“I may be dirt, but you're the one who likes to roll in it, Slayer.” Spike was so classic! 😊
Spike was an intelligent analysis of females and how they naturally fraternize with what they say they hate or call enemies.
Hilarious character. Great concept that the foretold female vampire slayer gets slayed by multiple vampires. Heh.
I loved his character (Spike) so much on Buffy and I wasn’t even aware of why, but subconsciously I must have realized/ picked up on the fact that he is theatrically trained. But the more I learn about the actor behind the character the more I see James in Spike, but also the more I respect James, he’s truly inspirational. When no one believed in him he kept at it, he spoke his truth when no one wanted to hear it. And in the end he succeeded.

One thing I really appreciate about James Marsters is when he narrates an audiobook, he doesn't give the female characters ridiculous voices like a surprising number of men who read audiobooks do.
You'd almost think he didn't used to n0nce (on poor Michelle Trachtenberg_

Marsters is hands down the best audiobook reader. Dresden Files is epic!
He's certainly up there with Simon Vance, Richard Easton, and Michael Kramer/Kate Reading. Love his work on Dresden as well!
Awesome, he was definitely the best character on Buffy
I think the reason why the Buffy musical episode worked while other shows didn’t was because the random musical numbers were able to be worked into the plot. There’s a magical demon explanation for why everyone is suddenly breaking out into song, so even though it’s ridiculous it still makes sense in that universe. It’s something you could only pull off in that kind of modern fantasy setting.
It also wasn't a throwaway episode, it moved the season story arc forward, and there were huge repercussions to all of the characters.
Spike was my favorite character on Buffy. I don't know how many times I've watched the musical episode. Spike's song was the best.
Yeeeeees
James Marsters has the most infectious laugh ever. I had no idea.
Me yelling at the screen for 10 minutes "BOOKKEEPER!" lol. Fantastic episode, great guest!
I seriously thought it was boomerang at first.
I learned this "riddle" from an Encyclopedia Brown years ago. But come on, McKenzie Grammar, a bookkeeper is not another word for a librarian. It's more of an accountant.
Me too.
I had already heard thet riddle before. Despite that, I still couldn't figure it out, until the 'starts with a B.'
@@lemon98TV You think a young LA girl knows that? lol
Absolutely fangirling, this is a dream trio
agreed. they are a lovely bunch of gents!
I only know James Marsters from his incredible voice work on the Dresden Files. It's cool to learn about the rest of his career.
Ah Buffy’s best asset and my favorite Hobbits. It’s a good day.
Dom quietly whispering "get a room" as Billy and James compliment each other completely sent me
A bookkeeper keeps financial records, closer to an accountant than a librarian…i was shouting in the middle of the second riddle 😂 anyways love James and of course Spike. I wish they sang something together, or talked about James’ British accent. Thanks for having him as a guest.
Also, does a factoid question like that count as a riddle? Surely it's just a question 😅
I've just binge watched this show episode 1 to now in four days. Worth it.
Oh look, it’s my first three childhood crushes in one setting
Two of my crushes are together! However, I'm dying at James and Billy hating the lima beans, and Dom saying, "They're all right..." and munching away!
so bloody lucky JAMES MARSTERS is awesome and has aged incredibly well and SPIKE is my favorite character in BUFFY (the tv series)
James' laugh brings me such joy...
Thank you always, beautiful souls! Xx
james does NOT get enough credit for his voice acting on dragon ball super - zamasu was one of the best characters in the entire series
I cant get over how good billy is at riddles
Okay, my head just exploded seeing this. LOST and BUFFY are my 1st and 2nd all time favorite shows. I've watched both through probably 20 times! Worlds colliding🤯🤯🤯
Another great episode. The thing I enjoyed the most was his laugh 😂
i liked james marsters as an actor when i watched buffy, and now i like him even better as a person, thanks for having him on the podcast. (i also don't eat lima beans!)
I only know James as the narrator for The Dresden Files. He will always be the voice of Harry Dresden for me!!!
Yes yes yes
I was going to watch/listen to these in order, but as soon as I saw the name James Marsters, my fangirling got the better of me. 4 episodes to go to catch up, but screw it. I'm watching this tonight.
OMG, thanks for this video! I watched James in Buffy and he was the only reason why I actually did it. He is such a talented actor, the best in this series. And his character always brings me joy, without him all this simply would not be interesting for me.
Me too!
I love James. Spike was by far my favoite charactor on Buffy. I am so excited that he is on the show. Love hearing stories, and learning more about people. I was also yelling Bookkeeper at you guys. I can't believe i got it before you.
The sun light beam on James's head makes me think that Billy wanted to see if James would catch on fire or turn to ash.
Wow, what a surprise combination of people from two forever epic series 👌
The sound of James‘ laughter always makes me smiling. And this show makes me smile until my cheeks burn and more!
I didn’t know lima beans before - after all, they provide entertainment! 😏
Really enjoyed the show and will watch the next one tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing! Bye bye 👋 Katie
Great interview Dom and Billy, I always love to see James Marsters. He's really a funny guy.
James Marsters making Spike Epic👏👏💖💖He is so awesome in everything 💖Thanks again for an awesome interview 👏💖
Was waiting for the episode. Dom and Billy are friendship goals! Big fan of both of you
Omg bookkeeper I’m dying 😂 she almost had to say the whole word first!!
So happy to see Billy and Dom on The Friendship Onion, I'm always happy to see them 🙂😁.
I love them ❤️
Happy Tuesday
Seeing James Marsters on this show made me SO HAPPY! I’m such a fan of his work with the Dresden Files
Oh my God, this podcast/CZcams channel gets better and better. Dom and Billy AND James Marsters?! This is the Christmas present I didn't even know I needed!
I love when Dom says would you say leema or Lima and Billy says I'd say Lima and Dom says well you haven't been and the laughter from Billy and Dom is so infectious. I rewatched way too many times 😁
Dom casually looking for backup before he makes fun of Billy’s pronunciation 😂 that bit got me too!
The farthest James has been for a con is NZ! lol Though probably very easily forgotten because it was a tiny Buffy con 20 years ago with Brian Thompson and Emma Caulfield and a bunch of rabid Scoobies. I remember they teased the musical episode, which he was brilliant in. He was awesome and Spike immediately became my favourite character, I already liked Spike, James made me LOVE Spike.
australia is further from california than NZ is :)
@@moonstone___ That's a really good point and you are obviously 100% correct! I suppose I was thinking from a flight time perspective and the 1 time I flew to the US (many moons ago)I had to wait in Sydney for a couple of hours. Air New Zealand has direct flights to LA but I couldn't afford them lol. I also didn't take into consideration my own skewed view of only flying the other direction (via Asia/Middle East). Thanks for the geography lesson moonstone 😃✈🗺🌏
I never watched buffy nor did I know who James was but this turned out to be one of my favorite episodes. Cheers
“Scrubs” had a great musical episode; arguably one of the best!
I just discovered how many times I can yell, "BOOKKEEPER!" at my phone
Happy there's going to be a part 2, great episode
Another delightful episode
'Once more, with feeling' is THE musical episode!
This was wonderful! The Lord of fantasty films and one of the greatest TV shows in one podcast! For the people not familiar with "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" I suggest to watch some of the episodes (cause they really are among the greatest of TV episodes). Like "Innocence" and "Becoming Part 1&2" from season 2, and "Earshot" and "The Wish" (S3), "Hush" (S4), "The Body" (S5) and the musical one they mentioned "Once More With Feeling" from Season 6.
three of my favourite people all together, what a treat! thank you guys 😙
Where else can I laugh hysterically about lima beans? Love your show, Billy and Dom! Still want to challenge Dom to a belching contest...wish he'd take me up on it. I have a good chance of winning.
this poscast is hilarious! I’m hooked ❤
Delightfull!! The three of you together are simply perfect!
Love Tuesdays with my favoritt guys. This was another fantastic episode. Looking forward to next week alredy.
1:15:29 - "Bean pie? Are you mental?" "Yes!"
Incredible
thank you for the lovely episode 🥰
Great to relax and Watch you guys talk. I have exams this week so its Nice to not Think about Them. 💛😄
Awesome! My day just got better.
Looking at Dom's face at the beginning, I could feel that "get a room" coming 😂
My dog was wondering why I was randomly yelling "bookkeeper" at the screen, that was painful to watch 🤣
I was screaming BOOKKEEPERRRRRRR lol as if they could hear me through the screen! Great episode, lots of giggles which i love!
A combination I didn't know I needed!
He is so right. The musical episode was such a surprise and phenomenal!
Love this episode. Marsters seems like such a great guy. Loved your guys' discussions and interactions about games and whatnot. Awesome stuff. Keep up the amazing work gents.
I've been listening to the audio book for the Dresden files james does a fantastic job
Hi guys! Love all you're doing with the podcast, not only as a LOTR fand but also the huuuge amount of things you talk about each program: literature, music, riddles, anecdotes and so on... though I don't see but listen on Spotify on my way to work which is the reason I'm writing this here. I'm an English teacher in Spain and you can't make an idea how the podcast has been giving me ideas and content to present to my groups just to make the lessons spicier (not to mention your accents which I absolutely love!!)... keep doing your thing, since we not only entertain ourselves but also learn!
Cheers from Tenerife!
I wanna rewatch Buffy now
Well done. Looks like you have got lots of lovely gifts.😊😍
You guys were hilarious on Stephen Colbert’s show!!! Great to see you with the LOTR gang again!
Love this interview with taking so long to talk about Lima beans, LOL! Such a different style of interviewing.
I'm so happy I found this channel
They served Lima beans at my primary school. They managed to make them simultaneously tough and slimy. Haven’t eaten any since.
"It's almost completely eatable".. Best comment of the show. Nice done, James :D
“If I found that on the beach I would put it on a necklace!” 😂
From Mexico! I've tried thinking about something that would capture a piece of Mexico that i grew up with that would work on Billy and Dom eat the world. PULPARINDO is a tamarind candy that i think you guys would love and now comes in popsicle and ice cream version as well!!!!
That sounds great.
@@scott3429 its amazing, but i feel like theyve maybe tried Marzipan since its not exclusive from Mexico. And they like spicy stuff! 😁
Love this 🔥
The Fosters and the Magicians had good musical episodes but Buffy will always be my favorite
Splendid!
I didn't realize it was Tuesday, until I saw the notification :)
31:12 James' unintentional Vision cosplay
James is so down to earth, id love to meet you. Come back to Australia :)
Lima beans are gross...lol
Love it when its talks about rpg games, precious
OMG this was a wonderful interview and what i wouldn't give to sit around and play video games with these guys for an afternoon!!! (Go League! lol) I've also wanted to know where the band name come from so thanks!
I had a teddy bear as a child that I named Lima Bean Nose because his nose was shaped like a Lima bean 😂
19:02 "I like to play against a computer programme that is very finely tuned to let me win." James Marsters and I have the exact same attitude to gaming. As my trail of broken PS3 controllers will attest.
I really like lima beans! Not overcooked and plain, but with a little salt and/or butter.
Marsters really was an unexpected guest for me but a good one! Always a high quality podcast. 😀
The Dennis Potter series were musical. The American musical series was called Cop Rock.
Jeff: --- TV never abused and insulted me. Unless you count Cop Rock.
Abed: Cop Rock. Sounds cool.
Jeff: Doesn't it?

I come for the anocdotes, I stay for the random hand holding.
Good riddles/puzzles this week
Even though everyone thinks of librarians when they hear "bookkeeping", bookkeeping is actually synonymous with accounting. So sadly, Ms Grammar wasn't quite giving them correct hints.
Loved this episode!
1:07:57 Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He moved to Delaware with his family when he was about eleven years old.
Thanks, Billy! Thanks, Dominic! Thanks, James! 🧅
27:01 the evil villain laugh LOL
The beans bit 😂😂😂
Damn this cant be any better
I love lima beans and ketchup. My grandpa taught me to eat them that way and I've done it my whole life.
My dad hates chilli con carne I hope I spelt it right. And boiled cod in milk. My dad refuses to eat them to this day. It must be the 60s,70s,80s where food was made 3-4 times a week and you get sick of the same stuff. My hated food is crumpets can't stand them haha
Love This AMAZING
Hey Billy and Dom! I will have to say I love this podcast!! I love all of your works, and most definitely love the Friendship Onion!! If you are interested in Old American West stuff and have never been to the Southwestern part of the US, then you are missing out!! I am from the town of Alamogordo, New Mexico (mostly known for the Manhattan Project) the surrounding area is also known for Smokey the Bear, “Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires” Logo, and for Billy the Kid!! This is the Land of Enchantment (or as we locals like to call it, the Land of Entrapment...because once you're here you don't want to leave) and There have been many movies filmed here in the Alamogordo area from John Wayne Classics, to Transformers 2! If I were to offer you a suggestion for your eat the world moments , since it seems you both like spicy....Try the Hot Hatch (Only from NM) Green Chile!! You will love it!!! Green Chile goes on EVERYTHING!! I'm not joking...
Here in the southern US, Lima beans are cooked with smoked meat like ham hocks or bacon. Delicious!
I'm from Mississippi and butter beans are a staple food here.
Great video 😁
