw the trailer for the film and the shark attack scene looks pretty intense. so please comment if anyone knows, much appreciated.

Just watched this movie for the first time the other day. All I can say is. this is one of the few movies that I have watched that has left me with that amazing feeling of "WoW! that was an incredible movie, I don't even want to watch any other movie again because I am still in awe of what I just watched."

Regardless of the way the film oversimplify the struggle of Hamilton family and character development of Bethany, this is a great storytelling. That is no matter what happens in your life you gotta have each other to hold on to, believe that you have greatness inside you, and the whole world is strenghtened by the faith that binds everything together.
Simple, but great film.

Today I got sad and I cried too because today was my first time watching Soul Surfer. I really cried during this movie because it's about her arm getting bit off by a shark but she NEVER gives up. Right now I really really love this movie because it's very inspirational to me because this movie teaches you to NEVER give up in life and follow your dreams, no matter how bad things get. And this movie tells me to do same and NEVER give up in life. I really really love this movie now.

Just finished watching this film and I am struck for words. It is such an inspirational story and just overall amazing. It is one of very few films that make you step back for a moment ans really appreciate what you have. It has really inspired me to take life on at full force and that nothing is impossible.

Same thing happened with an Australian Navy diver, a bull shark took his arm and leg. But guess what he's fitter and more able than I am, running 5km a day and bench pressing 140kg. Guess it's not what your not or what you don't have but what you make out of it that makes you legendary. Kudos to these people!
I know that people won't care about this, but I have been suicidal for the past four years. On the day when I wanted to end it all, when I was 100 percent sure I was going to, this movie came on and I decided to watch it. After I watched it, especially the ending credits, I fell in love with the movie and I realized that suicide isn't the answer. So anytime I feel suicidal, I put this movie on and those thoughts go away. God, I would love to meet her. She's a beautiful human being.
Bethany Hamilton is so very inspirational. I have such enormous respect for her.
MOVIE:, Bethany needed help tying her hair, she felt self-conscious of what she looked like with only 1 arm, she said "I don't need easy, I just need possible," she visited Thailand, she won 5th at Nationals, she was determined to surf again. That's EXACTLY what happened to the real Bethany, as well. The film incorporated Melina as a rivalry probably to show how determined, brave, and strong Bethany is even with one arm. She is still able to be just as good as or even better than her enemy.
Love this movie forever and ever. Bethany you are a TRUE inspiration. I got this movie for my birthday after seeing it several times. I cry every single time. I also own every single book there is on her!!! LOVE U FOREVER BETHANY!!!!!!!

I you had the most passion possible for something you loved, would you just give it up? I didn't think so. She had the greatest passion for surfing, so she never gave up and her faith never waivered. Bethany will always be one of the most inspirational people, and you can't change that.
''Soul Surfer'' is actually interesting! I'm glad that even though Bethany lost an arm, she's still surfing again today. This movie inspires you to keep doing a thing you love even though something tries to get in your way.

Just watched the movie. MAN it made me cry! Such a good movie with a real meaningful message. I recommend watching it. The movie def. has soul!
This movie was SO good, it's such an inspirational story! AnnaSophia Robb did such a good job, I loved her reaction after she got bit by the shark. In real life, that reaction would be so rare. I don't get why they had to give Carrie Underwood that role though, she didn't make that much of an impact and anyone could have done it.

It was 10 years ago yesterday this happened and Bethany continues to surf, be the amazing and inspirational person that she is, and is now married
It's not stupidity if you're doing something you love! The point is not that you had your arm bitten off, it's that you keep on doing what you have passion for and not let anything stand in your way. p.s. Bethany is still one of the most inspirational people ever!

The movie is beautiful and I just was hoping for some more thank-you's to the emergency team that saved her life. I do believe that she had the drive to live and i also believe that there was a team that helped with the entire process. Bless you Bethany and Bless the team that helped in your survival!

Saw this today. It is such an inspirational movie. Anna did an incredible job with this movie. Bethany Hamilton is such a strong/brave person.
I don't know if the actress that played Melina was either acting bad, or acting the actual Melina attitude,
but even at the end when she tried to suck up to Bethany it was beyond horrible.
The actress made herself even look worse in acting that part, or made the real Melina look horrible in acting that way. The last part only made Melina look like a suck up to get publicity or people haters off her back, or the actress just delivered that line horribly.
Personally if I met that Melina in person, I wouldn't even bat an eye and keep walking, but if that was the actress fault that made Melina look that way and she's a totally different person, .....way to go casting director!
The rest of the movie was awesome.
my god - i just cried. this is one powerful trailer - the film will be incredibly powerful. we always want to protect our kids. we shudder at the thought of this sort of thing happening. but when it does - what could be more magnificent then a triumph - like this. siiiiigh. wow.

However I also believe with all my heart that God wants us to have a sense of humor and laugh at ourselves. I am a guy who like movie like "Marci X", "The Frisco Kid" and "Mamma Mia!". However, because of Helen Hunt's presence, I like this movie too! In my mind, Helen is as close to perfect as humanly possible!
