note: if you buy this (like i did) and up the TDP to 15watts, expect major thermal throttling. The very small fan / heatsink combo isn't enough to cool the CPU, reaching 95C under heavy loads. The fan on the CPU is not PWM, and there currently is no way to control the fan even within the BIOS to help with temps. (*update*) It works with an m.2 oculink for external GPU with nvme m.2

Well, price is what's gonna make or break the device. I personally don't feel Intel N-CPU based device is worth anything north of 120. I've tested them and they're just bad and lack I/O. The problem with this costing 180+ is that for 212 I can get i5-1340P (4p cores, 8e cores, 16 threads) WITH Thunderbolt 4 and I/O that isn't abysmal or Ryzen 7 8845HS with full USB4 support for an extra 100 on top of that. I use one of these N100 miniPCs with Ubuntu instead of Windows and it's sole purpose is acting as Moonlight/Parsec/Steam Link client attached to TV in living room but it also cost me HALF the price of this one... 180 is simply questionable asking price for what essentially is a very basic PC. N100 has it's place, I am not sure it is at the top of 200 bracket though.

Not worth it IMHO, my Beelink Ryzen 7 5800H and 6800H Mini PCs which can be found for as little as $300 and $350 runs circles around N100 and N200 mini PC's. These AMD little monsters are 8 core 16 threads CPU's, Hyperthreading, Up to 64GB of RAM and support dual channel. Vega 8 also is 3 times faster than N100/N200 iGPU. The only thing Ryzen 7 CPU's mentioned above lack is AV1 decode codec support which N100/N200/N300 CPU's do.

All Alder Lake-N CPUs unfortunately only support single channel memory, thus none of them will have decent iGPU performance. Imagine how awesome these CPUs would be if they would support dual channel...
Also this thing seems nice, but what were they thinking about no USB-C data connection with power? Lots of monitors these days have USB-C with PD and KVM, so you would only need to connect one USB-C cable and have power, display, USB... well, not with this one. Bummer.

36W 12V supply? If it runs on 12V, that's the same as - ham radio gear. Most mobile hams use laptops, but have a 12V supply for their radio. Throw in a portable display, and Bluetooth keyboard, and you have a highly portable system.
If anything, the design could be wider. The width of a 60% keyboard (or 75% version) could provide more cooling, without sacrificing desktop space.

The N200 is in a weird spot in the lineup. The N100 gets you 90% of the performance and the N300 nearly doubles the multi-core with 8 cores/threads.

@@DigitalJedi actually the N300 is weird too, it at comes down to price, N300, N305, and N200 makes no sense for the time being, given how expensive they are. If the pricing is right the N100 would actually be the weird one. Imagine the N200 is only 10-20% more than the N100. I wouldn't even look at the N100. It is just slower , less EU at the same wattage. I mean the N-series of chips can destroy the Pi Market if they did it right.

    • @DigitalJedi
      @DigitalJedi Před 3 měsíci

@@iokwong1871 I think the 8-core i3 variants can kind of make sense. There's enough CPU there to be a legit little windows machine. It's the same thread count as a normal multi-threaded quad-core. iGPU is a little lacking and single-channel RAM isn't great, but I think they have a place next to the likes of the 1315U and 1305U (5-cores 6-threads). If the N200 was somehow a 6C/T unit, which is sadly impossible with how the cores are laid out, I think it would make more sense as a middle-ground in the formerly-Pentium lineup.
Agreed that it's all pricing though. I'd love to see one of these with the N305 inside. My little tablet has one and it's a great little media/drawing machine with enough CPU for the occasional light Photoshop and Illustrator work.

I’m all for mini PCs (I have a snack collection of them that is growing) but if you can’t add a graphics card then I’m not interested.
As it is currently configured I couldn’t see using it as more than an HTPC or maybe a thin client.

N100 is a good CPU for office use, but morefine m6 is a very weird platform! I have one with n6000 CPU. Non-controlled noisy fan, SSD overheating, problems with displayport over type-c (only this device have problem with video output to my portable ASUS monitor over type-c).
Don't buy it if you have a little more space then the size of the matchbox. I can recommend MSI Cubi N ADL in 0.66l size, cheap and without any problems, from the brand with good reputation.

I can't wait until these low power, cheap CPUs start coming with Thunderbolt 4 ports and hyper threading (or at least 8e-cores - 2p/4e would do too!). Unfortunately N100/N200/N300 Intel CPUs fall a bit short for me, to the point where I'd rather pay another 100 (Ali prices) and get AMD with USB4.

At 15W TDP does it outperform an N95 with lpddr5? I understand there are more CUs in the GPU, I mean generally. Thanks 🙂

no, it overheats and throttles hard if you use it at 15W in that version/case/cooler config.

To be fair, i was kinda thinking in about buying one of these after the video. In the US Amazon it costs around 220$, in Germany it will costs 344$. No joke, same product just different country... But i would like to know something about the pc in the video. In the German amazon reviews there is a post that no matter what hes doing a person gets his NVME after 10 minutes Idle to about 80°C / 176°F Is the cooling so god damn bad on this? He wrote that he also had a replacement device already and tried 4 different NVME´s. IF this would be the case then this would be a clear NVME killer over time when it goes to emulating^^´
