About 45 percent of all Africans transported throughout the Americas during the transatlantic slave trade arrived from West Central Africa. This video touches on the cosmology associated with the Bakongo and their Congo Cosmogram and makes connections to the Diasporic customs.

I am an African American looking into Hoodoo, which is heavy with Congolese elements, such as the yowa. In Hoodoo, the Yowa is used to symbolically enter the land of the dead and receive insight and power from our ancestors and the spirits that live there. It's debatable if this is shamanic. The ring shout is also prevalent in Hoodoo 🤗

Great video. I love the info. Im from Trinidad and Tobago but my great, great grandfather came here from the Congo as a "liberated African" in 1862. I feel his energy and his memories guiding me and Im currently researching his origins and culture. Its interesting that the Bakongo called spirits 'Nzambi'; in Trinidad and Tobago,the colloquial term for spirit is 'Jumbie' Thanks for this brother.👊🏿
Hello. That is so cool that you were able to find out where your ancestors came from. A lot of emancipated Africans were sent to Trinidad. Many of them came from either the Congo or Yorubaland in Nigeria. My mom is from Grenada and their word for ghost or spirit is also "jumbie." Thank you for watching. However i am looking at this from a local point of view, If you say to a person from Angola who some of our ancestors came from, this is West Africa, they will look at you like you are crazy. Although that region is more closer to Namibia than places such as Gambia.

I am so glad that you like the video. Bunzi is an interesting character. Bunzi is also known as Funza or Mpulu Bunzi in certain parts of the Kongo. The spirit is associated with water and is the patron of twins.

Not all priest tell people to get rich you have to kill a human thats propaganda spread to influence Christianity. Not saying human sacrifices arent real but to the extent that the media portrays is untrue but human sacrifices are real. At the same time many people get rich just by sacrificing turtles or Ox’s or Goats. This is apart of the spiritual sciences people have lost touch with 4 legs are stronger than 2 legs. Also when it comes to human sacrifices not every human can make you rich by being sacrificed it has to be a STRONG human with a STRONG spirit & also You would have to keep his bones to put them to magical use to capture his power. Ekwensu is the herald of the living word. The principle of travelling or "cross-roads".
Ekwensu was/is also a type of shrine used to pray for protection after travelling in war, for markets, for immigrating into new lands. You pray that you make the right decisions at the "cross" roads. In fact the root of ekwe is "kwe" meaning "to cross together, to agree, sing, harmonize, manufacture, weave together in crosses". Ekwe can mean drum (cross section of a tree) but also whip, barn stacks, cross section of neck or back of the head. Coincidentally, "Yeshua" of the Bible mythology is associated with carpentry and manufactured things especially of wood.
The Ijaw still have Ekwensu as Egbesu, where it is both a shrine used for war, especially on rivers and for protection to new lands they immigrated to. Egbesu is their name for God as well.
The words Joshua and Yeshua (from where Jesus is translated) comes from the African-Asiatic cultures and people and was the word for deliverer, messenger, traveller, evacuator, savior. Like Eshu, Oshu (Yoruba for moon), Khonsu, Ekwensu, Egbesu and so on.
In Western university, this is all deduced through the science of "Cross Comparative Linguistics" cross comparing (related) languages.
