The Mayor of The City - 3TIMESFALIFE, formerly known as S Dub, has overcome incredible adversity on his journey to hip-hop stardom. In 2006, he signed with Def Jam under Russell Simmons Music Group at just 18 years old, only to be shot 6 times shortly after in a robbery attempt.
After regaining his health, 3TIMESFALIFE secured a second recording contract, but suffered a life-threatening asthma attack that caused his heart to stop for 8 minutes. Despite these major setbacks, he persevered and gained national attention by winning BET’s “One Shot” competition in 2016 while wearing an ankle monitor.
The number “3” now holds deep meaning for him as he enters the third chapter of his life. It signifies the multiple times he has overcome challenges through faith and determination. As a father, businessman, and community activist, 3TIMESFALIFE strives to inspire youth to find power in their voice and story. Through his music and clothing brand, he provides an example of turning hardship into opportunity through resilience.
3TIMESFALIFE continues to uplift his Charlotte community while chasing musical success once more. His trials have only strengthened his motivation and given his lyrics a powerful authenticity. Now he shares his testimony to showcase that through passion and perseverance, one can still achieve their dreams despite the obstacles life presents.
