I've had budgies all my life. My budgies average life spans are 10+ years. Couple of years back I started with one male, bought him a partner and they had 3 babies. His eldest died 2 years ago and his wife died last year. He still has his two offspring both are around 8 years now. I believe his about 11 or 12 now. He used to be pretty chatty but after losing his friend he got a tad bit more solemn.
I would probably buy a different species of parakeet in the future but budgies will always hold a special place in my heart.

Yeah I had a parakeet die and I got a new one and they were fine, then we had 7 budgies but my mom got rid of 5 and they never really being chatty or as friendly again. I feel bad for them.

So, I am a Budgie lover for years, I got my own ones 4 years ago, 2 in fact. after that I got 2 different ones, all four made more so I got 7 in total, one died of going-light and one flew away, but what I wanted to ask is how to approach a budgie in a swarm the right way if he's sick. At the beginning they where all tamed, I took care of the four bought budgies and they let me pet them and everything. Even when I checked the babies they didn't mind and yes I bought a incubator for them and the moms didn't mind if I checked on the babies either. Even when I had the babies with me to check their weight the mom's came over to feed them. After the babies where old enough they still hang out with me and would nibble on my fingers and stuff but since I took one of them to the vet because of the going-light-syndrome they distrust me. I get the consept, but I don't know how I could rebuild the trust. All of them fly trough my room 24/7 because I don't close the cage, they have special spots to sit on and everything. Do you have any ideas how I could get their trust back? If you mentioned this on the video I didn't noticed, the I tried it with millet everyday but they are still very shy now.I'm deaf you see, so I'm sorry in advice.^^ I love your videos btw!

    Hello. :)
Out of curiosity, did you ever come to realize that your yellow bird is likely a male pied mutation?
Unless you had a gender blood test, true male pied mutations have pink ceres, non-true male pieds might remain pink, but depending on their genetics they still could get a usual male blue cere. It's interesting, because male pied mutations will normally always keep their pink ceres their entire life, it won't ever turn blue when they get older. You should check out some research on the colors of pied mutation ceres. :)
In general what I have come to learn of with budgie cere colors, is that Male ceres are pink, purple, or royal blue. Female ceres are white, light blue, beige, tan, or brown.
It has become a common misunderstanding that pink is female and blue is male, but that's not so true. White and light blue are female, royal blue is male, and a pink color normally belongs to unique mutations, such as pied mutations.
I own two male pieds, they are so wonderful. I hope you have a fascinating day with your birds! :D

hi I wanned to share some info i got from my budgie's vet: before adding a new bird to the cage, it has to be in a quarantine, for they all have their natural parasites in their bodys, and once they make mouth contact they share those parasites, and if they dont have those 40 days they might get sick with a new parasite... one natural parasite wont match the others body and can become a bacterial disease. My budgie had to take antibacterial meds for 7 days after i bought a new adult budgie and just added him inside the cage...she was vomiting her food shaking her head, the seeds flew away without being digested... my fault but they are ok now. Just take notes. Thanks for your videos. I've learned a lot!

I got a budgie from pet smart it is healthy and mature but it’s was for sure not hand tamed. It been with me for a week and it’s definitely starting to get used to my home. It also started eating from my hand now but it still refuse to get on my hand. My only question is will my budgie ever learn to talk? She is alone at the moment but she used to be with 6 budgies in the cage before I got her.

I like the shirt designs. My budgie had a bright yellow head bright green body, and a tail that went from blue-green at his rump all the way down to a very dark navy blue at the very bottom of his tail and his tail was very long! Is there any chance you could make designs that Encompass budgies that look like that?

Hi everyone! I have a question, if I were to get 2 budgies so they can keep each other entertained and happy, what would happen if 1 were to die? What would happen to the other? Would I need to purchase another 1?

It would become depressed and i am not sure if buying another would help but it would be worth trying.

I’m not sure if I’m ready to get one. I have watched all your videos and I know all the basics of how to properly take care of a budgie

Parakeets usually wake up at 10 am. They'll wait for 3-5 hours, but If it's more you should get two budgies.
leave toys and music for birds if you can afford only one bird, so it will feel less lonely.

I don’t know whether to get 2 budgies. I want to get 1 at first during the summer, then, after a while when school starts, I want to get another so that they can interact while I’m at school for 8 hours. But I kind of only want 1.My mom will be home, so she might be able to interact with it. but I don’t know if she’ll play with it correctly. I’ll try and teach her to do this correctly but I’m wondering if my budgie will be fine on it’s own for that long, I’ll have toys and perches, and I’ll refill it’s water and food and talk to it as much as I can before I go to school. When I come back I’ll play with it as much as I can and let it out to interact with it as I do my homework. I hope that this can make up for the time I spend away but if it can’t I will consider getting another one.
Another problem I have is vacations. Every couple years, we usually take a two month trip to my grandma who lives in Europe. My parents won’t let me take the bird with me, and boarding is too expensive, so I’ve decided that I can give the bird to a friend for this time. Even though I don’t even have the bird yet, I’m very anxious about leaving my bird with another person. I will make sure to leave lots of instructions on how to take care of it and let it get used to you and such, but I’m scared the person might not have time to play with the bird as much as I want them too. I feel like I’m being way too paranoid about stuff like this. I’m sure the person will try as well as they can, but I can’t really help it.Any tips on this stuff as well?
