I'm actually really glad Neru's song was chosen because I've actually had plans to cover this song for years. I'll be honest, I didn't really love the song when I was just discovering singing robots but then I think one day I read the lyrics and kinda saw past all the angst. Like most of Neru's songs, there's always this big cry for help (Ex. Lost One's Weeping, Terror(ism), Abstract Nonsense, everything else) but maybe because some of the lyrics were already in English, this one struck especially hard. Maybe we're all just patched up teddy bears inside...

Hearing the English version of this song really brings out the meaning. She's tired of all the pain, but she also wants a sign, or someone to care about her. She's crying out for help, but nobody's listening.

If I’m being honest I think this is about rin wanting to grow up but also about missing childhood memories (the bear = her childhood) which she has been pulling apart for a while now hesitantly not wanting to destroy it. Because of the stress of this decision she runs away from home. Rin feels it’s her fault for not growing up sooner. Soon she realises that under all this stress she has been destroying herself. She reluctantly destroys her bear (symblising her growing up) and painfully loses her happiness
This could have been caused by seeing her older siblings mature or people at school laughing at her for still holding onto her bear (the classroom scenes)

Honestly (Im not bragging) but I can sing better than this. This is too strained and it sounds like she's singing out of her nose. XD
Tokyo Teddy Bear, to my understanding, is about a girl who thinks she hasn't matured enough, acting too childish, to the point that she thinks she's a failure and wants to run away from home for her family's sake, so she isn't holding them back by taking care of her so much, I guess. At the end of the song, she either grows up or accepts her childish side.

Ok I’m not trying to offend anyone with a different opinion but here is what I think the story is about. If you think otherwise, please tell me in the comments I would like to know your opinion.
She is a girl who is bullied in both school and home and so she runs away from home because she isn’t loved there. She has no friends so she has her teddy bear instead. She wants to know what people want her to be so she won’t be bullied because she thinks she doesn’t know how to make people happy with her. I think the ending is when she makes a whole new personality for herself so others won’t recognize her as who she was.

Cool theory, my theory is the girl is really tired of every lie that she been told and no one love her, care for her, even her family. So one day she run away from home and she didn't have a place to go after some month she meet someone who truly care for her and someone who would listen to her story, and they became friends. Maybe the girl has depression, she been Bullied every day at school, and everyone always told lies about her, she didn't have any friends And her family always abuse her. And they became friends after that and she living with her friends and they took a good care for her.
This theory Doesn't really make sense-
I always assumed she ran away because she thought her childish personality was holding everyone around her back represented by the teddy bear and she was so dissilusioned that she thought all the people who actually loved her were lying and in the end she abandons the teddy bear which represents her childhood
I always thought it was about the main character changing themselves to be what other people wanted them to be; cutting off the face and heart that belonged to them and sewing in what others wanted them to be like. And in the end, they aren’t themselves anymore, they’re just an amalgamation of what they thought others wanted them to be, and even then, it doesn’t work. Despite all that they’ve done to make themselves perfect, they aren’t anything special; they can easily be replaced.

This line is incredibly relatable to me. Someone who just wants to not exist anymore because they doubt their own strength to change or even if its okay to continue on as they are, broken. The best thing would be to to change or just die, but either way, you will lose your 'self' permanently when deep down, you still want to live.

This song reminds me of my suicidal self from 13 years . I've hated myself , done drugs , try to kill and hanged but I've always cried doing them , school force me to grow up but got worse later my mom brought my a red teddy bear I've name him from the title of the song . now I'm better , Share your story to me and I'll help you .
even listening now it is a sad song reminds me of moments in my life were I felt suicidal... brings those feelings back. it's a struggle getting back from that.

Is this song about drug addiction? A lot of the lyrics sound like it. The most obvious being "Aah, can never get enough of the right stuff", but others like "Needles oversized to pulverize this heart beating out my chest" or "So say I’m fine and clear my mind " sound like a reference to heroin needles and family telling them to just stop when it's not that easy. Or "Measure out the size of it, sure, any pattern will do" could be talking about the drugs, they're too addicted to care about how much they're taking. The hospital could also be a rehab center, or something.
