  • In 1981, Dr. Judith Kestenberg launched the International Study of Organized Persecution of Children alongside her husband, Milton Kestenberg. This ambitious project involved the Kestenbergs and their associates traveling the world to interview over 1,500 individuals: child survivors of the Holocaust, children of Nazis, and observers of child persecution.
With the help of trained volunteers in over 20 countries, they documented the experiences of 1,531 child survivors and witnesses of Nazi persecution. The interviews were conducted across the world, including in the United States, Germany, Israel, Australia, and many more.
As part of the Leo Baeck Institute's online lecture series in collaboration with the Oral Documentation Department and the Israel Oral History Association, we invite you to watch the sixth meeting of the workshop focused on "Echoes of Children's Survival: Opening the Kestenberg Archive Online".The workshop marks the launch of digital access to the Kestenberg Collection. Dr. Eva Fogelman, deeply involved in and knowledgeable about the collection, delivered a lecture on its scope and importance, and Dr. Sharon Kangisser Cohen offered valuable perspectives on the meticulous process of acquiring and digitizing the collection.
